Two other things... iTunes and music piracy. I've mentioned the new album to a couple people who I thought would be interested enough to want to buy it. They both asked me to burn them a copy and then had the nerve to get annoyed when I told them no, buy their own. Good answer! ;) I just don't get why some people see nothing wrong with it. <----- The look they gave me when I told them it was the same as stealing. What kills me is that one of the girls is seeing them in concert soon. Ok.... you're willing to pay $80 to see them in concert, but you won't dish out $10 to buy the album? ???

I agree with whoever wrote earlier that the melodies of the songs just seem to blend together. I don't like what I hear. It almost sounds like one very long song.

"Why", "Once" and "Unstoppable" need to be the next 3 singles. those are all amazing songs.

Yeah It's sad, because you can even legally download the entire album for $4.99 at amazon.com...and that would still count towards album sales.

iTunes counts towards album sales. if they sell 11 individual tracks (even if it's just "why") they get a full-unit sale.

iTunes counts towards album sales. if they sell 11 individual tracks (even if it's just "why") they get a full-unit sale. Not true. If a person buys the 11 (or less) tracks individually, the sales will count towards each individual track. If, however, a person buys some individual tracks, then later uses the "Complete My Album" feature, that's when an album sale will be counted (at the same time, there will be returns on the tracks previously bought). As to solely the first statement, true. Album sales from iTunes and other digital stores are counted by SoundScan and included in the sales total (contrary to the misconception I still see in other fan sites, particularly Martinaville where the posters are still rationalizing low sales with the reasoning that the digital album sales aren't included).

I guess I am the only one and I must be cold-hearted or something but I've listened to the song "Why" twice now and I don't really care for it. It just doesn't do anything much for me. There are plenty of other Rascal Flatts slow and sad songs that I like a lot better. Anyway, I still haven't listened to all the songs but I'm working my way through it. I still like "Love Who You Love" the most so far of the ones I've heard. I can't get "She'd be CA" to play for some reason.
Ok, finally got to She'd be CA. Umm, isn't this the same concept as Gary Allan's She's So CA only not as well done in my opinion. Weird that they would have such a similar song and concept even if they sound completely different.
I like Things that Matter much better than Why. Not a bad song and Gary wrote it--cool.
The album as a whole is just not doing that much for me.

"things that matter" have excellent lyrics, that all of us could use. i doubt it will ever be released as a single though...and I agree about "she'd be california" -- every-time i hear someone mention the title, i think of "she's sooo california".
"why" is probably the type of song that doesn't hit everybody the same way.

I think Close is my favorite song on the CD.
The more I listen to it, the more I just can't stop singing it.

"Once" is really growing on me...the chorus is really catchy. Great Jeffrey Steele tune.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think sharing music with people (especially friends/family) is the worst thing in the world. The more people who are exposed to the music, the more likely it is to be bought. I also think people are generally willing to pay for music they like (obviously there are people who won't, but I believe this is a minority). Let's say you burn a couple of copies of this album for your friends. Maybe your friends don't buy it but they enjoy the album and tell their friends about it, and those friends go out and buy it or buy some concert tickets (which is where artists get their money from anyway...not from album sales). Just a question: Let's say there's a song/album that 2-3 people in your immediate family want. Do you think those 2-3 people should all have to separately purchase the song/album even though they're all living under the same roof? As for this album, it kind of runs together for me, as other people have already stated. Right now "Holdin' On" and "Why" are the standouts for me.

Or those friends take the copy I burned for them and make copies for other people. ;) I'll gladly let people borrow my CDs to listen to, which is what I do for my immediate family. But as far as reproducing the music for them, nope, I will not do that.

So who else thinks that "Why" is the best Rascal Flatts song in a long time?

Won't say I don't agree, but... does Billboard ever do a bad review?

I've seen some, but I get your point. Billboard reviews don't really say anything much and are rarely insightful. That's why I usually pair them up with another review. However, I haven't seen as many reviews for Unstoppable actually, especially considering it's a major release. Here's another Billboard-type review, this time from Entertainment Weekly.

Hmmmmmmm... actually I went back and listened to "Forever" several times today. That is a pretty moving song, be it simple. It would do quite well I think.
Saw they sold 351,000 copies the first week... not bad at all! :)

yeah, their most emotional song since "Skin" Oh, I don't think it's as good as Elsworth, but it's definitely the best that this album has to offer.

^ i liked Ellsworth, but personally I think that "Why" is a stronger song which has "song of the year" award potentials.
