This is a band from Kentucky that had some success in the UK last year. I like this song. It kind of has a funky/southern feel to it. I could see it reach a decent peak in the states.

I love how this can be top 20 with virtually nobody talking about it, yet all these songs that do nothing end up with 3 and 4-page threads.

I think it more has to do with two things: KROQ being behind it and the fact that we are in dire need to hear music of new and up-coming bands these days.
That said, I'm not really fond of this (yet). The singer kind of bugs me.

Because I'd like to think Active Rock is for Active Rock listeners and not just for labels to line the pockets of radio operators.

I'd also like to think that people would be more open-minded to something that differs from the norm a bit. But I guess I'd be deluding myself.

It's not about being open-minded, it's about Active Rock being for a specific genre of music, and this does not fall under it. If people can bitch about Active Rock bands on Alternative, then Active Rock fans have a right to do the same.

"Sex On Fire" made it on Active too which was a bit confusing for me as well, but then again, that song had already been #1 on alternative, so I guess that's to be expected. Plus, the White Stripes crossed over to Active Rock once "Seven Nation Army" had already established them as a huge rock act.
And don't tell Penance about differing from the norm when his favorite active rock acts tend to be those that defy the bad bruiser boy redneck rock that active rock is mostly associated with.

I didn't really enjoy it on the earlier post, but now I've gotten to really like it.
Are you guys sure that "Sex on Fire" is the BIGGEST stretch on Active, though? Not only is it electric, it's in a faster tempo than, well, "Use Somebody." Sounds Active enough to make the chart, to me. More fitting than "Magnificent" by U2.

If "Because I Got High" by Afroman can chart on Active, so can this.

If people can b***h about Active Rock bands on Alternative, then Active Rock fans have a right to do the same. Now you know how it feels. ;) Now seriously. It's true that this song might have more in common The Kooks or the Arctic Monkeys than with, say, (Hed)Planet Earh or Incubus. But at the same time, it has some traces of that jerky, white-boy funk feel you find on RHCP and 311. Maybe that's what lead Active Rock stations to add it in the first place. Plus, it also might be that the Actives which added this song are placed in markets where they are directly competing with an Alternative. And if that's the case, maybe the Actives are now responding in kind to the Alternatives which have been adding Metallica and AC/DC for that same reason.

I actually don't really care that it's on Active cause I don't listen to the radio or care that much about it beyond whether bands I like are doing well. But I felt I should help Phobia out a bit.
