One of the most overrated songs of my lifetime. It's obsessive following among basic white people has always dumbfounded me. His vocal and the lyrics are downright cringeworthy. And I loved the Hot Fuss album in general, but I've been skipping this since day one.

This is gonna be to the 2000s what Dont Stop Believing is to the 80s! Absolutely incredible song!

16 years ago today...on its 18th week on the Hot 100 chart, "Mr. Brightside" by The Killers reached its peak at No.10. The same peak it achieved in the U.K. a year earlier. It was released as the first single from their debut album "Hot Fuss." The most British band that isn’t British that wrote the most British song that became a British anthem.

I always listened to the Jacques Lu Cont remix which is why I don't think it has that same major burn rate for me. It will always have a special place in my 14 year old heart, though.
Edit: Hadn't heard the remix in awhile, so I gave it a play and it definitely is a more interesting listen after hearing the original so much the past years.
Still a classic.

Their career hasn't been on a bright side after that hit. Somehow they almost feel like one hit or should I say one album wonder.

This is gonna be to the 2000s what Dont Stop Believing is to the 80s! I agree with this sentence but I think we disagree on whether that's a good thing ;)

One of my all-time favorite songs ever. A timeless classic that is still great today.

This has just achieved a new top 20 peak on the ARIA chart. #19 this week. In 2024. Nearly 20 years after release.
The mind boggles.

And I loved the Hot Fuss album in general, but I've been skipping this since day one. Yeah it's very puzzling it gets sung in stadiums at sporting events and such when you consider the subject matter. Like, why is this big among families? Lol! It's also kind of a lazy song since the first and second verses are the same, though maybe that's meant to show how his mind is fixated on the same thing over and over. My favorite song from their first album is "All These Things That I've Done." I think it has catchy parts that could be universally sung.
