ok, but I mean when has an Idol winner's debut album ever not made even the top 10?
I don't think that's ever happened. not a good sign

I agree, but it's just the first week sales. There's no way to know how much it will sell in 2010. A "flop" is something that has underperformed with no chance of recovery.

his album probably won't even sell 300000 in total. ouch! I LOVE how you can assume that when his first single hasn't even peaked yet! ROFL at you!

obviously America has bought into the Glambert's bulls**t gimmick but i wouldn't count Kris Allen out I'm pretty sure he'll be more successful in the long run and he hasn't flopped his core format is HAC those artists still have selling power and usually outsell Top 40/Mainstream CHR acts, the only reason Adam is only selling because of controversy because we all know his lead single "FYE" was literally DOA and his label freaked out and went straight to single #2, not to mention they are pulling all the stops to get people to buy his album, Kris barely got any promo and sold 80K that's pretty damn good

Don't blame Adam for Kris's low sales ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Kris has been doing promos for 2 months. He has done lots of radio interviews and gigs. And he has been on Regis and Kelly, Conan, Ellen, etc. People just arenft buying his CD.

Yeah, Kris has been doing 3rd level promo for weeks. Late night TV doesn't move units. Prime time TV and Oprah move units. Adam got both of those. Kris got the Ellen show, but not during first week sales. Adam has the same PR guy who guided Kelly and Clay, and is now head of PR for 19 Entertainment. That is why Adam got all of the same magazine covers that Clay got. Who is guiding Kris? Maybe the janitor at Jive headquarters? This is the funniest thing ever from Hits Daily Double: "The controversial gender-bending Idol runner-up Adam Lambert proves to be the real people’s choice—at least those who prefer their music a cross between Freddie Mercury and Anthony Newley" Anthony Newley.... www.youtube.com/watch?v=lpKeRtEwTFw

I needed to take Kris Allen out, dust him off and give him a spin again. I have purchased about 7 CDs since then (including Glambert) and had almost forgotten how much I love him. The Truth is still slaying me and I like Before We Come Undone now. This kid deserves more sales, seriously!

Ah, so his first week sales figures were officially lower than predicted? Whatever. I don't care if it sells lower than Taylor Hicks. At least this album isn't of Taylor's quality. Red Guitar is my new favorite right now. This kid is so talented and has so much to offer. I remember that I fell in love with his voice and that he can sing over arrangements I wouldn't normally favor but still sell the song to me. Good job, Kris.

Kris is doing very well at both top 40 and Hot AC radio. If his songs continue to do well, then first week album sales, won't be the 'be all and end all'.
Live Like We're Dying was announced as the biggest climber on American Top 40 Hot AC this week. It went from #40 to #36.

Alright With Me, Before We Come Undone, Bring it Back and The Truth have hit potential (maybe even Written All Over My Face, but I doubt they'll release two Script covers) I think it's a great debut!

I don't know who sold more or less. At least he isn't a tool and he's probably the first male former American Idol contestant I really enjoy listening to... (beside Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood)

Last Christmas, Kris Allen spent a cozy holiday in Conway, Ark., with his wife, Katy. "We were only married three months and lived in a little bitty apartment," the boyish 24-year-old singer says with an aw-shucks smile. Back then, Allen was earning roughly $110 a week as a shoe salesman who sidelined as a worship leader at his local church. "We definitely weren't rolling in money, so Katy and I only bought each other one or two presents." This holiday season, that's all going to change, right? Not so fast, Allen says. "You win 'Idol' and everybody thinks you're a big deal who goes around buying houses and cars, but that's so not true." In fact, Allen still lives in his apartment in Conway, his wife has to drag him to go clothes shopping, and Allen still takes the low-key approach to gift-giving. "The greatest gift of all would be to spend time with Katy and my family," says Allen, who spent last summer on a cross-country "American Idol" tour before heading immediately into the studio to record his self-titled CD, which debuted this month. At a studio outside L.A., Allen, who's dressed in a T-shirt, jeans and some well-worn charms (a friendship bracelet, a peace sign necklace) given to him by "Idol" fans, reflected on why less has always been more when it comes to gift-giving. "My parents would always leave one unwrapped new board game under the tree next to a pair of new pajamas," he says. "I'd wake my brother up and say, 'Hey, let's see what we got!' Even now, when I think of the holidays, I think of 'Monopoly' and cheesy reindeer PJs." A few bigger presents stand out, too. At 16, his parents bought him a truck. "Nothing fancy," he says. "Roll-up windows, standard transmission, a cassette player. But I loved it almost as much as the He-Man sword I got when I was 8." He always enjoys getting new guitars, and a Martin acoustic is on his wish list. Allen, who taught himself to play at 13, later added piano and ukulele to his repertoire; in high school, he was ranked all-state in music performance. "I was definitely a band nerd," he laughs. What's cool now is that he can catch his breath at home over the holidays. "I had an awesome year -- playing onstage with Queen and Keith Urban, winning 'Idol,' doing the tour, making the album," he says. "But none of it would mean anything without my family and friends." www.usaweekend.com/09_issues/091129/091129kris-allen.html

Well, with the typical 60% drop, I'd say about 28-35,00 is more realistic.

With black friday? No. I'd say anywhere between 43-50,000 seems fair. Slim chance for 55,000, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Black Friday did nothing to cushion David Cook's drop last year. I think Kris will drop 60+% to around 30k.

Black Friday did nothing to cushion David Cook's drop last year. I think Kris will drop 60+% to around 30k. Cookie had a lot of preorders. Besides, the average drop is 60-75% right? He managed to stay on the high end, so maybe Black Friday did help him out a bit. Plus, Adam dropped last week, and there is usually a bit of benefit for the other idols when one has a big week. Based on that, I am hoping Kris can pull about 45K. Fingers crossed.

Live Like We're Dying is doing very well on the Mediabase Top 40 chart. It moved up to #32 today, with a spincrease of 309.
65% seems to be about the average for second week sales drops, and true to that, Kris' album dropped 59%, and Leona Lewis' dropped 69%.
