Rihanna update:
Umbrella slips 43-46 on AC, while they move ahead and "Don't Stop the Music debuted at #49.

This is funny...first Umbrella and now Don't Stop the Music. I guess AC radio is just jumping on the Rihanna train, lol

That sounds much better than "less than 30 plays!"

Why is Umbrella still in the charts?, even though it's nowhere near the top ten.
It was released way back in 2007, FYI

32 33 32 RIHANNA Umbrella f/Jay-Z Def Jam/IDJMG 2007 61 66 -5 Congratulations to this song, which as of Sunday has a new registered peak of #32! I loved watching Umbrella's original climb on all of the formats, I'm glad I can still watch it reach new heights somewhere, haha. I seriously can't believe this came out two years ago

The real question is what is this doing on AC:
59 34 BLACK EYED PEAS I Gotta Feeling Interscope 52 12 40
Seriously, this belongs here less than all these other questionable AC hits combined. How did the spin threshold get so low anyway? A couple years ago you needed over twice as many spins to be this high.

The official peak of "Umbrella" (so far) is #31, but two follow-ups of hers are already bubbling under:
31 36 33 RIHANNA Umbrella f/Jay-Z 89 50 39 18 4.5 3.9 +0.6 35 57 34 RIHANNA Don't Stop The Music 79 18 61 16 4.9 2.1 +2.8 ... 36 37 40 RIHANNA Disturbia 57 47 10 14 3.2 2.8 +0.3
Rihanna, the next Barbra Streisand?

I'm guessing the stations are all playing these songs as recurrents, and they've picked up enough airplay to hit the chart.

That and Mediabase is probably long overdue for ridding the AC panel of a few stations that shouldn't be there.
