So after a couple of listens, the album's pretty good and all, but why the hell did they have to make a part for that gargantuan choir of fans in like, each of the first 9 songs on the album??

Defending that, this album is pretty much a concept record, bringing their fans into battle with them. I actually really like that aspect of the record because they want their fans to literally be a part of the record. I think that that'll actually enhance their live experience as a band.

Yeah, they need to return to their roots. This went outside of their comfort zone and it clearly showed.

Which album do you consider their roots? None of the three have been all that similar. Jared Leto says this album is more similar to their debut, but only in terms of lengths of songs, use of electronics, and artistic flights of fancy. The overall sound of this album feels closer to A Beautiful Lie to me. Their debut album was a power chord-laden space rock nu-metal album. Both of the last two albums feel more influenced by U2 with emphasis on guitar textures in the higher registers and relying on the bass to fill out the lower register with no power chords at all. The orchestration of this album is identical to A Beautiful Lie in that regard.

it could and most likely will, and with great timing. Uprising is solid but not record worthy

That it gets to number one on the rolling chart only means that it has the highest spins in the last seven calender days. It doesn't guarantee that the official week ending chart will be number one.

Guys, Artie can have his McDonalds' hamburger and I'll go with Five Guys. If it's Number #1 on Mediabase, it's #1, plain and simple. No use trying to argue it with people who don't get it.
