I'm still hoping to see her either in Las Vegas or San Jose, so I'm trying to not watch these videos to keep it a surprise...but with such glowing reviews it's VERY difficult.

Some comparing info on Kelly's cds... --->its important not to look at the amount of cds that kellys albums sold when comparing due to the economy etc but the chart positions alone is a good indicator
Thankful in the US at week #29 (nov 2003) was at #105 on the Billboard chart and had sold an est 1.6-1.65 million copies at that time total
Breakaway in the US at week #29 (jun 2005) was at #12 on the billboard chart with over 71.000 copies sold WOW!! and had over 2.4 million copies sold at that time
My December in the US at week #29 (jan 2008) was off the top 200 with 2.000 copies sold (742.000 sold total)
AIEW in the US at week #29 (oct 2009) is at #79 with over 5.500 copies sold (711.000)
so really her album is CHARTING better then thankful and My December...so it makes me feel confident that she will outbeat MD...i expect her to sell 60-70.000 copies from now until January (first week after christmas boots) that would (if it follows MD sales and chart positions from October- beg of Jan to 770-780K...and with MD sales following till i have no more info which is Dec 2008...he album will sell another 40.000 copies and finish with 820.000 copies...this is all hypathetical and based on the pattern of MD...sooo take into considerating a huge hit that is rising up the charts and possible new singles...this album should reach 850.000 copies when its all said and done...i hope!!!!

First of all, I was at the Mohegan Sun Friday night, and it was beyond amazing. Its still hard to believe that Kelly sang "Seven Nation Army" and that it was that good.
Second, while there's an obvious upside to AIEW outselling MD, there's also a downside, that suits, especially Clive Davis, will think that he's vindicated, especially because he did a lot of the A&R on AIEW, even though the liner notes don't reflect that. If AIEW doesn't outsell MD, then Davis and the jerk executives at RCA don't look so great.

Wow at last night's performances. This is why I say she is the vocal chameleon and has yet again reached a new vocal peak. I seriously was in amazement listening to the White Stripes cover and the other covers (Black Keys and Alanis/Kings of Leon mashup). Her vocal range and soulful depiction of each lyrics is literally out of this world. I'm looking forward to seeing her next week An interesting read: Ryan Tedder Interview OneRepublic and Projects With Adam Lambert, Leona Lewis, and Adele By Bill Lamb, About.com Bill: What about a favorite song for another artist? Ryan: I've gotta be honest, man, "Already Gone"still gives me goosebumps. I love the crap out of "Already Gone." I love that one and for the first time ever, last week in Orlando I heard "Happy," the Leona song, on the radio, and that might be my new favorite. That's one of my favorite songs of all time I think that I've written or had any part of. I can say honestly that what I was tallking about a minute ago about writing the kind of songs that people can actually, that can change people's lives and actually affect people, that's one of those songs. Those are the kind of songs that when I'm old and gray and not writing anymore, "Happy" is the kind of song I want to be known for. Those kind of songs. top40.about.com/od/popmusicproducers/a/ryantedderinterview.htm

Review: Kelly Clarkson opens fall tour at Mohegan SunBy Eric R. Danton on October 3, 2009 10:53 AM If Kelly Clarkson harbored any lingering hard feelings about the flap this summer over her song "Already Gone," she didn't let it show Friday at Mohegan Sun. She also didn't perform the song the way it sounds on the album, abandoning the blustery arrangement co-writer Ryan Tedder used in similar form on Beyonce's "Halo" in favor of a simpler acoustic set up. It worked beautifully, just like the rest of the opening show on Clarkson's fall tour. With a mix of songs from each of her four albums, and a handful of eclectic covers, the original -- and best -- "American Idol" champion showcased her powerful voice for 90 minutes. Backed by an 11-piece band, including three horns, and an enthusiastic audience well versed in her songs, Clarkson looked like she was having a great time. She waved at people in the crowd, beamed brightly when the crowd took over on vocals and jumped in circles when she was particularly immersed in a song. The band took the tiered stage first, then Clarkson suddenly appeared at the back of the top level on "All I Ever Wanted," the title track from her latest album. She ranged back and forth through her catalog, belting "Miss Independent" as little cyclones of squalling guitar revolved around her, and exhorting the crowd to clap on "I Do Not Hook Up," an upbeat assertion of self. She started the covers with a mashup-style medley of Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody," blending one into the other. Later, after sending her voice effortlessly soaring over the band on "Breakaway" and digging into the pulsing synthesizers and techno rhythm of "If I Can't Have You," she sang a soul-drenched version of the Black Keys' bluesy, slow-burning "Lies." Next came a torchy rendition of the Patsy Cline standard "Walking After Midnight," before Clarkson returned to her own material with "Behind These Hazel Eyes," performed on acoustic guitar so she could hear the crowd sing the chorus. Many of Clarkson's songs are heartbreaking -- "Because of You," for example, or "Never Again" -- but she showed a happier side on the bouncy '60s-style pop "I Want You" and the booming, optimistic "Ready," enlivened by brass on the chorus. She ended the main set with her biggest hit, "Since U Been Gone," before returning for a three-song encore that started with "Already Gone" and also featured a horn-laced version of the White Stripes' song "Seven Nation Army." She closed with "My Life Would Suck Without You." Eric Hutchinson opened the show with 45 minutes of lightweight pop songs. Kelly Clarkson's set list 1. All I Ever Wanted 2. Miss Independent 3. I Do Not Hook Up 4. Impossible 5. That I Would Be Good/Use Somebody 6. Breakaway 7. If I Can't Have You 8. Never Again 9. Lies 10. Walking After Midnight 11. Behind These Hazel Eyes 12. Cry 13. I Want You 14. Ready 15. Because of You 16. Walk Away 17. Since U Been Gone Encore 18. Already Gone 19. Seven Nation Army 20. Ok, I was going to not listen to any media before my show at the end of the month.....I caved just to get a feel, and anyway, when I hear it live it will be a TOTALLY different experience.
The Alanis/Leon cover? Wow....that was gut wrenching....usually when Kelly sings more meaningful songs, I tear up instantly....this one had tears falling down....is that crazy??
Does anyone else think 7 Nation Army sounds very Eurthymics? Killer.
Anyway, does anyone know is this the most covers Kelly has done on a tour?

This has nothing to do with sales but that's why I'm pretty happy that Already Gone got submitted over Life Would Suck. If she wins a Grammy for the song, it will have HER name attached to it seeing that she wrote it and is singing it. :)

Tonight was the start of the pre-show party for people who bought VIP tickets. Kelly sang 2 songs, "Tomorrow Night" by Patty Griffin and a new song called "All of Me", it's for her mom.
thanks to Tricia from KCE for the info.

The comments on that youtube clip you posted neally are awful. At least it has 30,000+ views... Eh, the only bad ones I saw were a few about her weight (of course), and one by some Alanis fan who got HELLA pissed because someone said Kelly outdid Alanis on her own song. Anyway, I hope we get to hear that new song she performed at the VIP thing tonight.

All of the covers are phenomenal. She does an amazing job doing covers... She should do a concert of covers and release it as a DVD/CD. I would so buy it.

That is great that you are doing the pre show at Vegas, yay for you!
I just read over at the Express for the show last night that it was mentioned that Kelly may be changing up the pre show songs for the different stops.
Here is the actual post for ya....oh and the gift for the VIP1 were Ipod speakers w/Kelly Clarkson AIEW tour on them.

a little more info about the pre-show party, from wacky4alanis on KCE:
So the VIP pre-show was awesome! There were only like 30 people there in a tiny room, so it was a very intimate setting. They had free food and drinks, and we waited around for about 25 minutes before the band came in to get ready. Then Kelly walked in and sat down. She was very chatty and happy to be there The first song she did was "All of Me" - an unreleased track that she dedicated to her Mom. She says it's to sort of make up for all of the crap her Mom gets over "Because of You" LOL It's a very nice song - and I guess she wrote it with the guy who wrote "Godspeed" with the Dixie Chicks. The second song was a Patty Griffin cover called "Tomorrow Night". Amazingly - she had pretty much her full band with her - no backing vocals or horns, but pretty much everybody else. They were really packed in.

I Want You is my favorite song on the album. It's really grown on me, I thought it was just blah the first time I heard it, and it's so much fun live. I'd love to see it as a single if this era lasts into next summer. Real sleeper potential as a hit.
