This is new under the singles section of iTunes. This is definitely the closest he's come to creating a song like "Anytime" and "Back At One" since... well, "Back At One".

Is this from a new album? I haven't been following him since like 2000, but didn't he have an album out as recently as this summer?

This wouldn't be the same one the late Paul Young did back in '85, is it? I know that this song was penned by Daryl Hall & John Oates and then later performed it themselves.

BRIAN McKNIGHT Everytime You Go Away Producer(s): Brian McKnight Writer(s): B. McKnight Publisher(s): Cancelled Lunch Music/ Universal PolyGram International Publishing (ASCAP) Genre: AC Label/Catalog Number: Motown 21363 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: December 11, 2004
If there's one thing Brian McKnight knows his way around, it's a love ballad. For proof, you need look no further than two of his major R&B/pop hits, "Anytime" and "Back at One." "Everytime You Go Away" doesn't shatter that mold. Once again, McKnight's plaintive voice is accompanied by his sparse, understated piano. The big plus here are the other accents: a brief rock guitar interlude and crescendoing strings, the latter adding a lush framework that's too often missing from contemporary music.—GM

Just as I thought: a totally different arrangement of the song unlike the Paul Young tune. Thanks, Josh.

This is the best song he's put out in years. It's growing on me more and more.

He just performed this on The Tonight Show. He sounded great. This was my first time hearing the song. I never even bothered to DL it because he's bored me since "6, 8, 12." Agree with Tony that this is his best single in years!

#115 Urban hit! Moving on up!
(Did it even go for Urban adds? Not that I think it would do well, but it could go Top 50 at least.... why not try?)
And does this remind anyone else of a much better "Let's Get Married"?

I have read this board forever unregistered, and I had to join just to find out why on earth this song is not being serviced to anything but UAC? This is not even really a UAC record. Considering the 100 times I saw Brian on TV last month, and considering his solid first week sales, this makes no sense to me at all. :o John Legend is going for ads at CHR for crying out loud. Either Motown is crazy or they just don't like Brian because this is potentially the biggest pop hit he would ever have had next to Back At One. What a waste.
Please tell me I am wrong and they are indeed taking this song to some other formats. ???
