Part of me is not suprised about this. They probably have an edit without P. Diddy. If so, this could pull a "Don't Wanna Try" on AC radio.

Guess they're banking on the Enya factor...

There isn't anything AC about this song. Maybe a chance on hot AC, but modern and mainstream?

Plus, it's about infidelity! Bad lyrics for AC!

I'd think this would have a better chance of charting at AC than Hot AC, though I don't see it doing anything at either format.

Actually, I think this one might surprise some people and make a little bit of noise at the Hot AC format...but I'm not sure I can say that same more Mainstream AC . I do think since it's a mellow, nice song it'll get some airplay, but not a huge amount. It is definetely an Urban-leaning song... I don't think it'll chart. As for Modern AC, FORGET IT.

I love it.

Is he any relation to the popular Gospel family named "The Winans"? Just curious. A few of them had crossover hits, but I have never heard a totally secular effort by any of them. This would be a first.

This would be a first. There was a song with secular artist Brian McKnight, BeBe Winans, and another artist that I forgot the name of and I don't remember the title either. Mario Winans already appeared on the secular song "I Need A Girl (Part Two)."

From allmusic.com: He is "the most visible Winans family member outside the world of gospel".

This is an urban song, A/C i dont think will touch it, maybe a few adds but nothing big. As for Hot A/C same thing, ive never heard an urban song on hot a/c and i dont think this is any exception, with the programmed beats and urban vibe, it may as well be going for alternative adds

"The Way You Move," "Fallin," "Where Is The Love" among others have all crossed over to Hot AC.

Yes, I think this sounds way more fit for Hot AC than "The Way You Move."

I heard this on 106.7 Lite FM (WLTW New York) yesterday. I was like, wtf? But actually, it does kind of fit, musically at least. Lyrically, I doubt the average middle-aged or secion citizen AC listener can make much sense of the line "If you're creepin keep it on the low," but who knows. P. Diddy's part was obviously taken out of the song. So the country's biggest AC station is playing it, pre-impact for that matter lol.

Yeah, why? WLTW seems to be R&B friendly. They played "You Don't Know My Name" which as far as I know didn't go for AC adds and did much worse than "I Don't Wanna Know" on CHR-Pop. These days nothing is a surprise on AC.

Lite FM also played Janet Jackson's "All For You".

A what? Anyway, what WLTW plays these days almost doesn't shock me anymore. Wake me up whenever they play "Headstrong" or "Roses".

Hot AC needs more variety, so this addition would be nice. I agree it sounds more Hot AC than "The Way You Move".
For AC, it's somewhat of a stretch, I guess, though not really for the stations that are more willing to play crossovers from pop.

Go Mario! "I Don't Wanna Know" will be huge @ AC.

I wonder if the Winans name is a factor for Mario getting AC play. His aunt CeCe did team up with Whitney Houston for "Count On Me" in 1996. But CeCe, as far as I know, is the lone Winans with an AC hit.

When songs are this huge, there are usually some surprises. You see, Evanescence's "My Immortal", 3 Doors Down's "Here Without You" or Maroon 5's "This Love" don't sound like typical AC fare. And yet they are making some waves there. And really, AC radio needs to get with the programme, if it still wants to stay relevant. ;)

If they're going to release this here, they MUST take out the P. Diddy bit.
If they do, then, yes, this is appropriate enough for the format. Mario's vocals and Enya's background music are soothing for the format.
However, I don't see this being quite so huge. It'll undoubtedly chart because it was a CHR/Pop smash but I see this having a run like "Eighth World Wonder"
Sincerely, Noah Eaton
