She did look heavier than I remember on Idol, but I don't think she looked bad. Did she sing the song a half step down or something though? It didn't sound as high to me. Yup. Every performance of it so far has been a half step down. I just rewatched it and it wasn't nearly as unpleasant as I remember it being last night. GMA waa definitely better, though.

5 3 KELLY CLARKSON My Life Would Suck W... 8433 8047 386 50.712 +54 Spins -29 Bullet +0.226 Audience Nice. I thought she did great on AI. Sorry, but I don't get the weight comments. Love her attitude and it's better than only eating a celery stick all day and being cranky. (imo) She's not trying to be a size 0 model. Getting back on topic, MLWS has a fair shot at peaking at #2 on the Mediabase Mainstream Top 40 chart if it gets an airplay boost from AI. If not, it looks like its about done. But peaking at #3 is still terrific for this song.

It's really sad how much Kelly's gets thrash for her voice when 99% of POP Star NEVER sing live, so on one really knows how crapping they really sound.
And as for looks people might start heading for the door and join the Mcphee train.

But it's the true. Had she been 100 pounds and lip-sync everyone would be creaming themselves right now. When she went on Idol Gives Back, she gave her best vocal performance on that show, but no one could get over her dress. Same thing different year.

For those commenting on her weight:
Where have you been the past 3 months? She looked pretty good to me last night. No heavier than she has been recently (I'm not saying she isn't bigger than we've seen her in past eras, just that she's been that size for months now).
I'm pretty sure that's the size she is going to be from now on, and that is perfectly fine with me. I just hope she doesn't gain too much more weight. She looks great; she's only fat when you compare her to other music stars.

And I'm sure Kelly, as down-to-earth as she is, prefers it when people voice their concerns rather than blow smoke up her ass and pretend like everything she does is golden.

Personally I honestly didn't have a problem with her look last night. That dress on Idol Gives Back was tragic though, lol. Not that it mattered to me, because her vocals were amazing as you said.

Being the AMAZING singer that she is, and the amazing performance she gave last night, people only focus on how she looked, that's sad. I thought she sounded awesome and gave the best MLWSWY performance so far. Maybe not the best vocally but the energy was great, she worked the audience, and most of all she looked happy. SHe's having a great time with this album, let's just enjoy it with her.

I just watched the performance and I liked it :) . She sounded fine and I love that she doesn't feel the need to look like a stick, just normal.

I've noticed on this board that Kelly is held to a much higher standard than most any other current singer in the business, especially vocally. I'm guessing it's because she's so damned good when she sings live that if she deviates even the slightest bit from how she sounds recorded people are going to find fault. if she is just judged on how she sounds live, nobody would have much to complain about. Even with a slight huskiness to her voice she's still the best, imo. she hit every note, was pitch perfect, had immense energy and charisma and looked like a polished and confident professional up there. Plus for me personally I actually like the huskiness better than her crystal clear because it gives her full voice an even fuller and more interesting sound. JMO of course.

At least Kelly sings live :) I know a *certain* artist who lip synced at the Oscars while Hugh Jackman sang live ... that was pathetic, and they should be ashamed of themselves, sorry. Even Anne Hathaway sang live (and she was pretty good, too!)

Yeah, I really didn't understand her need to lip synch. LAME.

Even Anne Hathaway sang live (and she was pretty good, too!) The irony is that Kelly is an artist that could actually benefit from lipping. Maybe if she'd done that more over the years it would have helped preserve her voice enough that she wouldn't have to lower the key to her songs and note-dodge so much nowadays.

The entire reason Kelly sings in a lower key and "dodges notes" is to preserve her voice.. I'd much prefer THAT to her "lipping" it any day.

I'm quoting this post before it gets deleted as a contender for one of the funniest posts of the year. So, you would prefer a vocalist to lipsynch even while not dancing rather than sing live ??? I would anyday pay for a live, even"off" performance from any vocalist to a mimed one, lol.........

Her name begins with B and rhymes with Eyonce (with an accent aigu over the last e...)

I am glad that not everyone here thought that performance was the best thing since sliced bread because it clearly wasn't. I am, however, willing to discount for things like her promo schedule and the fact that it's a very shouty song in general. This is why I prefer Kelly singing songs like Up To The Mountain, Maybe, Already Gone, the first part of Sober, Save You...because I like that style more. She is in tune, even when she is raspy and shrieking but I just think she pushes it too hard sometimes and you can hear it.

When introducing MLWSWY earlier the DJ on my CHR station commented that she did a great job on AI last night, but then went onto say she looked pregnant. :o I thought that was a little out of line, she didn't look that heavy.

Anyways, very surprised this isn't getting hardly any iTunes boost yet from the performance.

There are three chartings of the song. All "versions" are the same acutal song; however with respect to iTunes, they chart it based on where it was purchased from (the single when it came out in January, the deluxe album version, the regular album version). If you add up the popularity bars for all three (Billboard totals all versions of the song at #8, #31, #138), the song would probably be at #6 or #7 :)

It was a nice performance! but the Never Again performance she did a couple of years ago on AI was better.
