If you go on Tonic.com and click on "Tonic Auction Series", you could end up with an iPod of a favorite star. Bidding is done through eBay. So far, there have been iPods of music selected by Mariah Carey, Gwen Stefani, Faith Hill and Britney Spears. Some iPods are also autographed. Auction began February 12 and with more than 70 iPods to auction off, it should go on for a while. Proceeds go to an organization called "Music Rising" which is working to replace instruments lost to Hurricane Katrina. One of many random acts of kindness you can find on Tonic.com.

"I wasn't happy with the way things were going and thought a different guitar sound would help," says Mike. Then, Mike ran across a vintage 1950's Fender Broadcaster in a guitar store. He had to pawn one of the band's P.A.'s to raise the money ($600) to buy it. The guitar turned out to be worth a lot more. The guitars go for about $30,000. Mike says, "I had no idea this guitar would wind up being so valuable." Mike loves the sound of the guitar he wouldn't do anything to change it - even polishing it. Mike says, "You could see the grime and grease between the frets. I've told my techs - never, never clean it."

Hello Everyone,
My name is Juan Antonio. I'm 38, I work as a sports reporter for Spain's largest radio network, and I'm writing to tell you about my friend, Dani Martin. Of course Casey, here in Spain he needs no introduction. Dani (spelled "D-A-N-I") is the leader of El Conto del Loco, Spain's hottest rock band with 15 #1 hits. Dani is the singer and songwriter but above all, a great person and a good friend of mine. Just recently, Dani's sister passed away. She went to bed one night and the next morning, a sudden brain shock took her life. Miriam was only 33. I've always seen Dani happy, bright, laughing, the leader of the band. Well, last Monday, when all his friends went to the cemetary to try to comfort him and his parents, it was really a heartbreaking situation. I know that no words could ease the pain that family was going through. I hugged my friend and said, "I'm very sorry" and stood by him the rest of the day. No need to say anything. I pray that God gives my friend the strength and courage to go on with his career in music and I hope that someday, in the future, I'll see him smile again. Would you play "From A Distance"? It would mean a lot.
Thank you from Spain,
Juan Antonio Alcala
3. The Time Of My Life - David Cook. Holding. Longest-running song (34 weeks) in Top 10.
Spotlight from 1971: Ain't No Sunshine - Bill Withers. A-side was "Harlem."
#1 This Week in 1999: Slide - Goo Goo Dolls. Song was performed with Elmo on Sesame Street with title changed to "Pride." Drop-piece was played by Casey.
From 1985: Head Over Heels - Tears For Fears. The two members of the group - Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith - went their separate ways in 1991. Both put out solo albums and worked as producers but Smith also worked as a soccer announcer. Smith is a big fan of Manchester United. Over the years, Smith has known many of the players and coaches and last year Smith became a guest commentator for Britian's Champions Soccer Radio Network. Smith has been a regular since then adding observations before, during and after games. Smith says, "I can't believe they're paying me to do this! I love every moment of it. I'd gladly do it for free."
Spotlight from 1979: I Will Survive - Gloria Gaynor. Song was the B-side for "Substitute."
2. Viva La Vida - Coldplay. Holding. Singer Chris Martin says he'd like to write more songs about political issues but it's not easy: "It's very hard to find words that rhyme with North American Free Trade Agreement." Won Song Of The Year at Grammys.
Spotlight from 1997: Foolish Games - Jewel. As CDs and Digital Downloads become more popular, the B-side has had less meaning. When Jewel released her single, "You Were Meant For Me", the B-side ("Foolish Games") wasn't even mentioned on the label. In a rarity, both the A-side and B-side hit #1 on the Pop chart.
From 2007: Say It Right - Nelly Furtado. Described by one critic as "a Pussycat Dolls-inspired contempo jam high on hooks." (Reaction from Casey: "What?!?")
Spotlight from 1965: Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers. Song was the B-side to "Hung On You" which didn't make the Top 40.
1. I'm Yours - Jason Mraz. Holding and 3rd non-consecutive week at #1. Mraz grew up in Mechanicsville, Va. and he always assumed his future would be in the family business - his dad built and installed fences. But his parents disagreed. His mother said Jason should try out for local theater productions. Jason's father was even more direct. He said "Take your gifts and make a life with them."
