But I felt I should help Phobia out a bit. Wait, you're helping me out? Haha, I was just sitting idly by enjoying the discussion. Oh well, I appreciate it. Look, this song is bizarre, not gonna lie. I dismissed it easily when I first heard it, but then itunes made it free and I couldn't resist. I actually like it now, but it's still bizarre. I'm not trying to say that this does have payola backing it, however; but once I saw the active numbers it just seemed ridiculous that a song by a virtually unknown band, with a sound that (let's be honest) isn't cookie-cutter enough for most Active Rock stations, is cruising up the active rock chart. And that's coming from someone that prefers Active Rock, lol. It's thought provoking, but not proof in the least. However, I can't dismiss the idea when it's now almost top 30.

Any active rock PD playing this should be immediately fired. That said, this is a fine song.

Any active rock PD playing this should be immediately fired. Aren't they all, regardless?

Any active rock PD playing this should be immediately fired. That said, this is a fine song. It's #18 on Canadian Active Rock. That means a lot of silent stations.

I thought this song would be a great hit on Alternative airplay. It seems shocking to see where the song is on Active.

indie rock bands such as ... Kings of Leon Say what? They've been on RCA for all four of their studio albums.

I usually lump Kings Of Leon into garage with the Strokes and the White Stripes, if you want to get technical.

Let's get techinal then ha. I would still consider them an alt-rock/indie rock band, admitedly some of their earlier work fell into the "Garage rock" category but "Only by the Night" certainly doesn't. Anyway, the point is I don't think bands such as these should be charting high on Active. Especially when it's preventing bands like Mastodon from charting higher.

Oh, I agree. I think Active and Alternative need to differentiate a little more. Either that or just become one big rock chart.

Their album is probably the best one I've listened to all year. Granted, I've listened to very few albums in full this year... but it's still quite good. There was a review that compared these guys to Arctic Monkeys, and I think that's a decent comparison. "Ain't No Rest..." is one of the 2 or 3 mellowest, least "rock" songs on the album.

Maybe if you stuck a cork up the nose of Cage's singer you might get a voice that sounds like Art's, although still not exact.

The first time I ever heard this song was in this thread about half an hour ago. I have since listened to it at least five straight times. I can get why it's popular.
