Looking at the tracks on Doll Domination that were meant for Nicole, I would say she had very decent material to work with, except people are just not interested in a Scherzinger album, unless she drops the name Scherzinger.
This era has really only been a flop in the States, everywhere else they have managed to get 3 or 4 top 10 hits and moderate album sales. If anything Interscope have lagged behind Universal Music International. I mean there is a reason why the girls had a successful international tour which mostly did not consist of the US.

If Nicole WAS to leave the Dolls as has been speculated after this album is done, what would that mean for the group? Would they disband? Would Melody take over as lead? Find a new lead?

I think If Nicole left the group, the group wouldn't be the same hit-wise. If they're already struggling with Nicole on board, I can't imagine how they would be without her.
Do you guys really think that her last name played a big role into her not having success solo?

Honestly, I don't think the general public really even know the members of PCD or who Nicole is off-hand, so I'm not sure her leaving would be ALL that disastrous for the group. I could be wrong though.

So many questions, yet no certain answers.
Who knows where they go from here? While I agree that there are a few other tracks off Doll Domination that could have been released as singles, it's kind of late to go back now, and their label is responsible for pretty much this whole mess.
Even if "Hush Hush" becomes a hit, that would at the very least help close off this difficult era on a high note. The only way I can see "Painted Windows" being released as a single (in North America) is if it's timed properly to go with the release of Doll Domination 2.0. When that will happen now is anybody's guess - only Europe and Australia seem to be the markets that can push this single, since the album was already re-released in those markets back in late April.
On a global scale, too many singles have already been put out.
Just to recap thus far: "When I Grow Up" - worldwide "Whatcha Think About That" - Europe and Brazil only; brief release in North America "I Hate This Part" - worldwide "Bottle Pop" - Oceania only; scrapped worldwide "Hush Hush" - original version never released as single, charted in Russia
Tracks from Doll Domination 2.0 "Jai Ho! (You Are My Destiny)" - worldwide "Hush Hush" (Remix) - North America, Oceania, Europe (UK) so far, other markets to follow this summer
So far, combining the original album and re-release, that's six singles that have been released overall.
Given how well they're doing elsewhere in the world, those markets could choose to continue releasing a few other singles off Doll Domination. In that sense, their label overseas (Universal Music International) is the one leading and calling the shots more than Interscope here in North America.
So there are several options to choose from: Follow the lead of other markets and potentially release new singles
Go with singles that have not yet already been released here (i.e. Bottle Pop, re-releasing Whatcha Think About That)
Continue to take risks in choosing unproven singles off Doll Domination
Release Doll Domination 2.0 and subsequently "Painted Windows" as a single
Scrap further plans for the era beyond the current single, including no release/promotion of Doll Domination 2.0 in North America

^^^ exactly, they have so many options and it's going to take very tactical decisions to finish off this era right. i'm really hoping they can have at least one real smash before this era ends, especially because they have the material to do it, and i really think that will be PW. it will help 2.0 as well.
and as for nicole leaving, i think people will notice but i don't think they'll care. if anything they'll be happy because from what i hear a lot of people (not just big pcd fans) are sick of her. i think their music will do just as well if not better because there will probably be far less drama without her. i hope she leaves and they make another album with all of them singing and it becomes bigger than the first two! whether or not she has success alone really doesn't matter to me.

It didn't do shit for The Veronicas airplay-wise, but it did help boost their iTunes sales, so hopefully it at least does that for PCD!

This is at 139 on iTunes, if you take of the 35 MJ has in front of them, they would be 104, which is better than they have been. If they keep increasing their downloads little by little at least, and their Airplay the way it's been, they're sure to be back on the Hot 100 next week, that's if it's not re-entering this week.

And it's also released in the UK where it currently sits at #18. The song is doing great worldwide!
BTW, a new PCD song leaked 'Whatever Happens. It's a Doll Domination leftover produced by Ryan Tedder.

I agree that this era has only been a HUGE Flop in the USA.
For an example here in Brazil the PCD seem as popular as they were before.
They had three huge hits (WIGU, IHTP and JH), so the brand itself is not THAT hurt.
If they are to disband I would really miss them. They're songs are the ones people really look forward to when going to a club. Myself included.

Actually the Brazil HOT 100 is not that accurate in my opinion. We unfortunately don't have a trustable chart to look at. In the first ERA they has three huge hit (add Stickwitu to the list). As songs take more time to come her and longer to burn at radios we sometimes skip the under performing singles like Beep and WTAT. My point is… the brand PCD was not that hurt WW (I just used the country I live in as an example). Of course It could’ve 1000x been better…but they still had three hits and to an average listener they are a solidified group and remained relevant. I think some countries like Brazil might skip HH just because Jai Ho is still pretty big. I hope they really bring it the third time around.

Australian Itunes Update!!!
Hush Hush (Ballad) - #31 Hush Hush; Hush Hush - #41
Now there are MJ songs in front so without including the MJ songs they are really..
Hush Hush (Ballad) - #25 Hush Hush; Hush Hush - #33
The ballad version was on the verge of breaking the Top 10 as it was #11 at the time MJ's death was announced. Since then it's fallen badly. The Remix however has moved up from the 70s.

Normal update today... I want it to get the AT 40 push.

The thing with AT40 is that it's based on the information taken from Mediabase. Also, the countdown shows heard each weekend are based on how the songs ranked about two weeks ago (taking both the current and recurrent songs).
Looking back then, this song was still lingering in the mid-40s (currents only) meaning it would be a lot lower (with recurrents included). Even if it makes the AT40, it still has quite a long ways to go before actually charting since many other songs will likely get there before this one - "Good Girls Go Bad", "You Belong With Me", "Never Say Never", "Use Somebody", "Best I Ever Had", "When Love Takes Over" and "I'm In Miami Trick" provided that they all continue moving up. Some songs will enter right away getting past the breakout/extra phase. As long as "Hush Hush" continues trending upward like this week, it could somehow find its way in there sometime later this month.
As for the remix vs. ballad, I think it comes down to the time of year. With summer having just arrived, it would make more sense to put out the uptempo remix over the original.
While I still feel indifferent about the "I Will Survive" bit, the remix for the most part has been growing on me a lot more now, probably because of the increased airplay that it's getting on my station.
It also helped that this remix was featured on "So You Think You Can Dance" - it went very well with the chca-cha routine, which turned out be one of the week's best performances. So that provided some exposure for the song and should help boost sales.
On U.S. radio, it's safe to say that this will outpeak "Jai Ho!" this weekend (with the help of two songs going recurrent).

Thanks for the info on the AT40. I always enjoy your posts ;) I hope the song manages to keep up so it can make its debut. I disliked the I will Survive part until I heard it on the club a few times. But it makes sense with the mood the songs set you into. The last part on the peace picks up again is orgasmic ...

The Hush Hush remix is a huge hit in gay clubs... and as we know, gay clubs are often the frontier of songs that later breakout into mainstream hits.
