Glad to hear about the title track (haven't heard yet). Kings & Queens isn't grabbing me.

Thoughts on the video.
1. I was hesitant to go watch it immediately once it came out, because a) I'm still only lukewarm on "Kings and Queens" and b) The video was 9 minutes long, which leads me to...
2. It's getting to the point where 30 Seconds to Mars seem to be stricken with Michael Jackson syndrome, where every music video has to be a goddamn short film. Is it too much to ask to get just a simple music video next time out? Y'know, switch it up sometimes?
3. So the music video is technically a short film called "The Ride," which is "inspired by the song 'Kings + Queens'." Oh my god: the pretentiousness makes me want to vomit. This isn't someone else making a short film inspired by the themes in your song, Jared. This is you directing a music video for a f**king song you wrote! It's your f**king music video for "Kings & Queens"! End of story.
4. After a ridiculously over-the-top ancient Chinese warrior video, an admittedly heart string-tugging video in Greenland, and seeing an inflated running time on the "Kings & Queens" video, I was relieved it was merely the band and some kids trick riding bikes around downtown Los Angeles. (Kinda cool that some of the kids were dressed up like the Baseball Furies gang from The Warriors.)
5. The bicyclist getting hit by the car came out of nowhere and made me jump in my seat. Kinda lame that, for effect, his two companions and the driver, just stared at him until he came to and didn't rush to his aid.
6. 2½ minutes of credits? Really? Do we really need to watch 2½ minutes' worth of credits for something that wasn't even 6½ minutes long by that point? There've been plenty of longer music videos without credits.

Thoughts on the video. 1. I was hesitant to go watch it immediately once it came out, because a) I'm still only lukewarm on "Kings and Queens" and It has come a long way with me. Still last place overall on the list though. Absolutely. I think Jared's just trying to pad his resumé as much as he possibly can. Yeah, that was preposterous. Although I was amused by how he used the Cubbins alter ego front & center in that introduction. As far as I know, that's just a name he deadpanned right out of the blue during an interview that I happened to be watching. Then it appeared on MTV's credits for the "From Yesterday" video (I don't believe MTV even realized who it really was), and now this. Yeah, but I figured they were using credits to leak/preview a new track for the album (similar to how the eventual next single "A Beautiful Lie" began to play during the "From Yesterday" credits). Also, they made a big deal about fans coming to LA to be in the video. I assume they made them into cyclists, and I didn't read the credits, but I assume they're in there. Obviously I don't care, but if I had actually traveled to LA to be in this thing, I'd be all about them putting my name at the end. Imagining like Bart Simpson when he worked on the Krusty The Klown Show... Bart: There's my name, right there: Bart Simpson! Milhouse: Looks more like Brad Stortch. Martin: No, it says Betty - Betty Syminton. Nelson: [punches Bart in the gut] That's for taking credit for other people's work!

Then it appeared on MTV's credits for the "From Yesterday" video (I don't believe MTV even realized who it really was), and now this. I guess it depends on when that interview was, because "The Kill" was also directed by "Bartholomew Cubbins." If I had actually traveled to LA to be in this thing, I'd be all about them putting my name at the end. Yeah, I remember that! Because they did one of those things where they folded the credits inward toward the center, like this ^, so they could insert a station advertisement or some newsroom teaser on the other half of the screen, the only purpose being to screw Bart out of proving his credit in the show to his friends.

Album leaked, and what I've heard so far, I like. All of their albums sound so different to me.

I actually wonder if they'll take him out now after all the controversy. Kanye's dropped off the Gaga tour and everything. He's apparently trying to stay out of the public eye now. I win.

And he were are 4 pages in, and nobody called me on getting the title of this wrong?!? Call me amazed. It's Kings And Queens for the record. But to my defense, the Promo Only out when I started it called it Kings & Queens. I think we're up to 11 wrong song titles here. Almost enough for a tournament? (Not really) I just loled at this.

Artie your humor makes me chuckle.
Anywho, I'm not so impressed by the collab with Kanye on the album. It's okay, but I have to say the track "This is War" stands out the most to me. That and 1000 Suns.

I downloaded the album when it leaked awhile ago and it had the Kanye version of "Hurricane" on it, and then I bought the actual CD earlier today and it doesn't. Was it not even supposed to leak? 'Cause it obviously did. I don't like Kanye all that much, but I like the version with him in it.

Was it not even supposed to leak? Most albums aren't "supposed" to leak.

Does anybody know if any regular CD versions of This Is War were made with the tiger face on it?
Every copy I saw in Best Buy today had one of the 2,000 faces that were turned into covers. Fearing that no tiger-faced regular version existed, I just bought the copy with the hottest girl on the front. ;)
But if a tiger-version exists, I'll try to track it down. So I'm not gonna open my copy just yet. Wikipedia didn't have a definitive answer.
(Bad Religion's Gray Race had 10 different portraits used as cover art on the O-card that slides over the jewel case.)
EDIT: I just wrote out a huge amount of other stuff, but I went back and deleted it all because it finally dawned on me that the logistics of printing up 2,000 entirely different "cover/inside page/last page/back cover" sheets, where 3/4 of the pages would be exactly the same, and stapling them onto the rest of the booklets is completely absurd and a waste of time and money. I can see a millimeter of the edge of the real cover peeking out from underneath the Face of Mars, so the cute blonde chick with the nose stud and Monroe stud is obviously just an insert. Time to open up this bad boy, then!

But they came up with 2000 different covers. If I would add it to my iPod, I would put the tiger-face cover.

The cover is the tiger face still because when I bought it today at Wal*Mart, I saw five copies of it with five different people there, and I was kinda confused, but then I opened it up and the front separate one piece cover was the person's face but behind it was the actual booklet of all the information with the tiger cover, so the tiger cover still the the real cover, in my opinion.

It's not an opinion, it's a fact.
And the Kanye version was held up because of legal argy-bargy, and once they're able to release it, they will. I have a feeling from the way Leto talks about it, they may even just put the Kanye version on future album pressings.

Different covers, 9-minute music vidoes, Kanye West. This whole era is too pretentious. Oh, and Kings & Queens is boring as $hit.
