album comes out today. I got a gut feeling it's gonna be a close race between Three Days Grace and Five Finger Death Punch for the title of "Top Rock Album" for this week

I have a feeling 3DG may somehow miraculously pull through with that.

Wow....i wouldn't think that would be much of a close race between these two bands. No matter the feelings of a few people on these boards, 3DG is WAY WAY bigger overall than FFDP in the general audience of rock music. Now I'm not saying it can't happen but I would definitely think the miracle would be FFDP being ever remotely close in sales.

Yeah I caught your sarcasm Phobia. And sometimes the subtlety adds to the effectiveness. metalfan's post is an enigma to me though. I'd be impressed if FFDP could chart in the top 20 on the billboard 200. They probably will though, just to disappoint me.

The album is pretty awesome. Anyone else think that the guitar in "Far From Home"'s intro sounds way too much like Better than Me by Hinder? xD Not really. And besides that intro was a rip off of Sinch's "Something More". As, for the album, it's pretty damn good. Standout tracks for me: "Hard to See", "Far from Home" and "No One Gets Left Behind". Their cover of Bad Company's... "Bad Company" is one of the best covers i've heard in awhile. So, overall this leaves "The Way of the Fist" in the rear view mirror in terms of quality. They really don't sound like many other bands around at the moment. I can see them establishing themselves as a core act on Active rock radio with this albums singles. "Far from Home" should be the follow up after "Hard to See" cracks the top 5 ;)

Sinch - "Something More" = the active rock snub of the decade. That song should have been legendary.

hey lockebox, in the track-by-track review, Zoltan said that Far From Home could be a single down the road. Let's hope it comes to fruition

Sinch - "Something More" = the active rock snub of the decade. That song should have been legendary. Agreed. I still love that song quite a few years later. I really never understood it. It came out around the same time as Seether's "Fine Again" and I don't know anything else by Sinch, but "Something More" seems to me sound a lot like something Seether would put out. However, "Fine Again" became huge and "Something More" I don't believe ever hit the Top 50 on any format. I could be wrong though.

Sinch is one of the most creative hard rock bands out there and unfortunately they keep getting shafted. I'm still waiting for album three.

"Something More" I don't believe ever hit the Top 50 on any format. I could be wrong though. Don't have any Active or Rock records, but it spent 5 total weeks on the Alternative chart in the summer of 2002, peaking at #43.

Although if they go for the heavier option, then "No One Gets Left Behind" or "Bad Company" would fit the bill quite nicely. Sinch - "Something More" = the active rock snub of the decade. That song should have been legendary. Oh it's legendary with fans... completely agree with you though. "Something More" I don't believe ever hit the Top 50 on any format. I could be wrong though. probably this will be their biggest hit on BB Mainstream Rock Charts if it will stay for at least one more week at that rate

Going briefly back to the Sinch thing...the song peaked at #27 on Billboard Mainstream Rock Tracks, so the song probably peaked somewhere in the mid-20s on active rock. That album had so many other gems though. "Bitmap" is my favorite song of all time not by Porcupine Tree.

The self-titled album was pretty impressive to say the least. Quality tracks throughout. Good to hear that they're currently in the process of recording a new album.

Did you ever hear Clearing The Channel? That was the album they released in 2005. Even better than the self-titled, IMO, although others might disagree.

Nope. I'm only familar, like most I suspect, with the self-titled LP that was released under Roadrunners. Unfortunately the band then vanished after getting dropped. Haven't listened to anything else of theirs. I'll be sure to check that out though now you mention it.

After Roadrunner, they became one of the first acts on Rock Ridge Music, which is currently home to Sister Hazel, Stroke 9, Reel Big Fish, and etc. Rock Ridge released their second album in 2005 as well as various online only EPs. Now they're free agents and getting their fans to donate toward the making of the third album.
And I guess they did vanish from the public eye, but it's not like nothing was written about them. Gotta keep up with bands if you're a fan. ;>)
