Dear Casey,
I'd like to tell you a bit about my mother, Joyce DeBear. As anyone whoever met my mother knows, showbiz & the performing arts are simply a family tradition. Her grandparents worked in vaudeville, and she was taught to play fiddle sitting on her father's knee. She was an accomplished dancer, pianist, and violinist. And for nearly 30 years, she taught dance, music, voice, and violin all across the country bringing smiles to thousands of children's faces. Her students performed on many early TV programs such as "Midwestern Hayride". As a dancer, she knew the first step to doing anything in life is believing you can do it. Mom taught me how to dance, how to sing, how to play piano, and how to believe. She believed in me when it seemed no one else did & picked me up when I was down. Mom was gentile as a lamb, hard as a rock, (and) soft as a kitten. She was the best, and she lived for 83 wonderful years. I love you, Mom.

°(Spotlight from 1996) Wonder - Natalie Merchant; recently participated on the album "The Price of Silence" whose proceeds go to Amnesty International.
°(From 2008) Won't Go Home Without You - Maroon 5; Adam Levine says: "I've played basketball and baseball at my school, and no matter how well I did, I always had to try to do better the next time. That's how I feel about our music. It's never good enough. We'll go into the studio and we'll redo a song until we're sick of it. Then we'll take a break and then do it again. We're never satisfied."
°(Spotlight from 1971) So Far Away - Carole King; "Tapestry" won it in 1972. The first award for "Album of the Year" went to Henry Mancini's "The Music from Peter Gunn" in 1959.
°02. The Time of My Life - David Cook: down 1
°(Spotlight from 1996) Head over Feet - Alanis Morissette; "Jagged Little Pill" won the Grammy in 1996 & sold 30mil worldwide.
°(From 1995) You Gotta Be - Des'ree; song was used in the "Big Sing" in England where thousands of children sing together to raise money.
°(Spotlight from 1970) Bridge over Troubled Water - Simon and Garfunkel; "Bridge over Troubled Water" was the winner in 1971; only Paul Simon and Paul McCartney have been nominated for "Album of the Year" in 5 different decades.
°01. Viva la Vida - Coldplay: up 1 & 1st week at #1; Chris Martin says: "Because of that album ("X&Y" selling 10mil), we had to go one awards ceremony after another. It was all too much. We stopped being a band and talking to each other. We spent all our time being famous. It didn't work for us to record our albums in fancy studios, so we bought the ugliest warehouse we could find. We put in some basic equipment, and we did our writing in a spare room in the back. It was as if we had burned the awards (and) erased the past. We recreated ourselves as a band."
