I don't think she did the whole thing w/ Dream. Remember that there were some other people mentioned, like Timbaland and Big Jim Wright. It seems the focus is on the Dream tracks though, since they are the ones they keep playing for the listening parties. What's w/ the Post et. al. acting like there's a problem or she's still recording or something? F'in rags....

I saw those pictures earlier and wanted to post them here but alas, my laziness prevented that from happening.
She looks great. Very reminiscent of the beginning of the last era. She must be back to her bleak diet and training.

The Dream was interviewed by The Voice newspaper. Below is an abstract relating to Mariah Carey: . If that wasn't enough, being the brains behind one of this year's most talked about tunes also propelled him into the media spotlight. The Dream was the producer of Mariah Carey's now-infamous track, Obsessed, which saw the songstress dissing rapper Eminem and denying Em's ongoing claim that he once had a relationship with her. Not one to take insults lightly, Eminem recently retaliated with his own diss-track, aptly titled, The Warning. (To say that Em goes all out in his attack doesn't quite cut it. You have to hear the song to understand just how far he goes!) Ask The Dream if Carey had intended to cause trouble with Obsessed and he replies: "No, not at all. Why would she wanna cause trouble?" WHETHER or not Carey intended to spark controversy remains to be seen. (Slating someone as vengeful as Eminem through song - for the world to hear - is questionable, to say the least!) But the single certainly drummed up plenty of attention, which is always handy when you've got an album on the way. Having myself been treated to a preview listening of Carey's new album, Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel last week, it's fair to say the songstress remains on point on record. But following her widely criticised rendition at Michael Jackson's memorial service last month, enquiring minds want to know: can Mimi still cut it live?
"Of course she can," The Dream enthuses. "She moves around a lot and when your schedule's like that, it's not easy. We barely even had time to get in the studio as much as we did because both of our schedules were crazy. I don't know how she sings as well as she does, considering how much she moves around."
Granted, many artists will testify that the rigmarole of constant travelling can play havoc with the body, particularly the vocal chords. But it would be a lie to say that countless audiences weren't left shocked by Carey's performance at the king of pop's Source: FOMM
WTF? How embarrassing of the media to ask another artist about the decline of her voice.

IF, IF, there is no real good ballad on the album, they should stop pushing a ballad as the second single. If they have another club banger (maybe the timbaland track?), release that instead. Obsessed is not really starting this era in a big way, and if this coming week won't still bring huge improvement on radio spins, they should start thinking about the second single. I wish we could hear more on other producers' work, not just these Dream stuff.
I am afraid though, that this album will be "THE RETURN OF THE WHISPERER". Accept it or not, the quality of her voice affects how a song is received by the public. It can make or break her song.
Seriously Mariah, after this CD, have a baby and get those nodules fixed and come back strong. Your legacy as one of those who has the best voices in the industry is being ruined by your recent live performances.
She is pretty, that's a given, but she's known for her voice, not for her beauty.
And martss, I am not going to sit down for voicing my opinion. Thank you.

I wouldn't be concerned about these reviews, negative or otherwise. It's not as there's only going to be 6 tracks on the cd. lol Furthermore, it's nowhere in stone that all 6 of the tracks played for the UK group will make the final cut. I must say though i'm curious as to when or if the US gets a turn. If they are, i'm sure it should happen soon, I would think.
Another note, she's absolutely beautiful.

Perez posted a beautiful article about why her album is headed towards disaster. Heartwarming, really.

Perez Hilton really has sway over the public. Just look at what he did to the Black Eyed Peas. Oh wait...
As for the reviews, they're not much to go by for a myriad of reasons. The main reason being that it was merely an album sampler. Six songs are not a lot to go by so I'd hold out on judgment until there is more information and simply more material to judge. I don't see this album doing big things as far as sales go. It will be lucky to scan Platinum; hopefully the holiday sales will boost it up to there. This album will likely serve as more of a transition than anything else.

I take all of this with a grain of salt. No one has heard the completed album yet, and until they do, these reviews are interesting only because we get some info on some of the tracks.
As for Perez or anyone else; the last time people counted MIMI out, they got their asses handed to them.
Just sayin...

She's "whsipered" from day 1. Deal with it.
Why you acting like scared lil girls?
You haven't even heard jacksh*t yet, there's nothing to be afraid of.
LOL I do not get it.
But what I do know is you should never write people off.

Mariah Carey - Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel. "What I think."Thu, Aug 6, 2009 Ireland & UK NewsSpine-tingling, heart-stirring, and just generally awesome are the best three adjectives to describe the six songs I heard from Mariah Carey’s next album Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel - out 14 September. Putting all conflict with Eminem (the bitter, twisted loser) aside, Mariah showed that talent speaks for itself and she has that in sack-loads. Although I suspect in Mariah’s case it is Hermes Birkin-loads. Limited edition and expensive, dahlings. Here is what I heard: (1) Candy Bling - a very slow number that showcases Mariah’s unique vocal range. One to put on the iPod and play when someone is pissing you off on the tube / bus as it totally chills you out. (2) Obsessed - the first single and my favourite as it’s more of a dancey number. I am OBSESSED with this song and sing along when it’s on the radio (3) H.A.T.E U - another slow number - very e=mc2- but then if you have a winning formula, why change it. (4) Standing 0 - what a cool title for a song! By visualisng a standing ovation, Mariah is totally gonna get one. (5) Impossible - slow but SEXY in homage to Nick Cannon, I think. She sings ‘U did the impossible…’ and ‘I love you Like…’ (6) I want to Know What Love is - cover of The Foreigner’s classic. Mariah makes it sound so beauitful, it makes you dwell on the lyrics differently. And it shows she wants to properly entertain people - nobody would have expected her to do this. I actually cheered in congratulations when this song ended and I wasn’t the only one. Source: www.zoegriffin.co.uk

I think some of you all need to chill out till we hear some actual tracks aside from Obsessed. She doesnt' "whisper" so to speak on Obsessed, so I'm not sure why certain characters are worrying about that. Most likely, Mariah will use all parts of her voice at one point or another.

Mariah Carey’s Memoirs of An Imperfect Angel - Playback Review
Monday, August 10, 2009
AUTUMN IS SHAPING UP TO BE the season of the big voices. Just weeks after Whitney Houston revealed her new album to the European media at a fivestar London hotel, fellow warbler Mariah Carey got in on the act at the Langham.
Introducing six tracks from Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel was Island Def Jam Music Group senior VP Matt Voss, who described the album as Carey’s “most soulful and intimate yet”.
While tracks including HATE U and Obsessed certainly don’t lack passion, it was her cover of Foreigner’s I Want To Know What Love Is that caused the biggest stir among the 150-strong audience, who were busy consuming the three tiers of bitesize delicacies adorning each table.

i hope the-dream cuts will be left-over. that's all I'm saying. plus, OBSESSED disappointed me since day 1. the song is NOTHING SPECIAL for an artist like Mariah. She should have never ever recorded that song.

But what I do know is you should never write people off. Yeah while you are acting like a 100 year old grandma. She did whisper from day 1 but that was when her voice was pleasurable to the ears. You wont even really notice when she was doing that before, it even adds to the beauty of the song but not anymore, not when she has lost most of her voice. Whispering most of Charmbracelet was what made the CD unlistenable. Of course it is listenable to hardcore fans like you, where Mariah does nothing wrong, such a real LAMB.

having said that I don't think Mariah will record a song full of whispers. If you listen to the Hate U snippet in the last 3 seconds you can hear Mariah singing in full voice...

That song was most definitely not a boring whisper-fest. If anything, she should go back there. I believe she's said that the climate there really helps her voice. I hope the lyrics on this album are as good as Charmbracelet. That album had some pretty deep, moving lyrics on some of the songs. I just want better vocals.
