Lovin' the continued upward movement of 'Already Gone' up to #27. What was the peak of 'Hook Up' on Hot 100- was it 19 or 20 ? Thanks in advance !

It peaked at 20 on Hot 100, 8 on CHR/Pop.
Much as I'd love Top 5, this song would be a significant success if it peaks where IDNHU did on CHR/Pop, if it has a longer run there. It's a much better digital seller and doing well on HAC, so it should mostly keep pace on the Hot 100 with its CHR/Pop placement.

too bad Mimi wont even chart in MOST of the world w/ her new album and single and barely squeezed a top 10 from her new album LOL while Kelly had an instant #1 in the US and UK. lambs nowadays esp. - really need to think b4 talkin smack ;) Her weight is already gone? Or her fame is? ;) Too bad most of her fans are oversized pigs who eat cd cases of Breakaway, which is in fact most of the United Ranch of America, and that includes you. Oh, the whole Philippines booed her when Archie did an interview with the people there ;) and the poor Gayvid had to defend her.... Poor piggy, she can't sang but she can oink. HA! Mariah and Kelly probably weigh close to the same damn thing. Mariah's always been a fat chick, stuck in an average chick, desperate to be a thin chick. Kelly maybe be heavy, but at least she's happy...which might explain why she can sing circles around the washed up forty-something who sounds like a drowning cat who spent its life as a chronic smoker. To add some frosting on Kelly's sugar high, add on an opening week that totaled a hundred thousand more than MooMoo's crap album in a weaker sales period of the year (don't forget that big FAT ol' "I Wanna Know What Flop Is") and you look like an idiot who got smacked with a bad case o Karma.

I'm surprised this isn't a bigger hit yet It's a ballad, they tend to climb slower than uptempo songs. It's doing just fine, it keeps climbing and the sales keep increasing steadily. I'm really happy with how it's doing.

I'm really happy with how it's doing. 100% agree. If 'Already Gone' continues it's moderate but steady climb in sales and radio airplay (both of which have been nearly directly proportional thus far), it could achieve a peak after Thanksgiving before the holidays. Such a timing could provide great singles sales for longevity's sake, but also album sales in the sales-heavy holiday season.

Perhaps people just aren't thinking about buying AIEW... That needs to change.

Damn. I was hoping they'd submit Suck only because Beyonce submittied Halo. I prefer AG, but I'm afraid B will get the vote. (I know, dead horse, but what are the odds they'd nominate both. I'm thinking they'll split votes.)

WOW I think that was a mistake, honestly. Hopefully they'll see Kelly Clarkson and just vote for that anyway. I do think AG is the stronger track, just that it lacks the instant name recognition that MLWSWY does. Plus it was a smash, when AG is still climbing. OH WELL, I'm not expecting more than a female pop vocal nod anyway, so I don't think this is that big of an issue anyway.

Thanks neally! And I agree with almost everything you said kmbgs. If AG did win, just imagine the impact it will have on the song. The song is such a slow riser anyways that by the time it is just about done peaking, the Grammy's could give it another boost Very surprised that they chose MLWSWY over AG. Hopefully they'll look at the quality of the song rather than the success of it. :) It's a bit unfair to say whether or not AG is going to come close to the level of success 'Suck' had since it hasn't peaked yet but the quality is definitely there.

Kanye West applied for "Best Pop Vocal Album". I kinda want Kelly or P!nk to win just to see what happens...
Kelly has some big competition. "Single Ladies" and "Halo" are in most catagories "Already Gone" is. Lily Allen, P!nk, Kanye, and B.E.P are all going for pop album.
I hope she takes a few home, but I'd be happy with a fwe nominations and one win.

oh GOD Pop album seems less likely given that competition. Pop vocal, though, I could potentially see a win in. Fingers crossed!

She could win for both Pop vocal and Pop album! Let's keep postive thoughts..I would be shocked however if AIEW was nominated for Album of the Year lol.

Kelly Clarkson at Mohegan Sun on Oct. 2Kelly Clarkson and Melissa Etheridge perform onstage during 2009 VH1 Divas. (CHRISTOPHER POLK, GETTY IMAGES / September 17, 2009) By ERIC R. DANTON October 1, 2009 If the creators of "American Idol" had anything in mind beyond cashing in on the increasingly sedentary habits of the American public, you have to think it was a performer like Kelly Clarkson, someone with intense potential and room to grow. That's Clarkson, all right. As the winner on the first season of the show, she is the original American Idol, and still the standard, for several reasons: her strong voice and determination not to repeat herself not least among them. There's also her commercial viability. Clarkson, who performs Friday at Mohegan Sun, remains the only "American Idol" finalist whose second album has outsold her first (though given time, Daughtry could also achieve that distinction). Clarkson's 2003 debut, "Thankful," has sold about 4 million copies worldwide. The follow-up, 2004's "Breakaway," has sold more than 13 million copies. That one was a career album, but her third and fourth releases have done just fine, too: 2007's "My December" (more on that in a minute) has sold more than 2.5 million copies worldwide, and this year's "All I Ever Wanted" has moved more than 1.3 million units. It's easy to account for the volume: Clarkson can sing. In fact, she has a terrific voice, capable of great power and subtlety in equal measures. "One of the great voices in pop music," Blender magazine wrote in 2007. After performing with her in 2007, Jeff Beck told Elle magazine, "She's got this maturity, you know, this fully developed soul voice that I wasn't expecting. It just knocked me out. It was quite riveting to listen to." Beck isn't the only one who thinks so: Clarkson won a Grammy in 2006 for best pop vocal album for "Breakaway." The same year, she won best female pop vocal performance for the song "Since U Been Gone." She was nominated in the same category in 2004 for "Miss Independent." She's earned recognition for more than just her voice. Clarkson won songwriting awards in 2004 and 2006 from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, including song of the year for "Because of You," which she wrote when she was 16. Those honors precipitated the most turbulent period of her career. Much to the dismay of her record label, RCA, Clarkson decided to follow "Breakaway" with "My December," an album of darker, more personal songs, all of which she wrote or co-wrote. As the story goes, label chief Clive Davis opposed the idea so much that he offered Clarkson $10 million to swap five of her songs for five more radio-friendly tunes of his choosing. She wasn't pleased. "Everybody always wants me to go in different directions," she told MTV News in 2007. "Obviously they're a record label, so they need to sell records. They want the formula writers and the formula producers that do everybody else's stuff." Although the reviews were kinder than Davis' histrionics would have predicted, sales were disappointing, and Clarkson again collaborated with some of pop's biggest hit makers on "All I Ever Wanted." That didn't go so well, either, thanks to Ryan Tedder. Tedder co-wrote Clarkson's song "Already Gone," which bears marked similarities to Beyoncé's song "Halo," which Tedder also wrote. Clarkson was furious when RCA released "Already Gone" as a single this summer. "No one's going to be sitting at home, thinking 'Man, Ryan Tedder gave Beyoncé and Kelly the same track to write to'," Clarkson told Canada's CBC News in July. "No, they're just going to be saying I ripped someone off. I called Ryan and said, 'I don't understand. Why would you do that?'" Tedder has denied giving the same track to both artists. Regardless, the fuss died down, "Already Gone" has climbed as high as No. 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, and Clarkson opens her fall tour at Mohegan Sun, with some surprises. "We're actually all pretty pumped about it because we're adding different songs, and we just built an entire stage for this specific tour," she writes on her blog, iamkelly.wordpress.com. "We're also doing a pre-show party, too, so we're all learning songs for that as well. I'll be singing some covers by artists I like and some unreleased songs, which will be fun." its interesting that MLWSWY wasn't submitted with it being such a big hit for Kelly, i wonder who made that decision?.
EDIT: i think the label can submitted what they want?, so they must think AG has a better chance. I would of thought they would push hard for MLWSWY.

these are all good points..however..they could of saw My life as a generic copy of SYBG and since they already awarded that..it would seem hard to get them a nomination...also...the record company pushed hard for AG to be released and with the great reception and contreversal side..they prob saw it as a shoo in for a nomination..where as my life would be harder to push for win..despite its success...alllsssooo Halo is basically done on the charts...AG is still rising..this may be a great advantage when voting happens..the song is still in peoples heads right now and will be until voting ends..

Well, no matter what they choose to submit, I hope to see some actual nominations come out of it. She deserves them, and of course wins, but I am bias, lol!
Wow, only 3 weeks until my show, can't freakin wait....can't wait to see the new setlist tomorrow for this new tour. I have vowed to not really follow too much info so I can save some surprises for the night of my show...but I do want to see the setlist......I am hoping for the Black Keys, You're the One cover..... And so pumped because my sister and I are going to catch the J/K show the night before, so that should be awesome as well.

wow - i always thought female pop performance was the biggest shoe-in but I see 8 strong contenders for the 5 spots: Halo, Already Gone, Battlefield (the Tedder tracks) - then The Climb, Sober, She-Wolf, You Belong With Me and Circus. Ugh...
I actually think pop vocal album looks better - Pink, Kanye (maaaaybe), BEPs, Lilly Allen and then Kelly. Done right?
