Didn't she do 6 with tedder and 4 of them made the record? Well, 5 if you count TOMT. OH! I forget that TOMT was a Tedder song. Thanks!

I thought Kelly said she didn't like "Long Shot"? Or that if it were up to her it wouldn't make the record? I swear I read that somewhere. Or am I mistaken?

Long Shot would be a stupid choice. People will AGAIN focus on all the wrong things such as this being written by Katy Perry.

Kelly said that she didn't like the way her version of Long Shot turned out. She thought she sounded too much like Katy Perry and that it didn't translate too well with her. Because of this, she didn't want it on AIEW. She then said something like "but since I recorded it, I don't have control over it anymore". I do think she likes the song Long Shot in itself, but just not her version. She also said that she was pitched Long Shot first, and wanted to hear more from Katy, which is why we have IDNHU. So she had to have liked it if she wanted to hear more of Katy's stuff. The only reason I remember any of this is because the whole album recording process is really interesting to me, and I like hearing her thoughts on the songs. I'm really not this obsessed. I do not memorize everything Kelly says. LMAO. ![:d](http://images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif)

The song is so Katy Perry, it's ridiculous, and I think it would flop. If I were Kelly, I wouldn't want to release two songs in the same era that sound like Katy rejects. A friend of mine was listening to "Long Shot" the other day in my car with me, who is just a casual Kelly radio single fan, and was like, is this Katy Perry? I rolled my eyes to myself and thought "oh god." ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

About IDNHU, I just don't think she ever found a live arrangement that beat the album arrangement which is why I feel like there's no standout performance of that song. Seriously, get the audio of the Hammerstein performance. It's more the band that shines than Kelly, but it beats the pants off the studio version.

The tour version is probably my favorite arrangement thus far but it still doesn't scream to me the way AG NOVA or Operacion MLWSWY. :( It's a great song live though. Super super fun to dance/listen to. ![:d](http://images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif)

I got to see Kelly in Beaumont and holy cow, the girl was on FIRE! I have seen her 4 times and she has never sounded better. I felt like I was listening to Kelly in her "studio" voice. She went for the high notes and she nailed EVERY.SINGLE.ONE. It was something else, I feel so lucky to have been at that particular show. She added back in "Cry" but also kept in "Sober" which made my night!!! It was a great great show and Jason Halbert is from Beaumont so I think Kelly really went all out for his family/friends. I wonder if that is part of the reason she added back in "Cry" since he wrote it with her.

I found a two-part video on youtube of her concert clips with great video and audio:

Those videos are great! Enjoyed watching them, and I agree, GREAT vocals.
But omgggggg, she looked really hot when she was singing "My Life Would Suck Without You". She looked really fit in them too.

From nightsoarer on KCE:
She's working on new material and is currently writing for the new record, including working with the DJ she has on tour with her but I don't think anything has actually been recorded. I met her at the Fresno show and asked her about the status of the new album and she told me that she's currently writing new material while she's touring and working with different people. She said right now its got a dance-funk sound to it, while also saying that its very different from the rest of her albums.

Interesting talk about what songs Kelly wouldn't have wanted on the album. Hmm...maybe someone should ask that of her sometime....I would love to hear that from her.
I don't take the talk of LS in that RS article as her not liking the song....I think it is Kelly just giving respect to Katy, like she does so many artists, and not wanting to copy someone's sound. Just like the Beyonce/Halo thing. The way she mentions the label and them wanting LS because it is the hot/current flavor of the month. Kelly definitely seems to not like to do the same thing and jump on the bandwagon of what is the current trend. The thing is that poor Kelly seems to have some unluck or bad timing.......if you trace the pattern of this stuff.....she is often AHEAD of the trends but for some reason seems to be beaten to the punch by someone. She says that she doesn't put out anything that she isn't proud of, so I am to think that she does like the songs, just like anything though, she likes some more than others. Again, interesting, great, another thing to ponder on.......wish she would write a book about behind the scenes stuff like this.....she probably never will though.

Well, I guess DJ Rick has really fit in with the band, then, if he's writing with Kelly. This isn't the direction I'd most prefer from Kelly but I trust her to do it right. As usual, the question is whether she'll end up with an album that has a coherent sound and try to market it as such, or whether we'll get another sonic grab bag like this album. In terms of marketing the next album, I can see the case for either - on the one hand, Kelly has such a diversity of fans you want to give something for everyone; on the other hand, you don't want an album everybody kinda likes but nobody loves enough to buy.

Funk, I LOVE, dance funk will be interesting. I'm sure it will be awesome coming from Kelly. I've loved every style she's done, even country, and I don't like country music AT ALL. ![](http://yoursmiles.org/ssmile/fun/s0244.gif)

I'm excited about this new direction. The straight up pop-rock thing needs to be retired. It has run its course.
