This is going to be such a flop... I'm sorry, I don't see any potential for this album to do good. I could care less if it's a flop or not. As long as Thalia is recording great music, I don't care about much else. What good does it good if she's No. 1 if her music is crap. She has sold so many records throughout her career, I think she no longer worries about selling millions & millions of albums.

Obviously you are entering a Thalia territory and it will be evident that I will defend Thalia in her latest jewel. And obviously I'm getting headaches if some people just throw opinions for the sake of increasing their status here in the forums overlooking the FACTS, the STATISTICS. SORRY IN ADVANCE if it appears that I argue some forumer here, I knew that everyone is entitled to his/her own opinion, but hey I would like to defend Thalia in tagging her as a loser, fracasada and a failure, as many of anti-fans and **people who just so happen to have an opinion that I disagree with and therefore I think it is inferior to mine** call her since her failed English crossover bid. I am tired seeing people pulling a person down, trying to cope up but still being prejudged and misjudged by many.. For your information, THALIA is now being promoted by SONY MUSIC LATIN. Thalia's Equivocada, the first single off the PRIMERA FILA album is REALLY DOING WELL in the CHARTS. It debuted #1 in iTunes Mexico, #1 in Amazon Latin Songs, #5 in iTunes USA Latin Songs chart and #1 in iTunes USA Latin Videos chart, a feat she had never done post-Thalia 2003 era (El Sexto Sentido, El Sexto Sentido Re+Loaded and the record-breaking Lunada). And this song debuted better than Shakira's Lo Hecho Esta Hecho (our point of comparison, since these two singles mentioned are released almost simultaneously by SBMG Latin) in Latin Pop Songs (Thalia's Equivocada debuted #24 last week) and will debut better on Hot Latin Songs in the Billboard charts (*because it is now averaging a hefty 110-130 spins/day, making it the #1 song in one station in Puerto Rico, WIOA-FM and #2 song in one station in New York, WPAT FM*). And based on the DAILY ACCOUNT OF RADIO SPINS ACCORDING TO MEDIABASE: ( You have to be a member of this site to access this link: www.allaccess.com/mediabase/q/report/sevenDay/format/L1/panel/L/detail/C/reportType/R ) Where's Shakira, a ver?? These are the proofs that RELATIVELY, NOT ABSOLUTELY, THALIA EN PRIMERA FILA will succeed in charts, if these are your measure of success of a song/album.

Just in: THALIA's EQUIVOCADA debuted at #36 on the BILLBOARD HOT LATIN SONGS!!! And it's a HOT SHOT DEBUT!!! That's 3 weeks after its official radio release.
I have to say this but Equivocada is far more successful than Causa Y Efecto of Paulina Rubio, another Mario Domm-Maria Bernal composition, which debuted at #40 of the same chart A MONTH after its official radio release.
Meanwhile, after 3 weeks, Lo Hecho../Did It Again of Shakira debuted @ #34 of LATIN POP SONGS.. I assume its Hot Latin Song debut will be next week..

Does anyone have sales figures for iTunes Mexico? I'm curious about Equivocada's sales.
I just saw a song sells for 12 MXP. I wonder who actually buys that because I know for a fact piracy is very common. It's very easy to get a CD illegally in Mexico with practically no risk of going to jail.

Thanks, another friend sent me the link via Twitter. It's really great, and I have never been a fan of the original. This version is a lot more natural, simple, and touching. Thalia simply won't stop blowing me away with her new material. She is almost a completely different artist now. Phenomenal! And don't let the critics get to you, Hook. They just want to piss you off. Just ignore them. That's what I do. Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Louie, in case you did not watch the "Las muchas vidas de Thalia" docu on Canal De Las Estrellas last night, here it is:
Part 4, my favorite part of the docu, the medley part, and when she danced above the piano
Part 3, Thalia singing El Proximo Viernes de Espinoza Paz
Part 2, Thalia singing Cosiendome El Corazon, her mother's appearance in the 1/F
Part 1, Intro, Thalia singing Equivocada, w/ some differences on it

Listening to El Proximo Viernes makes me really happy. I LOVE Thalia's voice. So beautiful.

The album is great. I'd give it an A-. Some things obviously would have changed in the studio, but for the most part, the album is great as is.
My Top 3: 1. Cuando Te Beso - Sounds phenomenal. Thalia's voice usually makes me happy. This one made me happy and her voice gave me chills. Awesome vocals. Great Lyrics.
2. Estoy Enamorado - It sounds classic, and their voices blend in with such ease. It's passionate, emotional, and exactly what a ballad duet is about.
3. El Proximo Viernes - The best up tempo, with Ya Lo Sabia close behind. Just has a happy sound in her voice.
All in all, I'm very happy with Thalia's vocals. There are some parts on some songs where inflections sound awkward (No Me Ensenaste, for example), but for the most part, it's an amazing showcase to her voice. She sounds like an absolute superstar and is still, IMO, Latin America's sexiest woman ever.

Yes, I also noticed "Por donde empiezo si tu acabo, como olvidarte si nunca aprendi-wi-weeee" in the medley version of No Me Ensenaste..
THALIA en PRIMERA FILA is, to date, the best album Thalia did so far in her music career, and MY TOP PICKS (in NO PARTICULAR ORDER) would be:
* COMO ( a far better ballad than Equivocada ) * CON LA DUDA ( a song that showcased Country/Regional Mexican genres ) * EL PROXIMO VIERNES * COSIENDOME EL CORAZON * CUANDO TE BESO * EQUIVOCADA * MUJERES

I will let you know once AMPROFON (Mexico), CAPIF (Colombia) and Billboard (USA) will release all their reports from last week, though Sony Music Mexico declared that Thalia En Primera Fila reached gold in Mexico and sold 40k units (I think in Mexico: Gold= 20 or 30k, Diamond= 60k or 75k)
For the week of 23 Nov-29 Nov, Thalia En Primera Fila (AMPROFON) reached #41 (pre-selling, before December 1 release). I think this will escalate more this coming weeks in Mexico and quite optimistic it will have a Diamond certification.
For USA, a bulk of Primera Fila's sales were online and I've heard a lots of complaints from USA fans that they couldn't get a copy on stores (Walmart for example) and I don't know if Billboard/Nielsen Soundscan would certify the online sales. I've seen HitsDailyDouble.com and unfortunately, Thalia did not reach the Top 50. :( The lowest in the charts sold over 3,000 units. But don't you worry, Billboard is still USA's leading music chart provider. hehe.

^Glad I'm not the only one who was complaining. Why would she appear on El Show De Cristina (MAJOR) to promote if her album can't be physically bought anywhere in the USA?
I went to two Wal-Marts, a Target, a Super K-Mart (thinking Thalia's clothes are sold there, why not her music?) and a Best Buy looking for the CD or DVD and they didn't have it. There's really no music stores anymore. If Wal-Mart doesn't carry it, it's not even worth looking for it. I had already bought it from iTunes but I wanted the physical copy for my Thalia Collection. I'm pretty sure most latinos would have bought it at Wal Mart if it had been available. Most are not going to go on iTunes or Amazon to download it. I wonder why it was not distributed properly.
I'll look forward to your sales report. :)

This is going to be such a flop... I'm sorry, I don't see any potential for this album to do good. This just in: THALIA en PRIMERA FILA debuted @ #1 at TOP LATIN ALBUMS and LATIN POP ALBUMS. But the sad news is, it only sold 7,146 copies. Thalia has a stiff competition this December, as her competitors were heavy: Andrea Bocelli (@ #2), Jenni Rivera ( @ #3), Wisin and Yandel (@ #5) and Aventura (@ #6). Its holiday season and there's so many album releases right now and for all artists on the charts, they suffered low amounts of album sales. But anyway, being #1 is not a easy homework to do, right?? Just later today, Billboard corrected the Latin charts. Thalia en Primera Fila debuted at number 4 at the charts. They divided 1/F sales. The standard album version sold 6,000 units and it charted at number 4. The Wal-mart special edition sold 1,000 units and it charted at number 20. Andrea Bocelli climbed to number 1, with only less than 7,000 copies sold, followed by Jenni Rivera and Coscolluela. What a F**King news to start the weekend right?? Billboard just published to its site (after mentioning on Twitter) that Thalia is number 1 and after that they will just take that away?? Ooh. That just spoiled my mood for today. But the bottomline is, THALIA sells MORE RECORDS than any artist for that week in Billboards.

This is going to be such a flop... I'm sorry, I don't see any potential for this album to do good. But the GOOD NEWS continues in Latin America: Mexico's AMPROFON certified THALIA en PRIMERA FILA GOLD and charted #1 on its second week. (Platinum next week? ) Argentina's CAPIF placed THALIA en PRIMERA FILA on the #2 of their charts (a spot behind Susan Boyle) But for these coming weeks, I'm afraid THALIA en PRIMERA FILA might fall on the Mexico and USA charts (Thalia has been an Argentinian darling, have no worries there ). Alejandro Fernandez' DOS MUNDOS is doing great on iTunes USA, which will be accounted for on the digital sales of BILLBOARD LATIN CHARTS, which lost its credibility to almost all Thalia fans out there. FYI: Thalia's eternal rival PAULINA RUBIO is at the extreme end of AMPROFON Charts, and it took her a month to reach gold on her hometown. A feat that Thalia beat, for THREE DAYS. This just in: MDC Mexico said that 6,000 copies are needed by 1/F to reach Platinum in Mexico..

A number of online articles mentioned THALIA EN PRIMERA FILA reached TRIPLE PLATINUM in BRAZIL. Do you know the official album chart provider in Brazil? I want to verify if it is true..
CHART UPDATES:
BILLBOARD STANDARD EDITION: LATIN ALBUMS: #7 (WEEK 2 & 3) LATIN POP ALBUMS: #2 (WEEK 2); #3 (WEEK 3)
WALMART (EP) EDITION: LATIN ALBUMS: #37 (WEEK 2); #35 (WEEK 3)
*But if Billboard will COUNT those as one, Thalia's real standing would be #4 for Latin Albums and #2 for Latin Pop Albums on both weeks (2 and 3)
NUMBER OF UNITS SOLD TO DATE IN USA (STANDARD + EP): more or less than 18,000 (32,000 units more to be a Platinum-certified album in the USA)
MEXICO | AMPROFON, WEEK 2: #3 (TOP 100); #2 (ESPANOL) *I assume it is now certified Platinum, but no official reports yet
EQUIVOCADA: BILLBOARD: LATIN SONGS: #13 (WEEK 6); #10 (WEEK 7) LATIN POP SONGS: #4 (WEEK 7); #2 (WEEK 8)

One fellow Thalia fan has an account/connection on Nielsen Soundscan, an organization that counts the number of copies of albums sold by an artist that is hired by Billboard, told the actual number of copies of albums sold by Thalia En Primera Fila in the USA (combined original and EP versions):
Debut week: 7,146 2nd week: 5,100 3rd week: 5,028 4th week: 6,174
Total : 23, 448 (26, 552 copies left for the album to become certified Gold in USA)
Meanwhile, for those who are curious how her eternal rival, Paulina Rubio, and her album Gran City Pop is doing on the album charts, her album sold a total of 35, 505 units for 27 weeks in the USA. I am leaving the comparisons and conclusions with you guys.

Thalia claims the NUMBER ONE SPOT again in Mexico ( greaves.tv/amprofon3/Top100.pdf) for the week of January 11-17,2010. She first reached NUMBER ONE sometime around 2nd week of December. For Mexico alone, she obtained PLATINUM+GOLD status (120,000 units of album sold), 40,000 units away from DOUBLE PLATINUM status. Meanwhile, 1/F sold around 31,000 units in USA for 7 weeks now, hitting the #9 spot in Billboard Latin Albums (#65 for the LP) and #3 for Billboard Latin Pop Albums (#18 for the LP). Total EP+LP sales combined, 1/F would enjoy the #5 spot at Billboard Latin Albums, and most probably #1 at Billboard Latin Pop Albums. For the month of December, 1/F was on the #7 (Audio) and #8 (DVD) spots in Argentina ( www.capif.org.ar/) Meanwhile. catch Thalia performs live this Saturday on Univision for the Unidos por Haiti special. Que Sera De Ti was announced as her SECOND SINGLE.

Almost four months since its release, Primera Fila has really proven to be the album of a lifetime. The glowing reviews keep coming in, and the album has remained steadily at the top of the charts. On iTunes, the album has remained a bestseller, and Thalia's recent performance at Premios Lo Nuestro was one of her best in years. Now the only thing she needs to do is more live shows. She tweeted today that she is working on getting dates scheduled in Mexico and Spain, so hopefully she will at least do some concerts in those countries for now.
If this doesn't win Best Female Pop Album at this year's Latin Grammy's, then there really is nothing that Thalia can do to ever win it.

Where's Choco btw? hehe :]
Anyway, Thalia said that those concerts that she will be doing will be as intimate as she did in 1/F. Thalia also told the press that 1/F is her best album that she have done in her entire musical career..
1/F Album Sales Update: Mexico- 150,000 number of units sold (Double-Platinum+Gold) USA- 100,000 with CD/CD+DVD/Walmart Edition combined (EP nearing to be Gold) Argentina- 20,000 (Gold) Brazil- 30,000 (unsure if Gold or Platinum) Spain- debuted this week @ #48

NEW REVIEW OF THALIA'S PRIMERA FILA IN ALLMUSIC.COM: Primera Fila, the first-ever live album of Thalía's two-decade career, is something of a revelation, an "unplugged" acoustic album of mostly new material that is among her best full-length releases to date and certainly the most astonishing. The strength of the album comes as a surprise in part because Thalía isn't known as an especially gifted singer and in part because her career had been on the skids for years. No question about it, Thalía is better known as a celebrity than singer. For one, she's strikingly beautiful, a mainstay of People en Español's 50 Most Beautiful People issue whose endorsements range from clothing and accessories to beauty products and self-help books. She rose to fame as a member of the teen pop supergroup Timbiriche, rose to superstardom as a telenovela actress, and later, after she'd gotten her solo career well of the ground, married Sony Music executive Tommy Mottola, the ex-husband of Mariah Carey. Consequently, her celebrity often trumps her music, most of which was overseen by hitmakers Emilio Estefan, Jr. and Estéfano, who perhaps unfairly got a lot of the credit for her success. Thalía's reputation as a singer wasn't helped by her faltering commercial success in the mid- to late 2000s, when the Estéfano-produced El Sexto Sentido (2005) and the Estefan-produced Lunada (2008) both sputtered in the marketplace. While those albums weren't all that bad but rather spotty, over-produced, and in the case of Lunada, poorly promoted, they clearly failed to meet expectations and brought Thalía's long-running association with EMI to a sure demise. She subsequently switched to her husband's label, Sony Music, and came up with Primera Fila, which at first seems like a bad idea: Thalía unplugged? Nevertheless, it works better than one might imagine. Recorded in Miami, FL, in front of a small invitation-only audience at the BankUnited Center over the course of two nights on July 29 and 30, 2009, Primera Fila finds Thalía performing a 13-song set of mostly new material, plus a greatest-hits medley and a couple choice covers as an encore. Thalía is credited with co-writing a couple of the new songs ("Cómo," "Ya Lo Sabía") with singer/songwriter Leonel García of Sin Bandera, yet most come courtesy of hired hands, most notably Reyli Barba ("Enséñame a Vivir"), Espinoza Paz ("El Próximo Viernes"), Mario Domm of Camila ("Equivocada"), and Joan Sebastían ("Con la Duda"), the latter of whom shows up for a duet. The mid-album greatest-hits medley is a nice reminder of Thalía's past as a Mexican dance-pop prima donna, the classic "Amor a la Mexicana" in particular, and how different in tone her past work is from Primera Fila. Among the cover songs, the highlight is a rocking version of Ricardo Arjona's "Mujeres" that closes the album on a high note. In the end, Primera Fila just might be Thalía's most impressive album to date, not only from a musical entertainment standpoint but also in how it showcases her talent as a performer who can deliver the goods outside of a recording studio. If anything, it should silence the naysayers and reestablish Thalía as one of Latin pop's brightest stars. allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=10:difrxz9sldde

She might win the Latin Grammy only if Shakira and her upcoming Spanish album is not released in time for the next Latin Grammy Awards.
