280 That's amazing. What is the record for debuts? Solo female goes to Brit/Wmnzr at 286k I think, but overall it was TiRi and Live Your Life with 226k.

Yeah, but Britney released her video and repressed the song for 2 weeks, whereas Kelly sold by her name only and repressed for 1 week.

Can we please not turn this into a Britney vs Kelly debate. Let's just try to stick to the topic, Kelly. lol

I wouldn't say she didn't have competition. Gaga's and Beyonce's airplay numbers are quite big, she would have had to sell 230,000+ copies (less than most thought she would sell to begin with) in order to place #1.

Come on, everyone knows that first-week sales by huge (pop) acts overtake any airplay difference. In Brit's case, LYLhad sold 313k just a week before and was doing pretty good in airplay too. Anw, hopefully the album will have the same fate as its lead single!

No, you come on, nearly everyone didn't expect this to sell as much as was needed for it to take the #1 spot. If you don't believe me go look in the polling booth in her digital sales thread. This song outperformed expectations (digitally) and got to #1. Nothing was "certain" whether she was a huge pop act or not. Saying she had no competition is just a nice way of saying "Well, she did get #1, but is was sooo easy" which is completely off base. Also the Britney comparisons are getting tired, can we just not discuss Kelly in her topic? Suddenly it's turning into an argument between which had a tougher fight to #1 Womanizer or this.

That high bullet going up instead of down is impressive. After it enters the countdowns this weekend it'll probably go even higher, considering the "poor" updates of the last weekend. It'll reach top 10 in no time, with good chances of being there in the next published chart, in its 3rd week. This week MLWS has gained a spot a day. There are 6 songs above it outside the top 10. It might be asking a lot, but if it can continue moving up a spot a day, it will be knocking at the door of the top 10 next Tuesday.

LOVE the video. She looks so adorable in it. She may have looked "hotter" in previous videos, but IMO she's never looked this "cute" in one. I hope she keeps her hair like that when she does promo. Great chemistry between her & the guy too.

She will be #1 on the Hot 100. It seems like no one's getting it. To answer your rolling-eyed post towards me, I'll just say that at least me, expected it to get high sales. And a random poll on Pulse doesn't mean a thing. I can make a poll there asking if Bleeding Love was a flop and I can go by yes anytime of the day.

She will be #1 on the Hot 100. To answer your rolling-eyed post towards me, I'll just say that at least me, expected it to get high sales. You are in the minority there, I don't think most expected her to sell 280,000 copies. It's not random, as it completely relates to what we're discussing. If you were to put up a poll asking if Bleeding Love was a flop I am 100% sure 98% of the results would be no. What the poll I provided earlier does do is give (in the best way possible) an accurate idea of what many active Pulse members expected. You might not be surprised and might find this such an easy #1 but most didn't expect her to take #1 so easily.

^ You can't predict a song's performance though by a poll on a site, even if that site is Pulse. That's where "random" was referring to. End of discussion.

Predictions fail sometimes and it seems like this was the case with this one. That's why it's not wise to trust them.
