I'm glad its that way to cut down on the number of songs by popular artists charting before their official radio releases.

help keep this song going! it's cracked top 20 at R&R urban (#18 now), and has picked up some more stations, including a couple big ones, like Dallas where it's really taking off, and now Memphis; it's total audience is now 13.1million--
keep requesting and voting... so After the Storm can go out with style. word is Monica will be back in the studio for her fourth album for a early or mid 2005 release.
it's odd to me how this song has soo sloowwly creeped up. look at how long this thread is-- it's b/c the song's been out for so long. i can only consider it a testament to monica that it's done this well-- there's been zero promotion, other than making some rounds for the video (which has been really succesful, probably also b/c she looks so good in it).

This has gotten 98 plays on BET now-- so I'm wondering, where are you all seeing it the most? As in which shows?

How high did "Knock Knock" get on R&R's urban chart? I was trying to remember that, too... I think it was 16. There may be a topic here actually... If it wasn't 16 it was 14. Not much higher than this single, which is still gaining prettily. "Knock Knock" had a fast rise, and then was stale in the teens for a long time... this song's got a slow steady rise. This is how the two songs compare to date... not a great comparison really, except that this song has already gotten more UAC spins. KNOCK KNOCK: Total audience reached to date: 364.877 Total spins: 32266 Urban spins: 28498 Urban AC spins: 1025 Rhythmic spins: 2558 MTV plays: 1 MTV 2 plays:10 BET plays:166 U SHOULD'VE KNOWN BETTER: Total audience reached: 66.908 Total spins: 8212 Urban spins: 6752 Urban AC spins: 1071 Rhythmic spins: 279 MTV plays: 2 MTV2 plays: 0 BET plays: 98

oh, one thing-- Knock Knock's had six times as much audience, but only 4 times as many spins. interesting.

Not only has Memphis pumped this up to 25 spins, it's also added in 3 other small cities...doing as well this weekend as it ever has. go figure... everyone remember this as an example of a slow riser, even if it doesn't end up cracking top 10.

This has gotten 98 plays on BET now-- so I'm wondering, where are you all seeing it the most? As in which shows? It's on the most on The Center (3-4 PM) as well as BET Start (9-11 AM) and their afternoon show that airs from 1-3 PM. It used to be on the Top Ten on 106 & Park but I haven't seen it on there lately. So it gets played on BET about 3 times a day.

This has re-entered the top 10 most increased, actually it also has a more than a +200 bullet for the first time... if not the first time ever, than the first time in more than a month.

It's official, Monica has another Urban top 20 (bullets to 18 from 21)
currently on Mediabase it's at #16 with a strong +235 bullet. Total audience at Urban is up to 11.462M, overall audience is surpassing 13M. It'll likely be top 40 at Billboard's R&B this week, but could be anywhere from 43-36. It wants to reach #34, which is the peak of "Just Another Girl", and then the next milestone is #24, the peak of "Knock Knock". Because it has strong play in smaller markets, the spin numbers at Urban are already approaching the peak of "Knock Knock", but it's biggest audiences are around 1.2M. If it could add a major city it'd do the trick. At this point though it's not a flop.

This Just In Rhythmic Impact Date Hey, everyone! I've received a lot of email asking when "U Should've Known Better" is going to impact other radio stations. The current schedule shows that the song will impact Top 40 / Rhythmic radio stations on June 7th. Until then, please keep the requests going in to your local urban stations. Also, don't forget to request the video @ 106 & Park by visiting: www.bet.com/peoplepoll/1,,138,00.html Spread the word! Andrea

I'm glad this song is doing moderately well. She truly deserves to have chart success.
Let's hope this cracks the Top 10!

Billboard update:
R&B Albums: "After the storm" moves up one notch to #57.
R&B Airplay: "U Should've Known Better" bullets to #38 (from #43)
R&B Singles: debuts at #75
R&B Overall: bullets to #41 (from #46)
The last half of this week's Billboard chart was really strong for Monica, and all this actual week's been great. It should be well inside the top 40 of R&B next week, and if the single sales go up some it may approach #30. It's latest gains are thanks to the addition of some middle-size markets (Dallas, Memphis, and as of today Atlanta). Continued growth there (as well as holding on in it's only previous middle-market, New Orleans) will help it towards 15 million audience (has about a total of 1 million coming from Urban A/C). This song's been one of the slowest risers ever, that's why I'm so interested in documenting it's rise.
At this rate it looks like it will catch "Just Another Girl", if it's gains stay above +100 spins for another two weeks.

this has gone from 10th to 9th to 8th to 7th to now 6th most increased over the past week; audience leaders are Dallas, New Orleans, Memphis, Charlotte, and now Atlanta is on the rise. it's at #16, but will be #15 soon as Avant drops below- there are then 3 more big droppers above that (with Outkast inbetween, which is actually gaining less than Monica) so I week from now she'll probably be between 14 and 12. Kanye West is gaining like crazy behind her...
total mediabase audience is up to 16.8M, and some sort of single is now available, probly only enough to make the audience a flat 17M. It may actually make the Hot 100 if it keeps this up a couple more weeks, and we have the Pop and Rhythmic add dates on the horizon... i'm really proud of the song now haha, it's a fighter. Probably will be between 39 and 34 on the R&B chart this week, so in another week it can beat the peak of "Just another girl"

Monica was going through some of her worst times when this single was out, I remember unexplained and strangely canceled appearances, etc... it still managed to make #34, but it probably would've done better if she coulda supported it right.

It wouldn't have done any better because Sony was the one supporting it, not Arista.

16 on latest R&R chart, currendly #15 on Mediabase-- total audience 18.945! It's nothing to brag about, and yet in a way it is. The spin gain is back into the mid 100s, but it's doing well in big markets (finally).
I'll update this post once I find out where it's at on Billboard.
