Ashanti should consider taking longer breaks inbetween albums.

I wonder if the title "Concrete Rose" was inspired by Tupac's "The Rose That Grew From Concrete."

Ashanti should consider taking longer breaks inbetween albums. I agree! I hope not.

What makes you think I haven't heard it? I used to call up Def Jam every day for Ashanti news. Then they would e-mail me HQ pics that were 4 MB each. They even told me they'd send me her album in MP3 format before it was released. :o
With that being said, no, I haven't heard it. :(

I just heard the song and I think it's nice. But I'm not sure if this will be a hit for her because it's not catchy enough.

Like we needed another song that sampled Club Noveau's "Why You Treat Me So Bad"! Atleast she didn't go after the usual part of the instrumental that's sampled. At first I thought it wasn't catchy, but as the song went along, it's pretty catchy. What I think is going to turn people off is the very strong 80's vibe. I think she would have been better off with another 70's style song, or another "Rock Wit U" type song.

I just heard this and it's just ok for me...It's not as strong as her other singles IMO.

I like it! It's much better than her "Chapter II" stuff. This song could become another Top 10 hit, but she has to deliver another hit to really sell albums.
By the way, her vocals are bad as always!

Garbage. This will be as successful as the Brandy project was.

what the HECK is going on. Ashanti started off with such a huge bang b/c they took a so-so singer with so-so talent and less than spectacular looks, and gave her the BEST production and the MOST hype...
why have they stopped that? this production is not only her worst ever (by far), it's not even up to par for the average singer.
TERRIBLE! really terrible. this is more embarassing than "Just a little while". YEAH I SAID IT!

Thanks for the link
7 Aurelius produced this
Ashanti has finally decided on a new single and album title. The Inc.'s first lady went into the lab with one of her former producers, 7 Aurelius, not too long ago and knocked out some more records, and has since chosen the 7-produced "Only U" as the first offering from her album. The LP, now titled Concrete Rose, is slated for a December 7 release.

HOT! I like the haunting sort of vibe...and the beat is HOT! 7 is back!
This could probably be my favourite Ashanti single thus far

I like it! Surprisingly, I still remember how the chorus goes, and I haven't heard it since yesterday. I couldn't remember how "Rock Wit U" went until at least the 10th time I heard it. (For some reason, I found it really forgettable at first.)

41 Urban and 47 Rhythmic in the past 7 days... Yup it picked up. She only had 9 spins a day ago lol. An Ashanti fan told me all of her singles start off slow. I dont really keep up with her so i dont know. but does any one else happen to know if thats true???

I don't remember "Rock Wit U" starting off this slowly. "Foolish" did because she was a no-name.

I only remember "Rain On Me" starting off slowly. Not sure about the others, except that "Rock Wit U" definitely didn't start off slowly. Her 30+ spin jump in a day is a good sign that it's finally being pushed at radio.

Foolish was slow, Happy wasn't, Baby had a lot of early play, Rock Wit U wasn't, Rain On Me wasn't THAT slow...
she hasn't had many singles, I hate all the credit she gets for the guest spots. This one is really creeping.

up to 142 from 89 @ Urban (+53) up to 264 from 173 @ RHY (+91) up to 2 from 1 @ Pop (+2) down to 1 from 2 @ UAC (-1)
total: 4.569 audience, up from 3.279
the only thing this means is ppl were not going "OMG I CANT WAIT FOR THAT NEW ASHANTI!". which can be good, b/c when ppl do that, like with "lose my breath", the song flies up too fast and starts to sputter.

It looks like it could end up a respective "urban" hit, even as "Wonderful" continues to rise up the chart. It looks like a pop flop, though. :( Not surprised. I didn't know it would be so anti-pop friendly.
