The Absolute..Back for 2009 with new Mixes!
Originally released in 1997 on seminal UK house label AM:PM (the predecessor to Defected Records) the track that re-defined the Gospel House genre is back with a slew of slammin’ new mixes. Leading off the pack is The Absolute’s very own superstar producer (and Blueplate Global head honcho) Mark Picchiotti with his signature pumpin’ house sound. Mark’s beats and fat bassline support his chunky house mixes, while making sure the spotlight is solidly focused on the vocal performance of the amazing Suzanne Palmer. The Absolute is responsible for breaking and exposing Palmer to an unsuspecting dance community. As a result she has become a legend in her own right.
The Raul Rincon mixes are straight up groovy house and his crystal clear production grooves from beginning to end and is sure to appeal to all lovers of quality vocal house. Pushing the edge of the tribal/electro genre, Chicago legend Ralphi Rosario’s mixes take a left turn at “dark and sexy” with tribal beats and hypnotizing synths. Super hot newcomer, tech house producer 2Bit gives I Believe a new twist and a new flavor with crunchin’ lo-fi basses, arcade blips and stab-ya-in-the-face lead lines while taking you on a spiritual quest of electronic communion and fellowship.
With a hooky chorus, church styled backgrounds and diva lead singer, there’s hardly a vocal record that can compare to this classic. Ever. Period.
Buy or listen to clips here (Traxsource). Beatport and Juno are selling the digital single too.
I did like the original versions from the previous releases. Ralphi's Aggro ones are nice and hard. I find the vocal mix to be harder than the dub. Usually it's the other way around. There's an additional Ralphi mix available on the Xpressbeats website. It sounds almost identical. Maybe just some subtle differences. I have only heard a preview. The Raul Rincon one is okay. It sorta just starts up and doesn't go very far. It sounded promising in the clip.
