I loved, loved, loved Close Your Eyes and was hoping it would make the record. Maybe the next one? Or she could re-release AIEW and include both new studio tracks and demos that didn't make the cut. I'd buy that in a heartbeat.
FWIW, I think a re-release of AIEW is a good idea to kind of give it more momentum. I liked what Carrie did with "Carnival Ride" by re-releasing it with a bonus Christmas CD. That was genius.

All I Know is the song I want to hear recorded more than anything. It is just so beautiful.

'Close Your Eyes', followed by 'For All I Know' are my two favourite unreleased Kelly demo's/songs. I hope they someday get into our hands in a HQ format :) Co-sign. Close Your Eyes and All I Know are amazing. Love both songs. I'm too scared to hear another version of Close Your Eyes though. I love the lack of production on this song. It's very raw and that's part of the reason why I love it.

Kelly also has a guest spot on Idol coming up, does she not? Or is that too far off to be considered as promotion? I don't know dates for American TV shows. :x Idol doesn't start again until January (live shows February). She was rumored to be a guest judge for auditions but it was later denied by her reps. I'm hoping that she is though, if there are any more cities left for the Judges' Audition rounds.

^^ I don't care much about her judging the Idol auditions, but I would LOVE her being a mentor for the live Tuesday show and performing for the live Wednesday show (and if I could be a delusional dreamer, the kids singing songs from Kelly's catalogue: Kelly Clarkson Week On Idol ).

I'd love to see Kelly as a mentor to the contestants. She can give them advice that no one else really can - except Carrie - since they're both hugely successful Idol winners. Although, the show has changed a lot since Kelly was on "ghetto Idol". lol

I actually agree totally. Being a mentor would be the ultimate, and I really hope that she does it sometime. She's definitely far enough into her career for it to be possible, having had four albums (there's more than enough songs for the contestants to choose), and I daresay her catalogue would be more appropriate for guys than Mariah or Britney's are, simply because she's a bit edgier on many songs. I pray that it happens someday before the end of Idol.

Kelly was a mentor for Canadian Idol and got high praise from the contestants and the judges because she actually sat through a whole rehearsal with each one and gave them constructive advice.

I don't see Idol ending. If it does, we'll get a spin-off like X-Factor to satisfy us. I'm sure Kelly will eventually be involved.

Sounds from the chatter at the Express like Kelly was back in good voice at tonight's show, but dropped Whyyawannabringmedown from her set at least for tonight. I guess after the cancellation and with this being the first of three shows in four nights, she has to play it a little safe with her voice, and that song has a lot of shouting (although it's not as rough as it was when she first started doing it live).

Drug sweep nets 34 arrests Due to the evidence collected over the past four months as part of Operation Big Wheel, police laid 355 criminal charges again 34 people and seized drugs with an estimated street value of $154,000. Police also seized nine guns, three vehicles, a boat, a generator, a water pump, two outboard motors and a laptop computer. Officers also confiscated several cellphones - one of which began to ring loudly with the Kelly Clarkson song "Already Gone" as its ring tone during Friday's press conference. www.midlandmirror.com/midlandmirror/article/144570^^ Who knew- the song of choice for drug lords

Vermonters celebrate 'Idol' anniversary with Kelly Clarkson at fairKelly Clarkson seemed genuinely touched at the fan who held up a sign Friday night congratulating her on her seventh anniversary; Clarkson won the very first "American Idol" competition on Sept. 4, 2002, seven years to the day before her show at the Champlain Valley Fair. Clarkson was so affected that she told the crowd of not-quite-5,000 fans that she thought about nothing but her anniversary as she sang the next song, a cover of "Some Guys Have All the Luck" (technically she sang "Some Girls Have All the Luck" and though she introduced it as a Rod Stewart song I think of it as a Robert Palmer song that Rod Stewart covered). It was a sweet moment watching Clarkson get emotional as she thought about the televised instant that changed her life forever and turned her into a pop star. As someone who hasn't been swept up in the "American Idol" hysteria, however, I didn't come into Friday's show with high hopes. Not only do I have a degree of "Idol"-phobia, I haven't been wowed by Clarkson's songs. Despite an impressive variety of styles (rock, pop, soul, a little country) almost all her tunes have the same basic structure -- mellow start, uplift just before the chorus and the song title belted out in either the first or last line of the chorus. It's a kind of prefab songwriting that's comfortable enough but leaves no room for creative touches. She left me flat at the start with the overly glossy title tune from her latest album, "All I Ever Wanted." The size of her band was impressive, though -- Clarkson, four guitarists (including bass), a drummer, a keyboard player, a DJ, a two-man brass section and a backup vocalist. "This isn't a band," I thought, "it's Kelly Clarkson Industries." I do like her voice, which is soulful and big but not bombastic. Her stage-bounding presence rose above the spectacle her sprawling band and oppressive light show created, and her vocals consistently reached beyond her limited material, such as the energetic but too-slick "I Do Not Hook Up." Something strange happened, though, right after that whole "Some Girls Have All the Luck" happy-anniversary moment. I started getting into it. Her next song was the title track to her big-selling album "Breakaway," a slower, pretty number. Then she got a little more sinister. "If I Can't Have You" has a decadent Euro-pop techno beat, and Clarkson stretched the word "you" into a five-syllable showcase for the power of her voice. She followed that with the dark rock of "Never Again" -- you may have guessed by now that dark rock hits me where I live -- demonstrating that Kelly Clarkson is not all sweetness and light ("I was very angry when I wrote that song," she told the crowd). Then, as if to dispel the sweetness-and-light myth even further, she confessed to having "a little beer" before the show -- a framboise lambic, a fancy Belgian beer. She segued to an acoustic version of the ballad "Behind These Hazel Eyes," which sounded pretty cool. Suddenly I'm thinking to myself, "Hey, wait a minute -- I like Belgian beer and I have hazel eyes. Kelly Clarkson and I have, like, so much in common! I am seriously digging this chick!" Kelly Clarkson was doing all right, too. She said she hadn't been feeling well recently until Friday night. "I think I found my thing -- half a beer will do ya!" she said. She moved on to a cover of Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight," a great choice made better by her and her band's decision to "swamp it up a bit" and turn the country standard into a slower, bluesier number. Sweet stuff. Kelly Clarkson had won me over. Like the buzz from half a raspberry lambic, though, it couldn't last. She moved onto "Cry," a sad, slow, maudlin number, and then what she admitted was a rare happy tune for her, the '50s-flavored "I Want You," which was fun enough if a little too vacuous. I was pining for a return to that darker stuff. I was pining for more than half a Belgian lambic. By the time she made it through her encore, which included the tepid "Already Gone" and the silly pop tune "My Life Would Suck Without You," my newfound Kelly Clarkson fandom was already gone. But that's OK. We'll always have Belgian beer and hazel eyes. www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20090905/ENT05/90905008

I'm too scared to hear another version of Close Your Eyes though. I love the lack of production on this song. It's very raw and that's part of the reason why I love it. I agree with this. But maybe she can record it so it sounds like a slightly more polished version of the demo. I can see it being a HUGE hit like I'm Yours, which is the same kind of raw, super catchy song.

I think she'll do exactly what you said - just polish it up.
