At the end of every song on the AC station here, a voice comes on tells you the artist and title. A male voice backsells the songs from male artists and a female voice for female vocalists (or at least, that's how I've noticed). This is the first time I've heard this on any station. The station must've started doing it this week.

Sometimes I wish my station would do that when they start playing old obscure songs. I know a Triple A station up near Wachovia does that sometimes.

The Adult Hits station here has a female voice that tells the artist and title of most songs. Since the station started playing recent hits, those hits do not always have their artist and title said though.

KFNK in Seattle does that for about 75% of their songs. They've done it for several years now. They have an afternoon drive-time show, but other than that, I don't think they employ any full time DJs, none whose names I could remember, anyway.

Yeah in ATL WKLS (Active Rock) and WFSH (Christian AC) both announce title/artist after every new song...pretty sure it's a company providing the service to the stations cause it's the exact same beep followed by the same female voice announcin the songs on both stations (and they're not co-owned)

the rhythmic station here ( :'( before Univision shut it down) had a female voice that said the artist name and title immediately after the song ended

The one station I've heard that does this is the CHR station in Albuquerque. I can't remember the name of it, but I heard it last year.

I've heard of stations giving the title and artist when every song is played a while ago but I haven't listened to a station that did it. On the topic of identifying the title and artist, I'm mad www.yes.com ignores Nassau-Suffolk stations even though it's a big market. The CHR-Pop station in Albuquerque is KKOB-FM.

Am I glad I don't have to listen to FM Radio anymore. Hearing this after every song would drive me crazy. This may have been a great idea in 1985, but is it really needed now? Just think of all the ways to find songs now (Shazam for iPhone/Blackberry, radio station websites, internet seaching).

B101 and Now 97.5 in Philadelphia do this. It's casually referred to as "song-tagging".
It would annoy me, but people who don't follow music, like my mom, seem to like it.

I can see how it could get annoying after a little while, but I do think it can be pretty neat, especially when you hear a song and you don't know the title and/or artist.

I've heard a AC station in Worchester, MA does this on Saturday Mornings It's actually Worcester. ;) Yes, though, WSRS-FM, the AC station here, has a female voice backselling the artist and song title, but it's all the time (except during Delilah, I think) and not just on Saturday mornings.

In Canada, there's a French Top 40 station in Montreal called CKOI and almost everytime when I tune in there's a male voice that backsells the artist and song title. I don't know if that applies to every song but it almost seems like I fall upon it at random - even during their weekly countdown show.
Usually, the only time I would expect to hear this is when new songs just added to a station's playlist are being promoted. So before the song starts, you would hear some sound effects, the radio station ID, followed by a voice mentioning "new music", then the artist and song title. Although lately, with the changes my station made, it's just "new music" followed by a DJ mentioning the artist and song title.

A station in Charlotte, NC, does this.
The AC station in Buffalo does it too now.
I think it's a great idea.
Billboard used to have this on the Hot 100 in the early 1990s: "When you play it, say it."

Isn't this called "back announcing"?

I noticed that a female voice does exactly that on KKOB-FM/Albuquerque when I drove back there from LA last summer, and I'm also aware of a country station near Chicago where a male voice does the same thing.
Not mentioning the title & artist of songs has been a long-running complaint of listeners for years and years.

Now 97.5 in Philly stopped doing it as they shifted from AC to Hot AC. B101 still uses it.
A former competitor of mine... 99.1 Free FM (KSEK-FM) in Pittsburg, KS uses them right now as well. They can work... as long as they don't play the wrong one... or say the name of the artist incorrectly. Then you just cringe!

WDAY-FM in Fargo does pop tags. I believe there's another station elsewhere here in the Midwest that does the same. I wasn't sure what to make of it at first, but it's grown on me.
Clear Channel stations often do sweepers over song intros. The PD of WKSC in Chicago told me once that the idea of the ramped sweepers is to create a sense of faster flow during a music set. For the CHR audience that is here one minute and gone the next, that isn't really a bad idea. It can just be badly-produced.

Isn't this called "back announcing"? It's actually called back-selling, although I guess you could use the turn back-announcing because it would technically be the same thing. Just a matter of semantics.

J.'s come on right afterward and talk about the song
