This song is Me, Myself & I's younger sister. It could perform just as well, or flat-out bomb. Yes, but "Me,Myself & I" was an Urban hit. This will never really be an Urban hit. They were loving "Cater 2 U."

Same here...those are exactly the parts that I dont like about the song. and thankfully, Michelle's parts are usually only restricted to 8 bars, so...it could be worse Like Beyonce's "Girl we known eachother since we was TEEEEEEEN!" lol especially in the video, it's sooo overdramatic and corny My mom was watching TV and the Girl video came on...LOL...she was saying some parts made her cringe OMG I hate that part!!!

I think 'Girl' is much more enjoyable than 'Me, Myself and I' and will prolly perform about the same on the Hot 100.
'Cater 2 U' will prolly be the next single in Europe but single #4 for America should be 'Through With Love'. Good way to close the album.

Even if Cater 2 U isn't a big Pop hit its perfect for Urban/Rhythmic radio and would do just fine. The record company knows what its doing.

how exactly will that song in particular generate hype for the tour??? Well the third and 4th single was between Girl and cater 2 u. In every poll of which song you like better, not only did Cater 2 U win, but basically murdered Girl. So I think that Cater 2 U would help generate more hype than Girl would.

it really doesnt because it seems like they would have chosen the song with the best response for the next single.

DC wants a strong 4th single. Girl was gonna be a single and its not that strong to be 4th. If Beyonce did CIL, Baby Boy, Naughty Girl, and then Me Myself and I, it wouldnt be as strong of a finish and would have generate less hype for the tour. They are doing the same thing with this album. I agree that TWL should have been the 4th single and they should have said f**k Girl, or atleast save it for the 5th single, but they was SO determined to make it a single. And it would make a better third than 4th single.

Example, All Night by Janet Jackson was the fan favorite and the record company decided to release the fan favorite and it flopped hard core. Being the fan favorite doesn't necessarily mean being a hit single.

And people was kinda disliking Janet at the time cuz of what happened at the superbowl

Being the fan favorite doesn't necessarily mean being a hit single. You say that as if Janet wasnt going through political and cultural backlash. It didnt matter what Janet released it was going to flop. That situation is totally different from Destiny's Child.

I think 'Through With Love' has been pretty overrated and that 'Cater 2 U' is the better choice for fourth single as it sounds better suited to radio.
'Through With Love' is just a enjoyable album track.

I'm surprised Girl seems to be disliked so much as I think it's really good and a strong single. I've enjoyed all three singles muchly, actually. Good going DC!

Being the fan favorite doesn't necessarily mean being a hit single. Mariah "Can't Take That Away (Mariah's Theme)" :'( (I personally never liked it, though.)

"Girl" is a hot song
Cater 2 U is boring, IMO...how anyone, especially the label, could think it would be HUGE... ???
I mean I guess it could do WELL (Top 10) on Urban and Rhy, but HUGE? It's too bland, it would do ok but get lost in the shuffle of other songs, especially for a 4th single.
