I don't think this will do very well. I'm interested in Scooter's side project but it seems too light for alternative and not very radio-friendly, plus the constant use of vocoder kind of brings down the appeal. I'm more anxious for new Cold, but I'll still check this out because I do enjoy what I've heard so far, I just don't think it'll take him very far.

I hope it does well. I can't wait for the new Cold stuff. I allready preorderd this album but what I don't understand is the tracklist has not been released yet and the album come's out on the 14th. I bought this song from iTunes. I agree Pen this album will not do well commercially but I think it will still kick ass. The last Cold album i thought was really good but that didnt do commercially well either. But I honestly don't think Scooter really gives a crap anymore with all the label crap he has had to deal with in the past.
Last time I checked though Cold was going to put out two albums...one with new material and one with some unreleased stuff. I hope that's still the plan. Scooter is one of the top vocalists in rock music imo.
Maynard James Keenan (The G.S.O.A.T), Trent Reznor, Billy Howerdell (Lead Singer of Ashes Divide, Guitarist in A Perfect Circle), Serj Tekian. David Draiman, Kevin Matisyn, and Scooter Wards is not far behind. Nobody imo will ever top Maynard though.
I wish scooter all the best though. I just know commercially The Killer and the Star, Cold, and the Parabelle album will all not do very well which is regretful. Still as long as the music kicks ass i don't really care. I just hope the label(s) don't drop the bands. I know in Scooters Case it's like sort of his own label sonic star but it still concerns me.

Your choices for best vocalists are interesting. My favorite vocalist is actually Raine Maida, not because he has great vocals or anything, but because his vocals are very unique, and inspiring to me. Maybe because they're not great vocals, but they still work. Vocals that are bizarre or off are always more interesting to me than clean, crisp, generic vocals. Except for Myles Kennedy and Brent Smith. Those dudes can sing. And I still love Patrick Stump's vocals. Man's a soul funk brotha.
I don't think Scooter's in danger of being dropped from his own label. I'm pretty sure the Parabelle album is a self-released effort too.

My best vocalist award would go to Jimmy Gnecco of Ours, with honorable mentions to Christopher Hall of Stabbing Westward, Lajon of Sevendust, Brandon Boyd of Incubus, Sahaj Ticotin of Ra, Gavin Hayes of Dredg, Darroh Sudderth of Fair To Midland, and Jared Leto of 30 Seconds To Mars. And if Adam Lambert's debut album can wow me, I may have to add him to that list too.
I have a harder time judging female vocalists just because I can't relate to what they can do so way much better than I can. Though Cristina Scabbia of Lacuna Coil, Hayley from Paramore, and Sarah McLachlan are all really good.

I honesty might get hated on for this but I actually think Amy Lee from Evanescence has a grogeous voice. I think she is really awesome. Scabbia from Lacuna Coil is good as well.

All great voices. Props especially to Gnecco, Boyd, Ticotin, Sudderth, Leto, and the females.

I still can't believe the tracklist for this album isnt out yet. The tracklist is not on amazon, bestbuy, newbury, or the official website or myspace. It comes out in a little over a week and no tracklist.

Not to start a whole title freak-out thing, but I think the title is "Starts When You Fall." Star is in the artist's name, not in the song title. I just listened to it for the first time. I don't even recognize Scooter's voice on this. He's singing, right? There are like two notes in the whole song when I think, oh yeah that could be the guy from Cold I guess. Otherwise I can't even make myself hear it as the same guy. In the other songs, the vocoder is extremely prominent, but in "Starts When You Fall," it's subtle enough that it just sounds like a different guy singing.
"Hallelujah" woulda been a better shot for rock radio. It's much darker sounding.

You're right it's "Starts" ha. You're also right about "Hallelujah" being a better single. This probably won't do a great deal.

I think this is good for the kind of style of music it's bringing to the table, but it's not really doing much for me overall. I think it could do something maybe on say Hot AC or AAA, but I don't see any chance at all on Alternative.

This hurts me. Darroh, the God of rock, in the same paragraph as Adam Lambert?!?

I suppose Adam Lambert sucks just because he was on American Idol...
The dude has great pipes, and if he decides to write a creative record rather than a typical AI record, it could be very very good. I bet Darroh and any other vocalist would recognize just how good of a singer Adam is and be happy to be compared to him. After all, Adam is already drawing Freddy Mercury comparisons, and you can't do much better than that, can you.

I like the idea of a song that sounds like this, but damn, he sounds like he's about to kill himself.
