Empty Handed sounded like it was recorded around the MD era. It really reminded me a lot of "Can I Have a Kiss" and not just because of the country feel to it. The other song sounded really old, like I wouldn't even be surprised to learn it was some super old demo she did before Idol. lol I actually think that song has the most potential but it seemed like Kelly was just singing the lyrics and had not yet worked out how she wanted to approach the song. It really seemed like a test run or something. I just think that could make a beautiful song for someone one day.

Whether that's a good thing or not, hm. I do believe both of these songs were done with Jimmy Messer so I would rule out pre-Idol.

Cool, nothing like 2 new Kelly songs to start the day!
Cute little songs, I like Empty Hander, like the lyrics, I know Kelly didn't write it but it almost sounds like it could be about her...
And wow, Kelly is like a vintage wine, isn't she? Man the longer she's around, the better she gets.....amazing.

After you listen to those two demos you can hear that Kelly could be a huge country star, imo.

The only person that deserves to be in that category is Lady GaGa. Beyonce is R&B and Taylor is country... And they are already nominated in their respective categories. These slots should have been filled with Kelly or Katy Perry or someone that actually had a decent year and is a pop artist.

The nominations are crap, especially since Bey and Taylor are throw-away nominations because I fully expect Gaga to win the pop category, or at least she SHOULD. They could have given the other 2 pop nominations to Kelly and Britney who have actually put out pop music this year and have a big following. The biggest load of crap is the nominations for Michael Jackson. He got nominated because he died and only because he died. There was no new music released until, what, yesterday and that was a song he did in the 80's.

It's funny because a lot of country fans think taylor belongs to pop, and now pop fans say she belongs to country lol I would have loved to see kelly nominated but I don't think she cares that much about it, so...

lots of deserving people shut out for sure...I have never been a big fan of the AMAs though so its not a big deal to me. I doubt Kelly cares much either - remember she won artist of the year and she wasn't even there to accept it. I think she was touring abroad or something...

The AMA's are based largely on sales. There was no way Kelly was going to be nominated when that is the criteria. Hoping for a performance of Already Gone, though. That would be such great exposure for the album, and the song will probably be well into the Top 10 by then.

Given that Michael Jackson had to drop dead to get nominated, I'd rather be in Kelly's shoes than MJ's. Kelly will perform before another adoring crowd in Boston tonight. For now, that will have to be her award. Face it, this era is about good songs and good shows. It's not Kelly's year for respect.

^ Have a good time! :)
So I just got around to listening to the new songs. I love Empty Handed, I think it would make a great single if it was put on an album. After The Love is nothing special for me, but I'm thrilled to have some new KC songs!

At least initially, I had the opposite reaction, preferred After the Love. Neither is among Kelly's better work, but they're both reminiscent of the second-tier tracks on Breakaway, which were mostly solid songs. Kelly's voice as always is lovely, but if she recorded those now, they'd be more emotional.

Kelly Clarkson at easeBrian Coulton 13 October 2009 09:40 On tour, she replaces dancers with horn and string sections. On stage, she wears jeans instead of jumpsuits. And in life, Kelly Clarkson just wants to be herself. "If I had of started off trying to create a whole different image around myself, I'd be very unhappy right now," said the inaugural American Idol winner, 27. "I'm happy I started off on this foot." It's a foot of humility, compared to the more self-admiring, sexualized starlets of pop with whom Clarkson shares the spotlight. But even though she still considers her seven-year-old Idol victory "lucky" and "a blessing," and talks down her 20 million plus worldwide record sales, her modesty hasn't kept her out of the tabloid culture for which train wrecks like Britney Spears and Amy Winehouse are usually fodder. "I think it's human nature to automatically go to those juvenile little places in your head," said Clarkson. In the past year, she's been criticized for gaining weight and accused of being a lesbian because of her singlehood, in the celebrity press. But she said she's always been the butt of some sort of criticism in such circles and after almost a decade in the industry, she doesn't really care. "I'm very comfortable in my skin. Sometimes I do wish other people would be as comfortable in theirs, so maybe they didn't have to critique everyone so much," she said, "But you can't ask people to change. They are who they are." However comfortable, for Clarkson, doesn't mean unchallenged. She said the most onerous part of her career has not related to her celebrity, but standing up for herself, to have her voice heard behind-the-scenes, "without being blackmailed," she said with a laugh.
"I've had to do that with every record since day one," she said. "It's kind of flattering, because everyone wants to be part of your career but at the same time, it can be very hard because there are so many cooks in the kitchen."
The major record labels have inhibited artists out of fear because of financial shortages, said Clarkson, who doesn't know what course of action she'll take when her recording contract expires. But she said the cash-strapped, creativity-curtailing excuse is bogus, and anyone who uses it is just being greedy. :o
"It's really hard to be super-creative in this environment," she said, "There are no Bruce Springsteens or Janice Joplins going on right now. If there are, they're not working with a record label." Kelly Clarkson performs at Casino Rama tomorrow night with The Veronicas and Parachute. www.metronews.ca/toronto/entertainment/article/339143--kelly-clarkson-at-ease

Ah, Kelly. Saw this only on Twitter, made me laugh: xnjboy89: 50 cent just admitted to wanting to sleep with kelly clarkson on national tv, how do I get to that point about 13 hours ago from txt JosserM: 50 Cent just said he would pork Kelly Clarkson on VH1...I bet he would. (via @joebreezyonair) even after she gained all that weight? 3 days ago from Tweetie JoeBreezyOnAir: 50 Cent just said he would pork Kelly Clarkson on VH1...I bet he would. Well, it's one kind of respect, anyway. BTW, maybe it's just me but Kelly really looks at her last few shows like she's really lost some weight since the end of the summer tour. Maybe not enough for some people, but you can tell. Don't want to make too much of it, she goes up and down and she looks fine either way, and people obsess too much about it anyway.

People obsess so much about her weight, including those who post comments about her looking thinner lately. She doesn't. She still looks the same. But comments like this initiate the discussions about weight. I think her weight (gains or losses) should not be discussed anymore, if she truly "looks fine either way".

Actually, I saw a few pictures of Kelly at Jill and Kate's concert last night, and she did look thinner, lol.

When an artist is in this industry or in the public eye in general, they open themselves up to scrutiny and discussion. I don't remember anyone not wanting to talk about her hot body during the Breakaway era. Anyway, I don't think you're in the position to be telling anyone what to discuss or in this case not discuss...kthx!

Didn't mean to reopen that can of worms. I was listening to the downloaded audio of the Hammerstein show from here kellbclarkson.blogspot.com/2009/10/hammerstein-ballroom-ny-audio-cd.htmland there's gotta be a half dozen songs there that are the best performances yet of particular songs - some are the new additions (Ready, Impossible, Seven Nation Army) but I definitely think it was her best live performances of IDNHU and AIEW, and Never Again rivals the version she did at the show in Oklahoma.
