ON THE GLOBAL TRACK TOP 40 CHART: Already gone jumps to a new peak of #26 with 88.000..the song has done a great job remaining on the top 40 for 12 weeks now and has sold over 900.000 points (top 40 only)
"IDNHU" peaked at #25 but highest sales in one week was 89.000 so AG is close to outpeaking IDNHU...however IDNHU only lasted 7 weeks in the top 40 and earned 550.000 points in the top 40. so AG has already out lasted.
"MLWS" has become her thrid biggest hit WW (after BOY and SYBG) as the song outpeaked all of her songs at going to #3 and after 12 weeks in top 10 (22 in top 40 ) the song hit over 3.7 million points while in top 40.
GLOBAL PEAKS AMLT: #12 (12 weeks) MI: #16 (17 weeks) BA: #17 (29 weeks) SYBG: #8 (1 Top 10, 36 weeks) HE: #14 (34 weeks) BOY: #4 (22 Top 10, 45 weeks) WA: #16 (13 weeks) NA: #19 (16 weeks) MLWS: #3 (12 top 10, 22 weeks) IDHU: #25 (7 week) AG: #26 (12 weeks)

Be fair you guys, the glee cast doesn't even have half of the talent Kelly has and even Kelly can't sing the song fully without lowering the key (or she lowers it frequently). For what it is, it's a good version.

Kelly Clarkson Big Tipper
Kelly Clarkson was spreading the love at the hip Hotel Monaco in Seattle during a lengthy stay. Restaurant patrons started a low-key frenzy as she hung out at the hotel restaurant Sazerac over successive evenings. But the highlight came when the successful solo artist dropped by on Thanksgiving to take part in the make-your-own Bloody Mary bar. "Before heading out for her own Thanksgiving dinner, she dropped a hundred dollar tip on the bartender. Needless to say it was something to be thankful for," one-star struck patron tells PopEater. But the love didn't stop there.
PopEater reached out to a hotel source who said that Clarkson is still beloved by the hotel staff after she laid out another $100 tip for her room service bill.
And she moved into hotel legendary status after she checked out.
"Rock stars are supposed to leave the place a wreck," says the source. "But Kelly's room was immaculate. It was almost cleaner when she left." www.popeater.com/2009/12/03/kelly-clarkson-hotel-tipper/

For what it is, it's a good version. Eh, I disagree with the first part of that. Some of the Glee cast is incredibly talented. The girl who sings lead on this song was on Broadway in the multi Tony award-winning show Spring Awakening. Amber Riley who plays Mercedes can do things with her voice that Kelly (and almost all mainstream singers) WISH they could do. And yes, Kelly has lowered the key to the song EVERY time she has performed it. Sometimes a whole step or more. Never once has she even attempted to sing it in the original key. I don't particularly care for the cover. Lea sounds great, especially on those high notes. Funny that in the original version Kelly's high notes are severely auto-tuned -- yet in the Glee version it sounds perfectly natural (which is ironic because they auto-tune the crap out of everything lol). The chorus is embarrassing... Probably one of the more Kidz Bop-sounding songs they've done thus far.

The chorus is embarrassing... Probably one of the more Kidz Bop-sounding songs they've done thus far. That's what ruins it. The verses are good, but that chorus is . I hate the bridge too - those "la la la la's" are not necessary.

Personally, I think Kelly's live MLWSWY >>> the studio version. I like it in the lower key and with the "yeahhhhhhhhh" out of the bridge.

I think she has a real chance to win it- voters will know it's their only chance to give her one- and she's the emotional choice, you know- P!nk almost seems above winning Grammys.

Wow- that video clearly illustrates the HUGE gulf between a well-rounded amazing vocalist and a technically good singer. In this 'Glee' cover, the conviction in the voice as well as the strength in the chorus belts is eeriely lost into some robotic Broadway performance. As others have said before me, it goes to show one just how important having amazing vocal richness and vocal expression are on a tune's ultimate sonic aesthetics.... Not digging the glee cover at all. Personally, I think Kelly's live MLWSWY >>> the studio version. I like it in the lower key and with the "yeahhhhhhhhh" out of the bridge. ditto x 1000

Kelly Clarkson concert becomes snow show LAS CRUCES - There was news of a Grammy nomination, a tribute duet to Michael Jackson, and there were many songs deserving of the random, wild "wooo!" from crazed rock and pop fans. These were just some of the highlights from the Kelly Clarkson concert Thursday night at the Pan American Center at New Mexico State University. Plus, as an added bonus, once fans emerged at the conclusion of the concert they found their vehicles and the roads dusted with about a half inch of snow - a rarity in southern New Mexico. Clarkson, the first American Idol in 2002, was a powerhouse in her performance for 4,002 attendees. Her stop in Las Cruces was part of the "All I Ever Wanted" tour which is the song that landed her, her most recent Grammy nomination of "Best Pop Vocal Album." "It's the same category as Pink," she said to the crowd between songs as she shared the news. "Anytime I can make it into the same category as her, I feel like I've won." Other singers and bands such as Alanis Morissette, Kings of Leon, Patsy Kline and Black Keys are among Clarkson's favorites and some of the icons she covered in her performance in addition to her own songs - new and old. Songs such as "Breakaway," "Never Again," and "Behind These Hazel Eyes" appeared to be crowd favorites and others such as "If I Can't Have You" turned into a surprising angry rock ballad showing off Clarkson's versatility. She also turned a Patsy Kline country song "Walking After Midnight" into a blues number while one of her band members improvised on the trumpet. Clarkson incorporated her openers into the show by performing a duet with Eric Hutchinson to "Feel That Beat" by Michael Jackson and plugging up-and-coming band Parachute. Both Hutchinson and Parachute are touring with Clarkson and show a lot of promise in the pop industry. There were murmurs in the audience from those who had heard a couple songs from each of the openers on the radio and were anxious to hear more live. Parachute got things started, and most of their music is driven by piano, tambourine and drums with the occasional saxophone slipped in. It's apparent these guys are all in it together, and it's likely that any teenage girl would fall in love with playful lyrics like those in "The Color of Love" or "Ghost." Eric Hutchinson and his bandmates kept the energy up, and one word that definitely comes to mind when I hear Hutchinson's sound is "momentum." Their sound has soul with hints of jazz and blues mixed in and it's constantly moving forward. Hutchinson joked with the crowd about the band's lesser known reputation and said, "We know you don't know the songs, but if you would cheer for the songs like you knew them, that would make us feel so much better." The appropriately named song "Oh" had nearly everyone singing along to the chorus filled with "Oh-oh-ohhohwoahoh's" while swaying to the beat. Needless to say, both bands got the crowd ready for the headliner. And, one thing is for sure. There are no ear plugs in the world that could have prevented me from getting the happy ringing in my ears from crazed fans screaming endlessly for their Idol. www.lcsun-news.com/las_cruces-news/ci_13924671

Couldn't agree more....and it has great energy....I was seriously impressed with it live....great way to end the show as well. When you listen to Sucks and SUBG in the same set at the same time, it is funny how weak SUBG sounds actually, I mean musically, not vocally. Sucks keeps increasing in my list of Kelly songs I don't know why. oh, congrats to Kelly on her Grammy nod!

Right, so if you haven't proof either way, the word is "doesn't" until she sings it in its original key and wrecks it, your bad. Why are we comparing Kelly's tour version to a studio version anyway? Well you can think all you want, but the vocals on that Glee song and all Glee songs are so hideously manipulated and doctored, nobody really has any right to an opinion on the singing in them because no has ever heard it.

Devoni at the KCE was at Kelly's show last night. She posted this.. That's like the other day when she mentioned onstage AG reaching #1 on the Billboard Adult (HAC/AC) chart, or when she told that interviewer she has a floor of her house to keep her awards in. Kelly has a healthy perspective on the benchmarks and accolades and awards, but it's a mistake when people think she doesn't care about them. She's always been ambitious and hard-working - everybody who knows Kelly comments on how she's the most competitive person they know - she just wants success on her own terms, without sacrificing her own happiness or the quality of her music, and without getting all Kanye about who wins awards.

THIS!!!^ So, so true. Wallace - one of my favorite posts ever and so insightful. I was at Kelly's makeup concert in San Jose a few years ago (my favorite of the 4 I have been to) and right before she walked off stage at the end of the night she thanked her fans for an unbelievable year and said " 4 Number Ones!!! That's what I'm talkin' about!!!" People are mistaken if they think she just wants to play music and who cares about the awards/charts. Kelly is human and wants that success, just wants to get it her way. She has said so on numerous occasions. I hope she gets that pop album grammy - its well deserved and would hopefully reignite the sales that should be higher.

Can't? Or doesn't? No, it isn't. Can't. I've yet to be proved otherwise. I think it is. I think Kelly has been very smart this era in saving her voice, so it's a bit sad to see people criticize her for her choices. Everyone on this board will tell you she's an inconsistent live performer, but look at this era: aside from the first sub-par performances it took her to get into MLWSWY, there hasn't been a bad performance. Not one. She's nearing the end of her tour, and her voice is in tip-top shape (heard it myself last Sunday--she was positively flawless). Kelly's learned that she can't go on tour and do her promo schedule singing every song in the album key and still have a voice that people expect from her on tour. If lowering several of her songs a half step is what she needs, I say go for it. She usually takes that opportunity to make them a little harder to sing anyway (the "yeah" in the MLWSWY bridge, belting the end of AG instead of switching to head voice, taking the second verses up an octave on SUBG, etc.). To assume that Kelly can't sing MLWSWY in the original key is to assume it's because she can't hit those nights live, which any youtube video will 100% prove is wrong. SUBG, lowered a half key, is still much higher than MLWSWY in the original key. Same with Cry, WA, BOY, AIEW (which she hasn't changed the key of), Ready, Rock with You, Sober, Seven Nation Army, and perhaps IDNHU (though they may just be the same). So, she just "doesn't." And, after hearing what she sounded like on Sunday, two months after she started this tour and months of strong promo later, I'd say she "shouldn't."

Concert review: Former 'Idol' Kelly Clarkson shows her artistic heart in snowy CrucesLAS CRUCES -- Kelly Clarkson has grown very comfortable in her own skin in the seven years since was the first kept pop star produced by the "American Idol" assembly line. We always knew she had a strong, powerful, emotive and controlled set of pipes. But by gradually wresting creative control from the masterminds of the TV competition, she won during its inaugural season in 2002, Clarkson increasingly has proven herself to be a true artist, not just some gristle for the mill of that televised hit-making factory. If anything, her artistic instincts are not only sharper than theirs, but she's managed to be the show's best-selling alumnus (by a hair over Carrie Underwood) and one of the few willing to take real chances. It's all come into clear focus on her current "All I Ever Wanted" tour, which dazzled and charmed an enthusiastic, largely female crowd of 4,000 on a snowy Thursday night at NMSU's Pan Am Center. The short, barefoot Fort Worth native has four albums under her belt and plenty of hits to fill up a 90-minute, 20-song set, but she's a confident enough artiste now that she gladly and willingly tosses in cover versions of songs she loves without apology. Of course, aspiring Idols have to master a multitude of songs in a variety of pop genres, but Clarkson does it with real desire to make it her own. So in a show chock full of her own hits, including "Since U Been Gone" and "Miss Independent," she offered up a plucky rendition of the White Stripes' "7 Nation Army" as part of her encore (even singing Jack White's propulsive guitar riff with her two backup singers). During the show's acoustic mid-section, she blended country soul and bluesy groove on a version the Patsy Cline standard "Walking After Midnight" that was tasty without the folly of attempting to top the original. She brought out funky white boy opener Eric Hutchinson for a somewhat messy but inspired take on Michael Jackson's "Rock With You," her tribute to the self-proclaimed King of Pop. Just five songs into the set, Clarkson tossed in an inventive "mash-up" of Alanis Morrissette's self-assuring "That I Could Be Good" with Kings of Leon's ubiquitous "Use Somebody." Four songs later she was at it again, turning in a deeply soulful, vocally powerful take of the Black Keys' bluesy "Lies" that should make Etta James green with envy. Outside inspirations leaked into some of her songs, too, including a riff from Black Sabbath's "Iron Man" in the middle of early hit "Miss Independent" and a quote from the Eurythmics' "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" in the middle of her club-style dance kiss-off "If I Can't Have You." The admitted music freak said she chooses to cover songs "I wished I'd either written or recorded," she told the crowd, filled with a wide range of ages, from little girls with their moms to women pushing retirement age. Clarkson tampered with her own songs, too, managing to make "Since U Been Gone" a little more restrained but very much an audience sing-along. "Behind These Hazel Eyes" was reworked into a more intimate, acoustic sing-along version. But Clarkson's not only smart enough to know when to blast out a song and when to purr it, she also knows not to tamper with every hit she has, especially with a band as capable and energetic as the 11-piece group that backed her. "Never Again" is much stronger in concert, a real showcase of barely restrained vocal power and hurt, while a straightforward version of recent hit "My Life Would Suck Without You" was both a fitting end to a seriously fun show, but a good way to pay tribute to her fans. The powerhouse singer also has let her self-deprecating charms emerge on stage (during the 2004 tour with Clay Aiken she was downright dull and reserved, at least the show I saw). When she boasted of the Grammy nomination the new "All I Ever Wanted" CD earned on Wednesday, it didn't come across as egotistical as much as it sounded somewhat incredulous. Clarkson joked that she was incapable of making a video like Beyonce's. "I could never dance in those heels," she quipped, later noting that her downbeat encore-opening "Sober" was both depressing and inspirational. "Right up my alley," she cracked. It makes sense that she'd tap newcomers Hutchinson and Parachute to open this tour. Hutchinson is a goofy charmer himself, a pop soul man unafraid to shake his besuited booty or show off his own vocal chops - think Jason Mraz with funk. Parachute is an up-and-coming pop-rock band that, like Hutchinson, would be a household name with some decent (and deserving) radio exposure. Kelly Clarkson gets plenty of that, which is to be expected for anyone who wins "American Idol." But she's proved that she's more than just a good singer with a pretty face, she's a charmer and a vocal dynamo with the heart of an artist. www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_13921615?source=rss

Yes, we all know you're not here to denounce Kelly. Oh God, seriously. Some of you guys are insane. I was making a comment about the Glee version. You're ridiculous. On topic: No matter what our opinion is of the Glee cut, that is EXCELLENT promotion for the original songs. Most songs see a nice increase in sales when the songs are performed, similar to idol.

Oh, joy. Here we go again. From MuchMoreTV in Toronto: One Republic frontman Ryan Tedder on the Kelly Clarkson/Miley Cyrus similarity dust-up. Tonight on The Daily Fix at 7pm ET on MuchMore (Cue aTunes in 3..2..1...) I guess this is the downside of IICHY as the next single, although really the Fly on the Wall parallels are not as obvious, IMHO, as the Halo thing. Then again, I saw that Aranda released AIEW as their latest single. You know when Kelly didn't have to deal with any of this crap? My December, that's when. Nobody's ever accused any of the Kelly-written parts of her songs of being too similar to anything else.

I didn't mind the Halo similarities so much as I happened to like both songs. It took a live performance to for me to finally like that song. I say no more Tedder songs. TDWFA as the next single!
