I think Kelly should tour with Katy Perry. That would be hot! +1 An 'IDNHU' duet would be HOT.

If she tours with someone a la 2W2V it best be P!nk or someone with comparable singing merit. If not then stick to the random ass indie acts.

I want Kelly to tour with someone who can sing live. I have nothing against them, but Katy Perry and Taylor Swift sound horrible live. I think Pink would be awesome. Or if it has to be a country act, Miranda Lambert.

The Reba tour is been there/done that for both of them, and honestly, I'm not sure another tour with a country act is the best idea. I can't see her touring with another female pop singer unless it's someone who can stay with her vocally, and there are so few of those. I think it might mesh better to tour with a male artist. It's good news if it works out, will get more people in the door to hear her live.

How about Kelly/Adam Lambert? He's a tricky one to find a good touring partner too. The ideal match would have been Gaga, but she's going on tour NOW and he can't do it. Other than that, there isn't really a good match for Adam, but a Kelly/Adam tour would be so freakin amazing. He is a HUGE Kelly fan and I think it'd be awesome.

Finally have an answer about Kellys contract
from Abby on KCE
She said she has only "two more albums" with her label instead of one. She said something about a clause and I asked why it was two and not one and she said "LIFE!" lol. I have a feeling they didn't count MD in the five. Just my guess though. She said she loves all the go getters at her label, it's just some of the decision makers that suck.

Do one more album, gets some hits on it and then release a greatest hits album and be done with RCA!
I thought about a Kelly/Adam tour but my head almost exploded with excitement. I can't even go there...

Seriously, 'Already Gone' is the hugest flop of the millenium. Clarkson is the next Ashanti. I doubt they will let her record one more song as long as she's under the legendary RCA RECORDS. Now, by the end of her contract, Clive Davis will probably be dead, right? He is 77 now. Hopefully by the end of this current era he'll be gone. But he'd better not die because I want to punch him first, before he goes. So...put your hand to the sky and sing 'already gone, already gone, already gone, davis is gone...remember all the things you wanted, now all your memories are haunting, you lived more than what you deserved'. Thank you.

I can't even go there... GH albums don't count. I was thinking that too because that would be too easy. RCA probably has it worked that they get 2 more albums of original material. Who knows though, if Clive is retired by then maybe Kelly will stay with RCA. That is if Clive is the only major problem.

Actually Taylor Swift isn't really bad live anymore, not perfect no, but if you've checked out any of her recent live performances or tour videos from youtube, she's improved much. Plus, by going on tour with her, I bet more people would get interested in her just because she's with Taylor, and Kelly obviously likes Taylor covering two of her songs now. I doubt they would, but that'd be amazing.

Clive was the biggest problem but I don't think the only one, her problem is with the whole mindset of RCA management being afraid to take any risks. Clive himself has been mostly out of the picture this era, I gather. I do know he's been very involved in Whitney Houston's and Harry Connick's latest albums. I did read that comment by Kelly as implying that she agreed that My December wouldn't count towards her contractual obligation to RCA, and that was part of the deal to get it released as she wanted it. kcgrfan, you need to work on your sarcasm tags.

^^ I just meant that's how I interpreted the remarks quoted above. The only reason I can think of for why the number of albums left on her contract would have increased is if she made a deal of some sort, and that's the only deal that comes to mind (what else has RCA ever given her that would be important enough to her to shackle herself to a contract extension?), plus it's consistent, IIRC, with how she's generally described what she had to do to get her way on MD.

Am I the only one scared that she won't get picked up by a major label after her contract expired? That would depress me. I don't want her to end up being like Mandy Moore who was recording her latest CD in her friend's basement, got no radio play, no promotion, and no touring.

Mandy Moore's latest effort was her best yet. That's what fans want, no?

After RCA, Kelly won't go to a major label. She hates big label politics. She'll still tour and make records, but I don't expect any radio play.

Mandy Moore never sold 20 million records. Did she ever even headline her own tour? I know she was one of two opening acts for Kelly (with Sean Kingston) at one point.
The record business is in terrible shape, there's little chance of Kelly getting ignored if she wants to sign with another label, big or small. More likely would be if she decided to start her own small label, like the Beatles did (yes, I know she's not the Beatles). I know she tires of the business side of the business, but Kelly has the cash to do it, she seems to have has a lot of differences with how the industry does business, and she loves other artists. It would not shock me at all if she opened her own label to promote herself and a handful of other artists.
