No im sure he has true. Fergie has good talent and a strong voice but it does not translate to live performances well. I have heard her live. She is shaky, and doesnt show the control necessary for a classic arrangement such as Amazing Grace. Why on earth she would be at the funeral singing Amazing Grace is beyond me. It should at least be an acclaimed vocalist. Ok, I agree with you with being someone else, Madonna, MC, or someone more iconic than Fergie, but I think Fergie can carry out singing Amazing Grace. I've noticed that when a song is a little more uptempo that requires vocals she may not do it at it's best, but when it's much more settle like Amazing Grace I think she can pull it off. I cannot take you seriously as you have just offered up Madonna to sing Amazing Grace. But seriously, Fergie should not be singing at Michael Jackson's funeral. I dont understand how people are even trying to justify Fergie of all vocalists to sing at his funeral.

I'm not justifying for Fergie to sing at his funeral, just saying that she can sing good, and would IMO carry out the tune. Anyways on Tuesday, I believe she will be in Europe with the peas promoting.

I didn't bother to read the whole thread to find out if this bothered anyone else.....BUT....and i know this is really pushing it....I have a hard time liking this song because of the title. The completely incorrect use of "gotta" that I highly doubt that they even noticed. For some reason it's driving my brain nuts. To me the use of the word gotta is only for shortening the words "i have got to".....as in " I gotta(have got to) go". So unless someone can successfully explain to me what this title is supposed to mean, I just can't like it. It should read "I Got A Feeling".
At the same time, its a little too mild to be a huge hit. Agreed with a previous comment that no matter what this song does it won't be one that they are remembered for.

Nothing against Fergie, but MJ deserves better. Not really iconic like Madonna but rather someone who can express MJs longtime message through character.

I dont care if you like the song because thats your opinion, but that confuses me that you like another song and yet the title has the same problem. The title is constructed like that because phonetically that is how it comes out. It is a much more relaxed rendition of language. It means that there should not be a space between 'got' and 'a' when you speak it. Its that simple in my opinion. Its how its supposed to be pronounced.

The word "outta" represents "out of," so its usage in "Let's Get Outta Here" is correct. If the song was "My Dreams Flew Outta Window," then it would be incorrect. The word "gotta" represents "have to", so its usage in "I Gotta Feeling" is WRONG.[/color] And yes, Stereo, it bothered me, too! And speaking of BEP bothering me with grammar, was anyone else bothered when Fergie sang "I'm gonna miss you like a child misses their blanket" in BGDC? She used a plural pronoun to refer to a singular noun, and it bothered the hell out of me. It should have been "I'm gonna miss you like a child misses his or her blanket," but since that's laughably ridiculous, she should have just chose "her" in reference to her own gender. And LMAO @ the examples.

I'm one of the most anal people I know grammar-wise, and I didn't even bat an eye at the usage of "Gotta" and didn't even realize its technical incorrectness until now. Maybe it's me becoming ever-so-gradually jaded. Now, using "U" or "4" or "2"... I might roll my eyes a little bit. However, Usher's "U Don't Have to Call" hit the top 5 on my personal chart, so it can be easily overlooked if it's a good song.

Though my thought about it was that she was generalizing "child", I think she/company didn't want to change it to "a child misses its blanket" referring to a person as an it, so they just put "their" generalizing. I hope I'm making sense here.

You're making sense; I totally know what you mean, and I used to use "their" as a general singular pronoun too, until I learned it was wrong. And now that I know it's wrong, it bothers me everywhere I see or hear it, and it is seen and heard everywhere, because it's such a common mistake. And "its" would have sounded callous, I agree, but I think they could have just went with "her," because it would have matched Fergie's gender and made sense and been correct. "I'm gonna miss you like a child misses her blanket." And yes, I am way too picky. My brain is picking 24/7, usually at itself. Lobotomy time? JK.

I'm not really that picky myself, and it's most likely because that's the way I speak too, pretty much everyone I know speaks the F'D up English language lol. Yea I guess it would've been better to put "her", so then changing the lyrics to "like a girl misses her blanket" would make it even better.

Its an expression of who is creating it. Not everything has to be a grammar lesson. Surely someone as elevated as yourself also recognizes that linguistically using "outta" is completely incorrect as substituting 'out of' for 'leaving' is not appropriate. Where do we draw the line? Let the artists be.

It would be kind of funny if this, which I think we can probably say now is the "summer anthem" this year, peaked at #2 behind some quick novelty hit (*coughLoveGameorWakingUpinVegascough*) like the past 2 summer anthems. There'd be a new curse

I forgot to mention that BBP sounds super rockin' awesome on my Charlotte radio station (KISS 95.1): the electro-dance part is so surreal there.

This song is DEF the summer anthem, IMO. I can't help but love it and I really didn't want to after how much I hated BBP. This should have been the first single but whatever, sometimes it is a smart move to release a better single 2nd. The first is usually a success just based on being the first and therefore more anticipated.
