Offsping still doing "okay" : 41 39 OFFSPRING Kristy, Are You Doin... 1096 981 115 4.922 +11 spins -30 bullet +0.090 AI At least it keeps increasing spins and AI. Today, they were passed by Pitbull :( 43 38 PITBULL I Know You Want Me(C... 1111 774 337 7.489 However, SA are finally and luckily dropping already: 33 37 SAVING ABEL 18 Days 1248 1489 -241 5.091 (-89 spins! yay! ) Considering the path of Abel, the lack of competition from behind against Kristy yet, and that Kevin will go recurrent, Offspring are up for a new peak!!

I actually kinda like "18 Days," that's saying a lot since I HATE "Addicted." They just released their best song, "Drowning (Face Down)," to Alternative and Active Rock, and I kinda wanna see it get a shot at pop.

Don't get me wrong, I like 18 Days, BUT since Addicted was so undeservedly successful, I was rooting for this to flop in compensation Now I'm fine. Next song it's a new story ;)

Good to see the Offspring reaching a new PEAK!
37 36 OFFSPRING Kristy, Are You Doin... 1259 1122 137 5.278 Changes from yesterday: + 16 spins - 4 bullet - 0.05 AI They need to improve their pace, though. Kelly and Eminem will pass them soon, and there are big differences with songs above them, for them to reach a new peak. Hopefully Kristy will slowly keep climbing

The more I hear this song, the more "selloutish" it sounds. I mean, it's not terrible, but to me from the band that brought such unique songs in the past, it seems to me that this song was recorded just in hopes of getting another hit with something that most other bands do already. It sounds very generic pop/rock to me.

I partially agree with that. I would have loved to see You're Gonna Go Far, Kid instead of Kristy reaching the Pop Top40 in this era... but well, given that I really care for this band, I hope this is a way to put them back in the spot so that they can crossover with better tracks :) Still, I think this is not a BAD song, it's safer, more melodic and smooth, but it largely deserves a Top 30 position IMO.

It fits pretty well in the context of Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, and I think the band's allow to mature a little, given how long they've been around. "Hit That" seems more like a single that could get the selloutish charge, and I say this even though I think I'm one of the few people who still likes that song.

Thanks to Beyonce going recurrent, they managed to keep in the same position at last week :) 36 36 OFFSPRING Kristy, Are You Doin... 1439 1259 180 5.979 Seems like next week they could jump to a new peak, too! They jumped 4 spots this week! and now they are featured in AT40 as Breakout! That means a good update for tomorrow and hopefully new adds soon, too. 36 32 OFFSPRING Kristy, Are You Doin... 1536 1440 96 6.350 However, next week Nickelback and Katy Perry will probably pass Offspring. Britney would go recurrent and maybe Pink too, so those 2 songs could compensate the effects of Nb and KP. They need more 3x-digit bullet

The first time I heard this song it didn't do much for me. Saturday, I heard it waking up from a nap in my car, and I'm totally into this song now.

Well, they managed to hold off Nickelback for this weekend, but Nb are now only 45 spins away. And now Kristinia is coming strong on their tails (212 spins difference) On the other hand, Akon and CiJu are free falling, Pink or Gaga would go recurrent, and Fall Out Boy seem to be peaking. Hopefully this would be enough for the Offspring to reach Top30! 32 32 OFFSPRING Kristy, Are You Doin... 1763 1625 138 7.776 +9 spins -80 bulllet +0.086 AI

Songs are starting to find their new equilibrium and beginning new trends. Seems like FOB will keep declining, but Offspring will be back up rising. Sean Kingston and Lady Gaga may come soon to pass them, but hopefully they will also pass TingTings and Ne-Yo... and songs will go recurrent next week. This is bound to reach Top 30 status next weekend!!! Yoohoo!! Go Offspring!

Weird IMO how Alt. bands like this don't "age" (Weezer, Chili Peppers, Offspring, etc.) - just realized they're over 10 years old and the dude still sounds the same as he did in '99

Mmm... more like 15 years old, hehe "Come Out and Play" was released in 1994 from their "Smash" album (when that word was not as whored as now, ehe). Another song was also popular from that album: "Self Esteem", but nothing as anthemic as COAP. Woohoo!! Good memories! :)

I actually think "Self Esteem" has lasted longer than "Come Out And Play " (seeing as it's still a fairly popular recurrent at alternative radio), as has "Pretty Fly," for that matter.

Oops... well, I think I was mostly speaking from my country's experience, where COAP was one of the highlights of the decade. Still, I personally think that as a first single for them it should have become almost like a signature song for them. PF(FAWG) was good and popular, but not as raw and energetic as COAP, though... much more mainstream

This band is musically active since 1984. Almost 25 years old and they never disappointed.

And speaking of previous hits, Kristy is Offspring's 3rd highest peaking song for them now: #39 Original Prankster (2000) #36 Come Out and Play (1994) #31* Kristy, Are You Doing Okay? (2009) #23 Why Don't You Get a Job? (1999) #19 Pretty Fly (For a White Guy) (1998)
