I actually think pop vocal album looks better - Pink, Kanye (maaaaybe), BEPs, Lilly Allen and then Kelly. Done right? I haven't seen the whole list of submissions but there is almost always one or two older entries in there. Like the year Paul McCartney was nominated along with Sherly Crow. The list you have is very worthy but I expect to see one or two Grammy favorites on the list as well. I would love it for Kanye to not even get nominated and I will die if he wins, just die...

MLWSWY is a great, fun pop song, but IMHO it's not what you think of as an award-winning song. I can't imagine anybody who gives out awards wanting Kanye nominated for anything at this point. Also: Kelly backstage at Divas: I still think the darker hair makes her look older, and hope she goes back to the dirty-blonde or the lighter red for the fall tour. But she does look very pretty in that pic.

I LOVE the red and also the toned down blonde on blonde from the 2W2V Tour.

Can anyone be more specific about Kelly being #1 in Asia and the Phillipines? Is that radio charts, iTunes charts, their version of Billboard? Just curious!

I hope they add some Asian dates. Kelly has always been pretty popular there so why not expand on it?

Is anyone else super stoked for her tour to start tonight? I can't wait to hear some of the covers she's chosen to sing and/or some unreleased songs.

It's tomorrow. LOL. But yeah, I definitely am. I think the first VIP pre-show (where she'll likely sing the unreleased songs) is on Sunday, and that will be really cool.

So, last I checked, My Life Would Suck Without You had sold in the neigborhood of 2.1 million singles - is that worldwide, or domestic? - I Do Not Hook Up had sold around 600k, and now Already Gone has sold about 390,000. So, even aside from what I assume were maybe a few thousand sales of the remaining album tracks, Kelly has definitely cleared 3 million singles sold from AIEW. Not too shabby at all.
I know we had this discussion back when the crazy rumor was flying about RCA dropping her...I wonder how many singles do you have to sell for a radio release to be considered a money-maker independent of album sales? (It seems to me if the answer is that single sales alone won't turn you a profit on the promotional cost of putting a song on the radio, the industry's business model is in worse shape than I thought).

Those singles sales numbers are US only. Does anyone knew those figures worldwide ? There really are some gaps in the information we have, in terms of assessing the commercial success of Kelly and other pop artists. As I see it, these are the priorities in rating commercial success: 1. Worldwide album sales 2. Worldwide concert ticket sales 3. Worldwide singles sales 4. Worldwide radio airplay Most of what we look at here at Pulse is 1. US radio airplay 2. US album sales 3. US singles sales Mostly because that's the information we have easy access to. I wish we knew more of how her concerts are selling, besides just guessing from crowd sizes on video and scattered reports. Kelly's had some decent size crowds on the State Fair tour, but on the whole she seems to do a lot less well selling tickets than she should, given how famous she is and what a great concert she puts on. It's a crime to have Kelly performing for 5,000 people and 2,000 empty seats.

She is a bigger star internationally than she in the US, surely while on tour. On her last tour, she sold out Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Australia which holds 16-17,000 people. She is playing at Wembley Arena in London which is similar sized for this tour.
Speaking of the tour, I hope she sings my usual favourites + 'Save You', 'Addicted', 'Day We Fell Apart (I highly doubt she will sing that), and of course, my favourite Kelly song of all time:

Those singles sales numbers are US only. Does anyone knew those figures worldwide ? well the Global Chart is based on points in top 40 which is relatively close to sales and heres what i have (as far as Top 40 time) so it will be higher once the songs were below top 40 "My life" in week 22 had over 3.7 million (so id say 3.9-4.0 by now) "IDNHU" as of week 7 had over 651.000 (so id say 700.000 by now) "AG" so far is at 278.000 but have to keep in mind its only been in top 40 for 4 weeks so its prob around 378-400.000 total "My life" is her biggest hit WW after BOY and SYBG but its also her biggest peaking song on the Global Singles chart (#3) where BOY only made it to #4 :)

Wow, so really more like 4 million singles sold. That has to be enough to declare this era a success, as long as we're not measuring against Breakaway. From the worldwide album sales thread, still #8 among 2009 releases, which means even if Jay-Z passes her she's still got a decent shot to be one of the top 10 albums of the year globally, depending on how some of the late-year releases sell and whether she picks up enough steam to pass Lily Allen and, less likely, Bruce: U2 No Line On The Horizon 3.404.000 3.404.000 Eminem Relapse 2.719.500 2.719.500 Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. 2.547.000 2.547.000 Soundtrack Hannah Montana: The Movie 2.507.000 2.507.000 Green Day 21st Century Breakdown 2.333.500 2.333.500 Bruce Springsteen Working On A Dream 1.609.000 1.609.000 Lily Allen It's Not Me, It's You 1.534.000 1.534.000 Kelly Clarkson All I Ever Wanted 1.245.500 1.245.500 Depeche Mode Sounds Of The Universe 1.059.000 1.059.000 Jay-Z Blueprint 3 1.052.000 1.052.000
How many CDs are released Globally each year? Somewhere in the thousands. Yet, Kelly Clarkson is #8 for the year. I doubt the record company is that discontent about it. What would be more interesting for me to see is total Year to Date WorldWide Sales for any CD. I know the Michael Jackson CDs would be at the top, but that would be the most accurate chart.

Here's that list with the MJ CDs removed, leaving Kelly at #19 - not spectacular, but a respectable showing, given that the album was released in March: worldwidealbums.blogspot.com/2009/10/worldwide-estimations-during-2009.htmlLady Gaga The Fame 3.645.000 U2 No Line On The Horizon 3.404.000 Kings Of Leon Only By The Night 2.879.000 Eminem Relapse 2.719.500 Taylor Swift Fearless 2.623.000 Black Eyed Peas The E.N.D. 2.547.000 Soundtrack Hannah Montana: The Movie 2.507.000 Beyoncé I Am... I remember when the Bacsktreet Boys sold 1 million albums in one weekWith the technology now, there's so much piracy. I visited Juarez, Mexico a couple of months ago. You could buy an entire copy of a KC CD for $1 OR you could buy the entire MP3 Repertoire of Kelly Clarkson music (roughly 130 songs in a data cd) for $1.50... Nowadays... music is practically free if you have internet. :(
