I said my bit on the poll thread - I'd prefer IICHY, then AIEW, then I Want You, but I'd be fine if they rolled the dice with AIEW next. In all likelihood they'll pull the plug on this era before we get three more singles (we'll be lucky to get two), but if album sales generally seem to be picking up by next year, I could see the labels wanting to push a little harder to try to sell albums like this one that keep hanging around but haven't reached the market they should have.
How often do singles get released only to HAC? I still think even if it doesn't go to Pop, Ready could be a hit on the HAC format. I assume it's a lot cheaper to promote a single only to the smaller format, but maybe not. Ditto for sending Cry to the Country format, for which it is better suited.

I'd love IICHY as the next single, and then Cry.

IICHY then I Want You if they're gonna stick with 5 singles, but if they're gonna do 6 singles (which they should) then IICHY, I Want You, then Cry or Save You

So to celebrate the AMA news, I go to the Twitter thread on the Express, only to find everyone bitching at each other and had to click through tons of pages. Oh lord. Anyway, I'm so glad that she's performing at this. For once the speculating and hoping turned out to be true!

Very excellent news on both fronts.
BTW, I saw this "Walk Away" clip from early 2006
and was thinking how much Kelly's voice has developed since then. She's in pretty good voice on that clip and does some really cool riffs - it's a very good performance - yet you can still hear her pulling up short or forcing things at a bunch of spots, compared to how she belts it out today

For once the rumors turned out to be true! That's fantastic news...that show is hit or miss with ratings so I hope they do a good job promoting it. :)

I hope it's not a stripped down performance. She needs something spectacular to push the song to the level it is on the record.

So happy for this. The song is just peaking at the right time. If she does perform Already Gone at the AMA's, it could give her enough of a push sales wise to really do some damage on the charts.

If Kelly is nominated for Grammy's I think RCA will re release her album with a 4th single right near the Grammy week. I'm pretty sure they are at least thinking about one unless they intend on pushing another album by the end of 2010.
If not I think Kelly will push for IICHY and the label will want AIEW. Cry is also probably in the running. IMO any of these 3 would make a good 4th single. Cry is perfect for the time of season and would really sell the album. AIEW has an amazing chorus that demands attention and would bring attention to the album. IICHY is the biggest chance for her to have a huge smash like MLWSWY.

I think RCA's choice for the next single is 'Long Shot,' Kelly's being 'If I Can't Have You.' I'm excited for the AMA performance!

I wonder if the producers/writers have anything to do with single choices. We already got a Katy track, and we have a Tedder track with AG, would the fact that Tedder also did IICHY/Katy writing LS maybe interfere with their chances for being a single? We still haven't gotten an Aranda track, nor a Kelly/her bandmates track, would that perhaps make those more likely choiced? Personally IICHY is a slam dunk single choice, but I wonder if its common producer with AG will count against it in the long run.

To this day I still do not see that IICHY is a guaranteed hit on POP. I can see it doing decently but it isn't the same kind of electronic/dance pop that is doing so well for others like Gaga. I don't see any guarantees for it. I could see it doing really well or completely bombing and therefore stopping the era dead in its tracks. If I was going to take a risk it would be with AIEW. The one thing I do like about IICHY is that it is an all around good song. Nice verses, catchy chorus and a killer bridge. That is one good thing.

Why wouldn't there be a fourth single, at least? Already Gone is performing well enough to merit releasing a fourth single. It has already outpeaked IDNHU on the Hot 100.

But her cd, I don't think she'll re-release it either. If/when she gets nominated for pop vocal album, and wins, her sales are going to skyrocket, why would they re-release when they don't know if she'll be nommed or win? They have to know if that happens her sales will pick up big time, so there may be no need to do a re-release. I don't know, I just don't see her doing it.

I'm almost positive there won't be a fifth single, unless they re-release the album.

"Long Shot" would be embarrassing to end this album with- and you'd think they'd have learned when the other Katy Perry song under-performed. My favorite is "Impossible" but they won't do that- IICHY or DLMSY would not be bad- and even "I want you" though I see it going nowhere, would still be more a cool choice than "Long Shot" because it would be seen as quirky and not expected to do much- and then if it did, it would be a nice surprise- but "Long Shot"- ugh!

As much as I despise PHilton, his sources are usually pretty accurate and I believe (as he reported a few months ago) that RCA used AG as a last shot to hold onto/revive this album.
Whether we get a 4th single will be completely based on whether the execs feel it is worth it to continue the era given the sales of All I Ever Wanted, not Already Gone by itself. My opinion - we are right on the bubble. AG needs to explode and take AIEW a bit higher on the charts and then we get another song. If thats the case, I'm conflicted but I'll go with Kelly and say IICHY. LS could be good but I was wrong about IDNHU so I'll take that out. AIEW and IWY as singles are riskier and not as radio friendly.

If there isn't going to be a re-release and if she isn't planning on releasing a new album in the first half of 2010, then I see no reason to not have a fourth single. "AG" is already more of a hit than "IDNHU" was and is only going up at this point.
I'm betting the label wants to release DLMSY, while Kelly is rooting for IICHY. DLMSY is obviously the safer choice, but she clearly doesn't really care for the song. She barely ever talks about it and stopped performing it on tour. She's been performing IICHY since the beginning stages of AIEW. We'll see who comes out on top.
I think "Cry" is also in contention for a single down the road, but I'm not sure if the label will want it to follow "AG." It has hit potential, but timing might be the factor that keeps this from being released.

If there's neither a re-release nor another album right on the way, a 4th single will help keep her visible. We can all debate why AIEW hasn't sold better, but I think one factor has to have been that after Never Again dropped off the charts, Kelly basically went a year and a half with nothing on the radio, few promo appearances...yeah, she was touring, but to a lot of the music-buying public she was invisible. There's no reason to repeat that if the label sees her as a valuable property, which it should.

i think cry is phenomenal and would have been an amazing single...just not following up another slower-tempo song.
i wouldn't be too surprised if already gone is the end of the AIEW era as well...though i hope it's not.
