Well, I'll say this... at least there's no "Bob That Head" or "Me And My Gang" on this album. ;)
After just one listen, the melody in most of their songs continues to sound basically the same. Like their past several albums, there's only about two songs ("She'd Be California" and "Unstoppable") that I even care for.
But, for the most part, I'm disappointed. I keep holding on to some glimmer of hope that, eventually, they might make music again that we heard on their first two albums. Sadly, I doubt that will ever happen.

I personally liked almost all the rest. It's typical Rascal, that will never change. But I was impressed because it is pretty much more solid than "Still Feels Good". Better that what I was expecting.

Love Who You Love, Here Comes Goodbye, and She'd Be California were my favorites, I think I need to listen a few more times though.

I keep holding on to some glimmer of hope that, eventually, they might make music again that we heard on their first two albums. Sadly, I doubt that will ever happen. I know what you mean...I loved the simple songs on their first couple albums, but everything following their "Feels Like Today" album has seemed over-produced to me.

I have my copy, but got it too late to really dive into it tonight. It'll be playing all day tomorrow though. :)
I am pleased to see that Jason Sellers has four cuts on the album! My two favorite artists together.... can't go wrong with that. :)

It would, however, be better if he were singing his own music.

I finally got a chance to listen to the album!
"Love Who You Love" is an amazing song, and will probably be the most successful on the charts. Great lyrics, catchy upbeat song, nice harmony -- and just a classic Rascal Flatts song.
I personally think that "Why" is one of the best songs on the album. Very powerful -- but done so in a way without going too far on vocals. To me it has a "Song of the Year" nomination written all over it. This is a bit more electric and produced -- but still reminds me a little of "I'm Moving On". Great way to end the album.
"Once" is a good song, as is "Unstoppable". "Summer Nights" is a more tasteful alternative to "Me and my Gang" and "Bob That Head".
I'll have to listen to this a few more times, it usually takes a while for Rascal Flatts songs to grow on me. But right now I would say the best songs on the album are "Love Who You Love" and "Why". Overall, it seems close to the same as their previous CD's, and I'm sure they will have continued success.

It would, however, be better if he were singing his own music. Yeah, I've about worn out the 2 albums I have of his. So I've been listening all day. My favorite right now by far is "Summer Nights." I know, it's super cheesy and light, but it's supposed to be! The melody and the harmony reminds me of their early stuff. "Why" is absolutely incredible. It brought me to tears on the first listen. "Once" has the most smoothest, catchy chorus since "These Days." Great song! And of course I'm quite partial to all the ones co-written by Jason Sellers. Pros... After the last two albums we FINALLY have one that's not ballad-heavy. Song quality is excellent, vocals and harmonies are right on. Cons (just to show I'm not totally biasis)... One too many songs about love lost. "Close" and "Holdin' On" are the same song, just different perspectives.

I just bought this. I think they did a great job. My favorite track is Why and of course I love Here comes goodbye.

I only listened to the first few songs so far, but I like Love Who You Love. However, it is eerily similar music-wise to Sara Evans' Back Seat of a Greyhound Bus (the ending part where it gets faster).

^ Skip to the last track ("Why"). It's the most powerful song i've heard in a long time...

I hope they do, and really I think they will. To me it sounds like at least a Song of the year nomination.

Why and Close are both fantastic songs, but the rest of the album is just meh to me. The production was just as bad as I was fearing and it really takes away from the album. In a lot of ways the album reminds me of Me and My Gang, because there are a few great tracks and the rest are just so-so.

what happened to their albums that sold in the 800K's the first week? The economy changed. Two other things... iTunes and music piracy. I've mentioned the new album to a couple people who I thought would be interested enough to want to buy it. They both asked me to burn them a copy and then had the nerve to get annoyed when I told them no, buy their own. "Summer Nights" is charting on R&R already, so it's rumored to be the next single. Then here's hoping for "Why" or "Once." :)

my guesses at singles:
~"Here Comes Goodbye" ~"Once" ~"Love Who You Love" ~"Unstoppable" ~"Why"
"Summer Nights" could also be a single, but hopefully they will just make a video out of it.....
