That's a fake "upswing" though IMO cause all the new stations are basically rhythmics (also don't expect their ratings to be too high)

Atlantaboy---Since the format has been rhythmic-dominant for most of this decade (going back to Eminem & JLo), why are you so shocked?

You're one of the sharpest folks on this board, and undoubtedly know that.

With KIIS & WHTZ both enjoying their best ratings in fifteen-plus years, if that's not an upswing.........

Toss in the perennial format godzillas such as WNCI, WZEE, WDCG, KHKS, KHTS, and all of the others....

Hey thanks for the compliment man...

These new stations are really rhythmic though (not just rhythmic-leaning) - some have no rock/Hot AC at all on their playlists, and some have one song (usually AAR), so doesn't really seem IMO like CHR is growing as a musical format - just that more rhythmic stations wanna be under the umbrella of CHR, so they throw in one AAR track so they "qualify"

Z100 has the highest CHR audience - Arbitron rates how well stations do within their market (regardless of size of market) -

IMO any major CHR in New York City is gonna automatically be the biggest one in the country, so no shock there lol...not that it's not a great station, but NYC is so big, no matter what it's gonna have the biggest audience in the country, even with mediocre ratings

Anyhow, it's still #1 in its market...just that people livin in NYC don't listen to the radio as much as people livin in Allentown PA I guess (prob. cause people in Allentown don't have as much other stuff to do lol) ;)...also people in smaller cities like Allentown have less choices
