This incident really just reinforces my dislike for Taylor Swift. She should've shoved that b***h off the stage and went on with her speech; she's got a good foot on him so it wouldn't be too tough. Instead she stood there like the meek, boring little girl she is and went backstage and cried. Hey, at least she has another #1 song to write about a boy disliking her. Teardrops on my Guitar Part II anyone? Please, she has more originality than that. Teardrops on my Moonman

I don't think anyone's defending what Kanye did - it was obviously wrong, but y'all are getting ridiculous. He didn't Chris Brown the b***h, he just ruined her acceptance speech. Something tells me she'll get over it when she gets back to her McMansion in Nashville and rolls around in a sea of Benjamins. Yeah, honestly. I do feel a bit sorry for her, but I think there are more pressing issues in the world to be concerned about moreso than Taylor getting disrespected at the VMA's. And some people are acting like Kanye took candy away from a little baby, I mean she is 19 years old and VERY much an adult and should be able to defend herself like one. It's not THAT serious.

Edit: Sorry Stephen..while you are a crazy carrie st.an It seems that your not all that evil..sorry But the comment was mean(if it was a joke or not)and that's all the majority of Carrie stan.s do(critize her writing...like Matt)so I was just merley defending the girl. She writes to her audience and nothing wrong with that...again sorry As for this situation....Kanye's laughing, Taylor's enjoying her increase in sales, and Beyonce is holding her VOTY and loving the free press. West was a douche but everyone will get over it.

I'm a "crazy Carrie st@n," but I find Taylor Swift to be very attractive (I like skinny girls) and I think she writes some very good, catchy music.

Anyone see Kanye's interview/apology on Leno just now? Seemed pretty sincere. Kinda low blow from Jay when he asked Kanye what his mom would say about the situation.

Kanye just gave an apology on the premiere of the Jay Leno show. Pretty emotional. He almost started crying after Jay said "What would your mother do?"

I'd have to disagree that Kanye going onstage and grabbing the mic from Taylor and acting disrespectful to her was one of the reasons he'll be iconic. I also don't see how he pushed envelopes or broke new ground, either. He was just being an asshole. If he keeps this up, some people could forget about his great music altogether.
I understand what you are saying about rock stars needing to have a personality and defy the norm, but there are very intelligent and creative ways ways stars can accomplish this, and they don't have to rely on an outbursts at awards shows just to get attention and blatanty disrespect other artists.

When someone mentions Kanye, Icon isn't the first word that comes to my mind... I mean, aside from several songs, he's pretty much just famous because he's always acting like a kid. He already did a stupid drama several years ago about the VMA's not giving him some awards.

Yeah I agree. A lot of the stuff Kanye has done in the past does make him a rock star IMO (George Bush comments, asking hip hop community to stop homophobia etc) but last night was an attempt at headlines...which he got.
Has Taylor said anything? I'm interested to see what she says on The View. I have a feeling she'll be happy he apologized and forgive him.
Speaking of which, anyone else think Brand's comment that "The Jonas Brothers had to forgive him since they're Christians" was hilarious?

Wow, when Jay asked Kanye what would his mom think about what he did, I almost felt bad. He was kind of stunned and shocked, just like Taylor was last night, so all in all, Karma did her job quickly.

When did this happen? About 20 minutes ago, Kanye wanted to apologize, but Jay Leno asked him what he thought his mom would have said. He just looked down and didn't say anything for like 15 seconds, it was actually very very uncomfortable.

When did this happen? Tonight on the Leno premiere. It was the right question to ask, the question that strips a guy like Kanye of his bravado. Nobody's so gangsta they don't think twice about what their recently deceased mother would say. I think Kanye got the point. Which should probably be the end of this two-day story, although people will remember it because he's been a huge jerk so many times before.

The President just apparently called Kanye a jackass. During a CNBC interview on Monday, President Obama called hip-hop artist Kanye West a "jackass" over his behavior at the MTV Video Music Awards. (Watch video of Kanye at the VMAs here.) Obama's colorful remark was actually made in an off-the-record portion of the interview that was tweeted -- and then deleted -- by ABC News reporter Terry Moran. "Pres. Obama just called Kanye West a 'jackass' for his outburst at VMAs when Taylor Swift won. Now THAT'S presidential," Moran wrote. Politico's Michael Calderone has ABC's statement apologizing for Moran's journalistic breach. www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/09/14/obama-kanye-is-a-jackass_n_286623.html

I know Jay wasn't trying to own Kanye or anything, but he did it, and in a very reasonable way.

I saw kanye on Leno just now and he did seem sincere. Naturally, everyone will jump down his throat and say he didn't seem sincere...but they do that everytime someone apologizes. I have yet to see a public apology that the internet masses find sincere, no matter who it is or what the subject. People always think the worst of everyone...so I often wonder why people apologize at all?
