I am glad Monica said she wasnt taking a break and was going back into the studio this summer to record because this album was a miserable failure. This song is terrible as a single, not a bad album filler but for a single?? "Go to bed mad" was the better choice by far. It wont do much of anything.

When/where did Monica say she was recording her next album this summer? She called 'After the Storm' a 'miserable failure'? lol

On 106 and Park she did state that she was returning to the studio because she doesn't want to take a break this time. She also said that her hope is that "USNB" is a new start for the upcoming summer.

Monica going back into the studio is great news. Honestly the only thing hampering her career has been the snails pace of releasing and promoting material. If she picks up the pace it'll pick up her entire career.

During "TBIM" era he was all gung-ho over her, and now he's like OK, whatever. IMO, Monica NEEDS to bring on a SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT manager. Someone that's going to work tirelessly for her and keep her name out there.

I think that Monica was promoted well and she made a lot of appearances. Her album just wasn't geared towards a specific crowd and it wasn't pop.

I feel that it is not the record companies responsibilty to do ALL the promotion for an artist. Monica's "ATS" could have been a lot bigger than it was had she and her management pushed it a little harder. She did some high profile appearances when the album was released, but I remember when "TBIM" was out she was on Leno or Letterman at least twice a month, whether it was to sing or just as a guest. I would say that she should hook up with Benny Medina, but since Brandy, Mariah, and so many others are utilizing him, he;s probably overworked. Sonja Norwood is out of work currently and she's great manager

I remember seeing her all over T.V. around the time of the Grammy's, but she wasn't really promoting anything. Then even back when "All Eyez On Me" was released, her promo seemed really sporadic. The timing was all off too. I'd like to see Monica work with Mike City! Has she ever worked with him before? I really like his productions.

No she hasn't worked with Mike City, but he produced Brandy's "Full Moon" which I liked and he's from Philly, extra cool points with me . He has been producing a lot of gospel acts and he is in the studio with all of The Clark Sisters. I want to hear Monica on a Shep Crawford ballad. That would be stellar. I remember her saying that Timbaland was going to produce on her next album. Hopefully that will surface at the end of this year or early next year.

i think this is actually going to debut on the chart next week despite falling out of top gainers-- since it was top new & active and still has about a +80 gain. don't forget about this song!

It's seems like Monica is never promoted properly and the same goes for many artists out there.

This song is pretty good, it's also quite catchy, for a ballad
I've never heard it on the radio but I've seen the video on BET about 5 times
Did Dallas Austin produce it? Did he also produce Usher's 'U Got It Bad', because that guitar solo sounds exactly the same.
It's good, but I think she should have released it over the winter. Why did they wait so long? A ballad generally won't take off in the spring/summer

A ballad generally won't take off in the spring/summer actually, and this is a milestone for monica, the song is written by HER, Jermaine Dupri, and Harold Lilly. So its a Dupri production. Austin's only contribution to the album is "That's My Man" Why'd they wait so long? It's just a constant problem with Monica. They song's been reworked a lot, too. I'm just glad it's made top 40 ar Urban and so far is chugging along.

Ahh I see...thanks and JD also produced 'U Got It Bad', so that makes sense as to why they sound similar, with the same guitar riff, lol

latest update:
It's up to #74 on the latest Billboard R&B Chart and #36 on latest Urban R&R Chart.
MONICA U Should've Known Better +222, 11th most increased 56 stations
It was actually out of the top 20 gainers for more than a week... and has worked it's way back up. Urban A/C isn't playing it much right now though.
*knock on wood* let's hope this keeps up!

I hope she's releasing a new album right after this single is done with its chart run.
She needs to comeback bigger on the new one.

That's doubtful, I doubt she's even began recording the new album yet
I'm starting to hear this on the radio...Flow 93.5 and also Buffalo's WBLK 93.7
It was #7 on WBLK's Hot 7 @ 7 the other night when I was in the car

Why aren't the large markets playing this one? If New York, Philly, Atlanta, Chicago,Houston and LA start playing this one it would be bigger.
If you live in any of these cities start calling up and requesting it.

Monica Billboard chart positions: R&B/Hip-Hop Albums: 85 R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay: 60 R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks: 61 That's better than Bob expected. Spins on CHR-Rhythmic, Urban, and Urban AC in the markets jlh527 asked about from playlists for the current R&R charts (not from daily Mediabase playlists): New York City: *WKTU: XX (they're playing "Get It Off") *WQHT: X **WWPR: 5 spins **WBLS: 9 spins ***WRKS: 3 spins Los Angeles: *KPWR: X **KKBT: X ***KJLH: 20 spins KHHT is not monitored. Chicago: *WBBM: X **WGCI: X **WPWX: X ***WVAZ: XX New Urban AC WSRB is not monitored Philadelphia: *WPHI: X **WUSL: X ***WDAS: XX New CHR-Rhythmic WRDW is not monitored Houston: *KBXX: X *KPTY: X ***KMJQ: XX Atlanta: *WBTS: XX **WVEE: X **WHTA: X Urban WFOX is not monitored. * means CHR-Rhythmic ** means Urban *** means Urban AC X means not in the station's Top 40 XX means not in station's Top 40 and the Top 40 goes down to 1 spin All stations are FM (I'm specifying because some of the call letters have AM and FM). That's 37 total spins.
