Is it for sure Z95 will turn into a Hot AC station?
This morning, I was shocked to hear "Wannabe" and several other older songs in a row. Then, a radio spot came on saying that a "new" Z95 will be unveiled on Monday.
Just for this weekend, they have supposedly put all the songs from the station's history on random (commercial free). I doubt this is true, since almost all of the songs are either pop or pop-rock. I haven't heard a rap song yet, and that isn't very representative of recent years at Z95.3.
The station had been taking input from listeners about what they didn't like about Z95. What did people say? Please turn it in Jack FM, Version 2.0?! >:( Yeah, right.

I thought they already kinda tried the Hot AC thing last year. I still did hear some rap though and lately it did sound like a balanced pop station.

The station's playlist shifted slightly towards Hot AC for a bit, but there wasn't a clear break like there is this time.
Recently, they have been a typical pop station, except they did not add some rap songs like Jay-Z's "Change Clothes" and Murphy Lee's "What Da Hook Gone Be".

They said they listened to what the people want. Well, the same thing was said here in Calgary and in Edmonton when both Pop stations switched to Hot AC. They both failed of course.

I heard "My Immortal" 7 of the 8 times I turned on the radio this week (I usually listen to the radio on the drive to and from work). In second place is 'Drift Away", scoring 6 out of 8. So much for less repetition. And if I have to hear "The evolution of Z is based on what YOU, the listener, wants" one more time...

I hope they don't drop Rick Dees.

I'm assuming with the format change at Z95 comes a change in the Canadian Hot 20 with Buzz Bishop, right?
I only ask because we air the program here in Kelowna, and last week's #1 song, "Toxic" by Britney Spears was nowhere to be found on the countdown this week. The new number one was "It's My Life" by No Doubt.
