I like that arrangement for AG much more. It needs that pickmeup from the drums by that point.

Seems that AG is starting to finally pick up speed on mainstream! And the media in the past few pages in the thread seems pretty positive overall! Especially the 'Self' article! How cool! Hopefully the media will stay in Kelly's positive favor for awhile!

Review: Clarkson charms audience with pop hits By BRIAN MACKEY (brian.mackey@sj-r.com) THE STATE JOURNAL-REGISTER When Kelly Clarkson ended her lively set at the Illinois State Fair Saturday night, the crowd clustered around the stage began chanting her name, hoping for an encore. "Kel-ly! Kel-ly! Kel-ly!" It's hard to imagine a similar outpouring for some of her contemporaries ("Av-ril! Fer-gie!"), and it says a lot about Clarkson's relationship with her fans. For many of the 5,067 people who went to the Grandstand concert - many, if not a majority, of them young women - Kelly is just like us. A nice young woman with girl-next-door appeal who, with a combination of luck and talent, went from nobody to star in the blink of an "American Idol" season. It's a familiar story, just another riff on the American dream. And it seems to explain why, despite Clarkson's mild demeanor and comparatively tame stage antics, she still delivers a rocking good show. Clarkson sang for just more than 80 minutes Saturday, delivering a mix of early hits such as "Miss Independent" (2003) and "Breakaway" (2004) with songs off her latest album, "All I Ever Wanted." The arrangement of the stage left no doubt that Clarkson was the star of the show. With the exception of the occasional guitar solo and a three-song acoustic set, Clarkson's 11-piece backing band remained upstage most of the show, ceding roughly half the stage to Clarkson. The band may not have had the limelight, but they were good, and massive by the standards of such shows, with the usual guitars-bass-drums-keys augmented by two female back-up singers and three horns. There was a lot of early excitement for "I Do Not Hook Up," an ode to old-fashioned courtship that had many young women in the crowd waving their hands in the air and singing along. "Oh no, I do not hook / up up, I fall deep / 'Cause the more that you try the harder I'll fight to say goodnight," Clarkson sang. Clarkson has made forays into country music in recent years, singing at the Academy of Country Music Awards in 2006 and 2007 and performing with Reba McEntire for an album of duets in 2007 and in concerts in 2008. But Saturday night's show was a thoroughly pop affair, with thudding, up-tempo beats and a DJ sharing an upstage riser with the drummer throughout the show. The only hint that Clarkson has interests beyond the pop music that has brought her so much commercial success came in a brief acoustic set in the middle of the concert. She performed an unplugged version of her 2005 hit "Behind These Hazel Eyes," a bluesy version of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight" (which featured an excellent trumpet solo with a dripping-wet sound) and "Cry," which begins with just fiddle and acoustic guitar. Opening act Eric Hutchinson, best known for the single "Rock & Roll," performed a brief-but-solid set. He has a sound somewhere between John Mayer and Jason Mraz, and performed in an ivory-colored summer suit, completing the look with a loose necktie. Clarkson closed her set with "Since U Been Gone," a 2004 hit that has been popular with fans and critics alike. It's the kind of song that too-cool-for-school types dismiss as a "guilty pleasure" in order to cover their confused embarrassment at actually liking a mainstream pop song. But however you couch it, "Since U Been Gone" is simply a great song and will likely go down in history as one of the best pop songs of the decade. Its soaring, intricately layered chorus defies you to stand still; almost no one did. The younger crowd packed around the stage was jumping up and down, and even people in the faraway Grandstand were on their feet. www.sj-r.com/entertainment/x1886167839/Review-Clarkson-charms-audience-with-pop-hits

I'm watching the Keeping up with the Kardasians marathon on E! and it just hit me that Kelly is a dead ringer for Khloe.

Do we have a sense of how tickets are selling for the fall tour? I know the NYC show sold out in minutes, but that's for a small venue in an enormous market. Also, the tickets in NY seemed pretty inexpensive compared to other NYC-area shows, but I gather that may not be true elsewhere in the country.
I don't know about sellouts or % of tickets sold, and I could be guessing wrong on the numbers, but just anecdotally, the summer fair tour seems to be playing to a lot of crowds in the 5-8,000 range, a few may have been bigger than that. Which is not bad, and I don't know if the fair shows tend to be that well-publicized, but given how well-known Kelly and her music are and what a great live show she puts on, an awful lot of people are missing out on seeing her.

Kelly pulled a member of the KCE up on stage last night in Indiana..lol. Here's another, slightly better video clip of the same thing shot from the other side of the stage: It's just impossible to watch that video and not smile. Absolutely classic Kelly the way she identifies with her fans. You could tell Kelly was having so much fun and the girl was in heaven...what's hilarious is around 2 1/2 minutes into the song they started clicking like they'd been doing this together for years.

My favorite part of that video is Kelly's reaction to Jenna singing SUBG the same way Kelly does live. You can tell she loved that.

www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,540221,00.html??test=faces Exclusive: Kelly Clarkson & Jonas Bros to Guest Judge On 'Idol'
Speaking of the hit FOX reality show, Pop Tarts has learned that Season One winner Kelly Clarkson and a Jonas Brother will join forces at next week's audition series as celeb judges to find the next singing sensation.
The move is quite a surprise on Clarkson's behalf as she has spent the last several years working hard to separate herself from the reality program. But according to a source close to the Clarkson camp, she's beyond excited to get back to the show that started it all.
Other celeb superstars joining Simon, Randy and Kara for Season 9 include Shania Twain, Jennifer Lopez, Victoria Beckham and Mary J Blige.
"At this stage it doesn't look like Paula will be replaced by one person," an insider told Tarts. "The celebrity judges are working really well for now." I assume this means she'll be on the panels judging the initial auditions, since the show won't be starting a new season for months. That's actually the tougher job, since at the audition stage the judges make the decisions. Funny how they make it sound like she's never been back to Idol.

Oh this is getting good! I am psyched that Kelly will be a guest judge on idol! That is appropriate as she was the first winner...cool! The tweens auditioning will freak over the Jonas Brother guest judging too. lol

I'll be pissed if any other idol judges because none of the others are qualified.
I hope Joe isn't on the same day as her!

^ I don't know what qualifies people as a judge but I think Kelly fits the bill pretty well. She DOES stem from this competition. She has a good ear for music. She loves to talk. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

Kelly's too nice to be a judge, I can't imagine her criticizing the contestants - lol. But it will be really cool to see her judging.

she wouldnt be performing..due the fact that its during auditions NOT judging top 13 or top 10 or whatever...i think they should of just left the 3 of them for now and when it goes to air to get the top group then to get celebrity guests..that way kelly could get some tv exposure as well as shania :) o well :)

They'll likely air snippets of her music videos, so this is good promo. Also, Kelly's really funny, so she'll charm her way to new fans.

Obama to appear in back-to-school programWASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama will appear in a back-to-school television special with singer Kelly Clarkson and basketball star LeBron James next month. Obama is appearing in a 30-minute documentary that will air at 8 p.m. Sept. 8 on BET, MTV, VH1, CMT, Comedy Central, Spike TV and Nickelodeon, all of them Viacom networks. In the program, the president says education is the key to people living out their dreams. "So as this new school year begins, I urge you to set goals for your own education: to study hard and get involved in your school, to try new things and find something you're passionate about,'' Obama says, according to a release issued Wednesday. "And that's how our nation will get ahead - by ensuring that every American gets a world-class education, from preschool to college to a career,'' Obama said. The program marks the kickoff of an education initiative by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and Viacom Inc. Called "Get Schooled,'' the five-year campaign is aimed at improving this country's dismal high school and college completion rates. In the special, Obama, Clarkson and James all are shown alongside behind-the-scenes colleagues; Obama's is speechwriter Sarah Hurwitz, who talks about her time in school and current job at the White House. Also featured are Clarkson's music director, Jason Halbert, and James' marketer, Latesha Williams. Gates official Allan Golston, president of the foundation's U.S. Program, noted Obama has made education a top priority and that schools got unprecedented money from the economic stimulus law earlier this year. "Education is the key to opportunity and economic progress, for our young people and our nation,'' Golston said. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/basketball/nba/wires/08/18/2080.ap.bkn.obama.back.to.school.hfr.1st.ld.writethru.0287/
