Someone on the Express (who's at the concert tonight) posted that he will try and get audio from the pre-show tonight, but I doubt it will happen.

Even if he does, the Express won't allow it to be posted.

Idol winner wows Victoria crowdREVIEW What: Kelly Clarkson with Eric Hutchinson and Parachute Where: Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre When: Wednesday night Rating: 4.5 out of 5It shouldn't come as a surprise that Kelly Clarkson's concert Wednesday night at the arena was heavy on cover songs. She did, after all, win the American Idol title in 2002 by tackling everyone from Aretha Franklin to Celine Dion. Clarkson's choices were more esoteric during her Victoria debut. The 27 year-old from Fort Worth, Tex., touched on everything from alt-rock to classic country with amazing precision during 90 hit-packed minutes. She opened with the title track of her fourth album, All I Ever Wanted, a brassy blast which must have given the soundman fits. The shrill sound wasn't solved in time for the Grammy-nominated Miss Independent, a rocker that showcased her major league pipes, but by the night's third song, I Do Not Hook Up, Clarkson and her 11-piece band were rolling big-time. The tempos shifted for the remainder of the night, but the quality rarely dipped. She mixed Alanis Morissette's That I Would Be Good with Kings of Leon's Use Somebody during one of her set's strongest segments, and medley that was punctuated by heartfelt lyrics Clarkson made her own. Say what you want about the pop machine that introduced her to the world: Clarkson's vocal ability and skills as an interpreter are simply out of this world. The stage set-up was overwhelming at times, but when Clarkson skipped the frills for an acoustic segment she still soared. Her cover of the Black Key's Lies exposed Clarkson's bluesy side with nothing more than a piano and electric guitar for accompaniment, while two guitars and a trumpet were her only guide for Patsy Cline's Walking After Midnight. Talk about your super-sized talents. The singer's own material sounded exceptional throughout, but at times the decibels being emitted from her band were problematic (Walk Away, with a full horn section and back-up singers, fizzled; so did her cover of the Whites Stripes' Seven Nation Army). The highlights, which were plentiful, overshadowed any qualms. Since U Been Gone, which had the crowd of 5,700 in fits, was immense; equally so, but for different reasons, was her encore power ballad Sober, which took Clarkson's voice and peeled paint off the walls.Opening acts Parachute, a five-piece from Charlottesville, Va., and Boston-bred singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson - his Stevie Wonder vibe was the far better of the two - were solid. But not enough can be said about the power Clarkson displayed.
Over the audience, who adored her. Over her material, which sounds much stronger in concert. And over the Save-on-Foods Memorial Centre, whose stage rarely supports an artist of such impressive talent. :o mdevlin@tc.canwest.com Setlist: 1. All I Ever Wanted 2. Miss Independent 3. I Do Not Hook Up 4. That I Would Be Good/Use Somebody 5. Breakaway 6. If I Can't Have You 7. Never Again 8. Lies 9. Walking After Midnight 10. Behind These Hazel Eyes 11. I Want You 12. Because of You 13. Walk Away 14. Since U Been Gone ENCORE 15. Sober 16. Already Gone 17. Seven Nation Army 18. Ok....as SICK as this makes me admit, and I can't stress that enough.......from a "suit" point of view I can see the logic.....
MLWSWY.....sold a CRAZY amount.....that is SUBG 2.0
IDNHU, sold moderate.....while a great song, and musically it is a great song, not a message in this day and age that people follow unfortunely. And kind of a different sound for Kelly, slightly harder.
Not sure how AG falls in here....but DLMSY would proably sell really well because it IS Hazel Eyes 2.0.......
Ok, seriously, that was REALLY hard for me to say because that is NOT my viewpoint AT all.....I am more with Kelly on pushing the envelope and not going with the "expected" stuff.
Anyway, funny to come in here and see the videos from 2w2v tour....I was just looking at the picture thread from that tour over at the KCE......I was reminded how freakin STUNNING she looked that tour....

How is Don't Let Me Stop You the Behind These Hazel Eyes 2.0? ??? I don't get it either. The first 5 seconds sound similar and then it's a completely different song.

The songs themselves aren't that similar, but they're in the same general musical style. Behind These Hazel Eyes had stronger lyrics, thanks to Kelly's collaboration with Max Martin & Dr. Luke.
Would BTHE be a hit on radio today? I'm not sure. I think it would do well, but not nearly as well as it did in 2005.

The orignal song Kelly sang at the Pre-show was I'm Not The Only One. She mentioned how it wasn't the Melissa Ethridge song and that her mom cried when she showed it to her. She wrote it with Jill and Kate, possibly for the next album

Has she not sung Cry and Impossible for a while? I remember when she took them out one night for her voice--has she not put them back in?

No she hasn't sung them in awhile...I believe one of the reasons she took some songs out of the setlist last night is because of the AMA's.

If Kelly continues to keep Sober in the set list then I will just be thrilled. I have wanted to hear that live more than any song of hers. I hope she is doing it in the higher key, the lower key does nothing for me but I will take what I can get.

I like Don't Let Me Stop You. But there are far stronger songs on the album than that one. If I Can't Have You should be first on that list by a mile that song is amazing. I think All I Ever Wanted could be good too I love that song but that may be a little risky.

At least you guys get to go to a Kelly concert....... *woe is me* I feel much the same. She skipped over a good chunk of Canada, missing Winnipeg this time. Saw her last year w/Reba on TwoVoices, but I would LOVE to see her on this tour. The reviews have been amazing. It sounds like that as a live performer, Kelly has hit her stride with this tour.

It's hard to believe with all the success during the "Breakaway" tour that she didn't get a tour DVD out of it.
Also, every time we ever get full HQ audio from a concert (AOL 2005, that German show she did not too long ago, etc...) she's always raspy or sick. :(

I listen to If I Can't Have You, Miss Independent, Beautiful Disaster and Behind These Hazel Eyes from that show all the time. The recording of If I Can't Have You from that show is much better than the studio version. It's the ballads that weren't as great at that show.
