I Want You is my favorite song on the album. It's my #2 off the album (after "Already Gone"). I always picture Kelly in a drive-in diner outfit & rollerskates or Soda Pop shop whenever I hear the song, haha.

I always imagine Kelly in this outfit doing her little dance when I hear it: Me too, actually. The video for I Want You will present some interesting choices, if we get that as a single.

I didn't realize until just now that the DJ does a really cool mashup of 'One Minute', 'Gone', and 'Long Shot' under a great light show before Kelly performs 'Seven Nation Army':

I just read an article w/ Aranda (sp?), and have a question of curiousity.....the article talked about how Kelly was turned on to their music through Tamyra and listened to them on MySpace. She really dug it and then purchased the rights to the songs.....she had thought that the songs were demos from unpublished musicians, she didn't know that the songs had been released on an album until her album was ready to come out and she called Aranda to ask if it was ok if she still did the songs.........ok, my question.......shouldn't someone had told Kelly that the songs weren't demos, like maybe the producers for both songs, or something? I am slightly confused how that didn't come up during the recording process or anything..... I love I Want You, it is my ringtone for my husband.

I think this is the best and most powerful performance of it yet. Plus, the whole performance is there, with intro.

RollingStone Kelly Clarkson Mixes Biggest Hits With White Stripes, Kings of Leon Covers in New York10/7/09, 10:42 am EST In the middle of Kelly Clarkson's third long, endearing monologue last night, she faced the crowd of 3,000-plus jubilant fans at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom and became one herself: "That song was 'Lies' from Attack & Release if you want to go get it," she said of the Black Keys cover she had begun as a bruising a cappella. "I really love music - like, all kinds." Clarkson is as comfortable stomping her boots to garage-punk like the White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" as she is flexing her drawl on Patsy Cline's "Walking After Midnight" and bouncing up and down to her own pop masterpieces like "My Life Would Suck Without You." She did all three with remarkable skill on the third date of her new tour behind All I Ever Wanted, putting her mark on the oft-covered Stripes track with scorching, bluesy runs. There were no dancers, no acrobatics, no moving set pieces and no special effects: the stars of Clarkson's show are her emotive, powerful voice and her down-home charm. She made the rounds back and forth across the stage in front of her sharp 11-piece band, but gravitated to its center, right hand wrapped around the mic and her left resting on her chest as she effortlessly belted uptempos like "All I Ever Wanted" and "If I Can't Have You" and ballads like "Breakaway" and "Cry." She clearly required no pyrotechnics: the audience's adoration of the Texas singer was so palpable, as she sang about being defeated by love again and again you could practically feel the room wonder en masse "Why can't she just find a good guy?" Bitter rocker "Never Again" from My December got a Euro-disco makeover with see-sawing, throbby synths, and a trio of horn players added brassy blasts to "I Do Not Hook Up" and "Walk Away," which grooved with a taste of Duffy's retro soul. But Clarkson seemed most delighted with her selection of covers, which started with a merging of Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" with the wailing chorus of Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody." Clarkson recalled seeing the Kings open for U2, and revealed Morissette is one of her musical heroes. "I wish I'd written that song, but I didn't," she said, innocently adding, "But singles are never my favorites on albums anyway." Stripped down to broad acoustic strokes, though, Alanis' influence was evident on the chorus of "Behind These Hazel Eyes." Clarkson paid homage to another of her inspirations, Reba McEntire (who was in the audience) by recalling her freak-out after the phone conversation that led to the pair collaborating on "Because of You." The crowd handled its half of the duet last night, singing unabashedly along to "Breakaway" and "Already Gone," too. Clarkson was happy to play cheerful conductor, holding up her mic stand to the crowd and sharing wholesome stories. She told fans in the front rows to disregard any seeds caught in her teeth from a blueberry smoothie she had pre-show: "I do brush my teeth, I'm not a dirty girl." When the chugging guitar riff that heralded the arrival of mega-smash "Since U Been Gone" arrived, the room turned into an electric sea of flailing arms and pogo-ing heads. It doesn't matter if critics name the track one of the best songs of the decade, though it's certainly a contender for Number One - Clarkson's delivery of the most chipper kiss-off anthem of all time is enough to make anyone a superfan. Set List: "All I Ever Wanted" "Miss Independent" "I Do Not Hook Up" "Impossible" "That I Would Be Good"/"Use Somebody" (Alanis Morisette and Kings of Leon covers) "Breakaway" "If I Can't Have You" "Never Again" "Lies" (Black Keys cover) "Walking After Midnight" (Patsy Cline cover) "Behind These Hazel Eyes" "Cry" "I Want You" "Ready" "Because of You" "Walk Away" "Since U Been Gone" "Already Gone" "7 Nation Army" (White Stripes cover) "My Life Would Suck Without You" Caryn Ganz www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/10/07/kelly-clarkson-mixes-biggest-hits-with-white-stripes-kings-of-leon-covers-in-new-york/

MTVOct 7 2009 10:47 AM EDT Kelly Clarkson Fans Turn New York Concert Into A Giant Karaoke PartySinger performed songs from her latest album, All I Ever Wanted, as well as her older songs and covers of Alanis Morissette, Kings of Leon.By Jim Cantiello Kelly Clarkson performs at Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City on Tuesday Photo: Jason Kempin/ Getty ImagesKelly Clarkson brings everyone together: the young, the old, the gay, the straight, the hipsters, the teenyboppers, the Glamberts, the Allen Nation. The proof was at her All I Ever Wanted New York City tour stop Tuesday night, where a sold-out crowd of 2,500 concertgoers representing all walks of life collectively screamed their heads off for more than 90 minutes. Predictably, the Hammerstein Ballroom exploded into a giant karaoke party every time Kelly tore through one of her mega-hits - and she passionately tackled them all, even "Miss Independent," from her debut album. But the crowd was just as happy when Clarkson visited the deep cuts of her latest album, All I Ever Wanted. In fact, Kelly announced that she just had to include "Impossible" on tour because the fans demanded it. Kelly's 11-piece backing band - featuring a horn section and a turntablist, among others - sounded tight, but the real star of the show was Clarkson's pitch-perfect vocals, which she used to great effect in her expansive set. Her low chest-voice cooed the verses of "Breakaway" while her upper register got an intense workout on tunes like show-opener "All I Ever Wanted" and "Cry." Kelly also showcased an emotive falsetto that moved some fans to tears. (Important to note that Clarkson is only three shows into this leg of the tour. Time will tell if she can keep her voice in tip-top shape. If she sounds this good by the time 2010 rolls around, the government should step in and investigate her as an illegal alien from another planet.) Not shying away from the things that made her famous to begin with - covers - Kelly saved plenty of room for showstopping renditions of other artists' tunes. In the 20-song set, Clarkson crooned a sexy, bluesy version of Patsy Cline's "Walkin' After Midnight," a rousing White Stripes' "Seven Nation Army" and a soulful, partially a cappella Black Keys' "Lies." Kelly even went so far as to name-check the Black Keys' album, Attack & Release, and urged her fans to run out and pick up a copy, since the reaction to Clarkson's live cover was so overwhelmingly positive. Kelly told the crowd, "I really love music. I like all kinds." But it was an early mash-up of two of her "favorite" songs - Alanis Morissette's "That I Would Be Good" and Kings of Leon's "Use Somebody" - that garnered the biggest applause of the covers, perhaps because the lyrics felt especially meaningful coming from Clarkson's lips. Lines like "That I would be good even if I got the thumbs down/ That I would be good even if I gained 10 pounds" addressed two of Clarkson's biggest tabloid scandals - her battle with Clive Davis over My December and her fluctuating weight - while Kings of Leon's refrain of "You know that I could use somebody" felt all the more heart-wrenching surrounded by Alanis' verses about insecurity and self-doubt. Kelly gave all the credit to her music director, Jason Halbert, who helped Clarkson dream up the effective arrangement. (He also appeared onstage as the keyboard player throughout the night.) Elsewhere, Halbert and Kelly rearranged her own tunes without changing them beyond recognition. The most noticeable redo was the sole My December song of the night, "Never Again," which was given a disco-pop makeover to help it fit in with the electronic-oriented tracks from her latest album. A couple of her ballads, "Already Gone" and "Behind These Hazel Eyes," were stripped down to just guitars and vocal. Kelly claimed "Hazel" was rearranged to maximize audience sing-along potential. It worked. Ironically, it was two of her own songs that stuck out like sore thumbs on the set list. The back-to-back bounce of "Ready" and "I Want You" was the closest thing to a bathroom-break opportunity during the tight show, with the latter sounding like a Duffy throwaway and the former suffering from a jaunty arrangement that sounded more like a theme song to an '80s sitcom than the way it sounds on her album. Luckily, Kelly quickly brought the show back into focus with a stunning "Because of You," which featured a glory note so powerful, it literally stopped the show. Clarkson paused for almost 30 seconds because the audience erupted in such wild applause. Reba McEntire, who herself had a hit with "Because of You," was spotted in the VIP section beaming with pride. Despite all the angst and drama on display in her popular songs, Kelly's stage banter was anything but dreary. The girl next door made every audience member feel like her best friend, confessing that she had just guzzled down a blueberry protein shake before the gig. "People in the front row, if you see things in my teeth ... I brush my teeth three times a day! I'm not a dirty girl," she assured the crowd. The main set wrapped up with an irresistible one-two punch of Breakaway standout "Walk Away" and the insanely successful "Since U Been Gone." (You don't need me to tell you that thousands of sweaty people jumped up and down in unison during that one.) An out-of-place DJ scratched for a couple of minutes before the encore, giving Kelly a chance to change her outfit, and perhaps subliminally reminding "Idol" fans that Blake Lewis released his sophomore album earlier that day. Clarkson closed the show with "My Life Would Suck Without You," turning the quirky love song into a love letter to her fans who have stuck with her all these years, through thick and thin, My December and beyond. On Tuesday night at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Kelly made it clear that her life would suck without us, and music fans' lives would suck without Kelly Clarkson. www.mtv.com/news/articles/1623261/20091007/clarkson_kelly.jhtml

I love that performance of the Alanis/KOL mashup. I hope another vid will surface that has slightly better audio but it still sounds great!

I was at last night's show and seriously folks, I thought I was (just a bit ) biased in my awe with Kelly's vocal talent, but I feel satisfied that I am not alone in my thinking. Kelly seems to be at a new vocal peak (again)- not sure how long she will keep peaking for, but I'll take it because her own songs, such as 'Because of You', and her covers are simply ridiculous ! IMO, Kelly by a fairly large margin has the best voice among all contemporary female vocalists of all genres, when factoring in her top-notch tone, power, range, chameleon-like versatility, consistency, head voice/chest voice, soulfulness, and most important emotive ability/lyrical interpretation. For purely selfish reasons, I do hope she continues to sing professionally for years and years to come...

What notes are the notes she's belting at the end of Lies and Walking After Midnight? Sick. She changed up the ending to 'Walking After Midnight' in last night's NYC show and hits a G5 so effortless at 3:29: In 'Lies', she hits another G5 at 2:00: Please correct me if I am wrong.
