Mariah readies next single--"Candy Bling," from her upcoming album Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.
The song comes after the smash hit first single "Obsessed," which was allegedly about Eminem (although as predicted, she and husband Nick Cannon have denied this on several occasions). While "Obsessed" is hovering just outside the top 10 in Billboard's Hot 100, all indicators are up and Mariah fans around the world is still hoping the song becomes her 19th #1 single.
Back to "Candy Bling," the song is a slow-jam which talks about loving someone, losing him/her, and getting back on again (does she talk about anything else?). The song features a rather strong vocal performance with a nice ending (read: ultra high-whistle notes in the end).
If indeed "Obsessed" manages to claim the top spot, fans can expect a 20th #1 song from Mimi, which will allow her to match The Beatle's all time high record.
Source: Much More Music News --- That's surprising. "Candy Bling" is a critical favorite, but many of them have said that it isn't single material. She's talked about "H.A.T.E.U." and its re-recorded remix so much; I was sure it was going to be the second single. I hope they let Obsessed play out more and reach its full potential

Mess!!! www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgiCAREYING ON: The N.Y. Post's always-reliable Page Six reports that Mariah Carey is " scrambling" to finish her new Island/IDJ album, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel, with Whitney Houston's new album slated to come out on Aug. 31, just in time for the new Grammy deadline. The tabloid also revealed the superstar signed with manager Chris Lighty four months ago after splitting with Benny Medina last September. The first single from the album, "Obsessed," has already come out, but obviously, the full disc will not be eligible for a Grammy award next January. (8/10a) You're not seriously going to believe that tabloid, are you?

She needs to bring back Benny Medina and Mark Sudack. NC needs to take a back seat and act like a husband and not a delusional obsessed fan. I swear, it seems he married her for all the wrong reasons. She needs to take her ass to bed and stay on strict vocal rest and be ready to bang out her upcoming performances. Geez, lets get serious here folks! Don't make us bring Tommy back Mariah and take your ass back to Sing Sing.

Mariah Carey | Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel – PunchBowlBlog initial review By Manny on 10/08/2009 is.gd/2aZ1pThe Buzz | Intimate playback of 6 tracks from MC’s 12th studio album The Makeup | Afternoon tea at The Langham Hotel, complete with pink fairy cakes, butterfly and Mariah Carey stencils on the windows and walls The Hype | 2/5 Butterflies flew on the wall, waiter’s served afternoon tea with champagne and pink fairy cakes and had we not been in The Langham Hotel’s oh-so-plush Artisan Bar it would be easy to imagine how a Mariah Carey slumber party would look like. Over the top and decadent in equal measures, it proved an apt setting for the unveiling of 6 new tracks from Mariah’s Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. Unfortunately the cupcakes were the highlight of the afternoon. Sickeningly overproduced RnB masked any venerability the album title unsubtly suggests. MC’s vocals continues to prove a bitter disapointment managing to be dull, deep and distant all at the same time. Candy Bling complete with its looping chorus of “back in day when we was in love, but we ain’t in love anymore” was almost undecipherable until her ad-libs at the very end, while on H.A.T.E U, her trademark high notes sounded more like a distant whisper. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery then Standing O draws its inspiration more from a middle aged Sengalese rapper/singer then a VH1 Diva but thankfully it’s not all bad. The last track, a surprise cover of Foreigner's smultzy ballad, I Want To Know What Love Is, redeems MC and you can almost see Leona Lewis kicking herself for not having the hindsight to cover it before. While we we’re told that Mariah’s still recording more songs the only original track worth keeping from the playback would be Impossible which was head and shoulders above the rest even with the same autotune effect as 90’s bands like Jodeci and Blackstreet. In a difficult week that saw Eminem ether her on The Warning, Mariah's willingness to rush out a new record within a year of her last LP seems as questionable as the performance of her new single Obsessed on hubby Nick Cannon’s show. So with tracks as digitally modified as her recent album covers, we would advise MC to spend some more (much needed) time in the studio. Tracklisting: Candy Bling | Written by Mariah Carey, Carlos Mckinney and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash Obsessed | Written by Mariah Carey, C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash H.A.T.E. U | Written by Mariah Carey, C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash Standing O | Written by Mariah Carey, C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash Impossible | Written by Mariah Carey, C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash I Want To Know What Love Is |Written by Mick Jones All tracks produced by C. ‘Tricky’ Stewart and Terius ‘The Dream’ Nash for Radio Killa Records

If her next single is full of whisper like what I heard from HATE U snippet, they would be lucky to make this CD platinum. I can't believe all the songs they had played were all Dream tracks, with the exception of the cover. This era is slowly becoming a hot mess

But these reviews seem to contradict each other. Some loved the 6 tracks. Others didn't. Some loved candy bling and said it was the one to look out for, others didn't. Some liked the impossible like this critic in the new review while more people said it was a filler. So i am taking these reviews with a grain of salt but my only hope is that her voice is big and not whispery.

WOW! That reviewer gave her the business. It sounds like this album will be a mixture of Charmbracelet & Butterfly which are some of my fav albums by her. I could care LESS about hit records this era, I want Mariah to make some ol school rnb music with some pop songs as well. Hopefully this album borrows a little from E=MC2 and it has a few pop songs on it as well.

Her whole album is being produced by Tricky and The-Dream minus one song, which is a remake. So, I guess every song will be over-produced with watered down vocals. I wish Mariah would put out another Daydream/Butterfly/TEOM type album. A little mixture of everything from those albums. People might take this the wrong way, but Mimi's intent seems to stay relevant as long as possible instead of making great classic music. That's why I wasn't a huge fan of Mariah's last album.

This era is slowly becoming a hot mess I am "very" afraid if we don't get a monster hit out of this album it won't go even gold! The trend is so bad...even Mimi may fail to go gold...I don't think Janet went gold on her last album with a moderate hit?

Dang, moomoo's work is not sounding good. Not surprising because of her age.
She needs to do something crazy again to get people's attention. Maybe dance? :o Or go strip on TRL again!

To be honest, Mimi has never been taken seriously by the critics. I'd just wait until her album is out and read the respected critics' reviews before I make judgment.
Anyways, do you lambs think this will be a good era for Mariah?

As a fan of Mariah's, I really hope this era outshines the last one. It's hard to say. This could be an album that only die-hard LAMBS love, like LameBracelet or Painbow. I will take something that has Glitter vocals with modern, hot production please and if that happens, I don't care how much it sells, to be honest with you. It's sad and embarrasing when my favorite artists don't sell how much I want them to, especially when they are used to selling so much but whatever. At this point, I hope that she gets a least another #1 out of this album and puts out the best singles. Obsessed was a good start, IMO. The beat was daring and dark and she sounded playful but somewhat sinister as well. I like dark Mariah, a la Side Effects. I hope we get more songs like that. I don't call The-Dream's productions boring at all. On the contrary, they are quite baroque and make for good headphone records, as they are pretty intricate and multifaceted.

I'm becoming really worried with all these negative reviews... I don't want E=MC³. I hope she's going to surprise everyone with songs that were not at these listening parties. Her voice is much better than it was last year. She must take risks.

She looks incredible and FINE in those pictures. Hot dayummmm! LOL.
With the reviews and tabloids --- I kinda don't see the point in fretting over something that I haven't even heard and have no control over.
I'm not gullible enough as some people here to take everything as gospel and multiply it by 1001 extremities. Like chill out.
LOL.
Some people just crack me up.
I'ma wait for the actual MUSIC to make my mind up.

Jeremimi where does it say that she did the entire cd with them?
Only 6 tracks have been played, one of which is a cover.
And even if she did who cares? As long as the music is great I couldn't care less if she got some no name underground school kid to produce it.
It's not about names it's about the quality of the product.
What are you even in this for? Do you actually even care about the MUSIC?
LOL.
Acting like you already heard the whole album, pleazzz lol.
