Kelly's on Entertainment Weekly's "The Bullseye" again...right on the bullseye! It says "Sorry, Mozart, we're going with Kelly Clarkson's 'My Life Would Suck Without You' as the best song in the history of the universe."

there is no confirmation that long shot is on the album as well right? man - that song is unlistenable. I like hook up (still waivering on if its second single material but I waivered w/BTHE too), and AIEW...and save you is pretty incredible.

Kelly continues to be #1 on the Mediabase Top 40 Taking Off chart by a wide margin. As of the last update, MLWSWY was added at 59 new stations, and it had 984 new spins.
In contrast, FLO RIDA's 'Right Round' is #2 on the Taking Off chart with 14 new stations and 151 new spins. The Leona Lewis song 'I Will Be' is #3 on this chart with 11 new stations and 125 new spins.
As has already been reported above, MLWSWY is currently sitting at #37 on the Top 40 chart, just behind 'I Will Be.' Kelly is likely to, at minimum, move into #36 with the next update unless adds slow down a lot due to weekend rotation schedules.
If my memory serves me correctly, MLWSWY has had a better first few days than 'Never Again.' MLWSWY debuted higher on the Mediabase 7-day chart (#61 to somewhere in the 100's for NA), and it has moved up 24 spots at a steady pace. Excellent start for Kelly's new single.

I'm happy to see Kelly doing so well on the charts. But after what happened with NA. I'm being cautiously optimistic. I'll just be over here squeeing quietly to myself.

I am too, cautiously optimisitic that is. I really can't imagine what happened to NA happening to MLWS, but you never know, I certainly wasn't expecting the brick wall that NA hit to happen. It's a strange business and the old saying "don't count your chickens before they're hatched" is definitely applicable.

Pyrates and Focus, I totally share your caution, but there's every reason to be optimistic that MLWSWY will at least make it into the top 10. We'll have a better sense of the pace of this song's climb up the charts next week when we have some numbers to allow us to compare MLWS to the other songs near it. For now, we know that MLWS gained 24 spots since it hit the chart this week. That's a 60% increase in chart position since its debut. Although that pace is bound to slow down, I fully expect Kelly to be in the top 30 in a few days, and in the top 20 by the end of January, if not sooner. Why? The current data supports this projection. The songs currently at #23, #25, #27 and #33 all have negative bullets and are falling sharply. Of the songs currently below #30, only MLWS and the singles by Leona and T.I. have bullets over 200. Leona and T.I. are well behind the pace of Kelly's adds. The songs currently at #11, #14, #15, #16, and #18 also are falling sharply, and a couple of others look like they are stalling. So there will be room for a hot new single like MLWS to get up into the top 20 pretty quickly. I'll continue to reevaluate my projections as new data comes in, but, even though you hated me for it at the time, you may remember that my analysis of MD's sales trajectory in 2007 was spot on. So trust me when I say that, unless something shocking occurs, at minimum MLWS will surpass NA's radio airplay performance. BTW, right now, MLWS is the only 2009 song in the top 40, so it's the freshest thing on the charts at the moment.

I'm with all of you. I'm trying to not get excited or overconfident about MLWSWY's performance so far - after all, it did happen with NA - but honestly (no pun intended) I don't see that happening. I strongly think that it will go top 5 if not #1 on pop radio. It's just so damn catchy! I haven't been listening to anything else since. It's always in my head. lol

Never Again got off to a great start but if memory serves, all of the negative publicity about Clive's and Kelly's disagreement started coming out in droves and I think that ultimately that's what really hurt NA. There's almost nothing but positive buzz surrounding MLWSWY.

There's almost nothing but positive buzz surrounding MLWSWY. I'm cautiously optimistic, also. (I guess that's the phrase of the moment?) There's a difference between NA and MLWSWY, though - --- publicity. "Suck" us coming off an overwhelming positive publicity. NA, when it started, not so much.

after my 10 yrs old sister accidentally heard i played this song 2 times (or maybe once), she then automatically sang along the chorus the next time i played it. (i don't know why !?!? it can be this catchy)
this definitely wont happen to NA. so i think this song has a good shot of at least making the top 10.

There's almost nothing but positive buzz surrounding MLWSWY. Agree 100+% with that about MD, not sure about NA...but I don't follow singles/radio at all, so I can't say for sure with confidence! There is a reason that the song is at like 900K downloads.....if not such a good song, why does it rank up there with impressive enough downloads with little airplay? We will never know the true story that unfolded with MD and the publicity, management, etc., BUT I smell a rat with the lack of airplay for NA...it is just too weird. Just my thoughts though, Ha, it is winter, the weather is freezing and I am bored!

It's funny though, I will talk to alot of my friends about Kelly and they will all say "I love that Never Again song of hers!" Personally, NA is my favorite single that Kelly has released so far. And it was interesting, because when Kelly toured with Reba, I'd say that about 60% of audience were Reba fans, but the song of Kelly's that got the biggest response from that mixed audience was Never Again and Kelly sang all of her hits. Anyway, that's the past and it's time to move on I guess, though I'm still a little pissed..lol. eta: and almost one million downloads says something to me too chica. MLWSWY chart progress...
