I don't know where you can hear this online but I just heard it. It's a midtempo R&B song. It sounds pretty good to me. I don't think it will do well at Mainstream AC though because it's not a power vocal ballad. It should do fine at Urban AC.

This is the first single off her upcoming album?
She is signed to Def Jam Classics, right? When is her album slated to drop?

Oooh, this is good. Great laid back R&B song. It's got a cool vibe. I love Patti. Her voice sounds great.

I like this but it won't crossover. I still like it though.

This will be a GREAT summer jam on Urban AC where it will reach #1. You never know it may crossover to Urban, she is on Def Jam know and they do promote their artists.
I'm happy that Patti is back and STILL doing the damn thang!!

PATTI LaBELLE New Day Producer(s): Jason Rome, the Corner Boys Writer(s): various Publisher(s): BMI Genre: R&B/HIP-HOP Label/Catalog Number: Def Soul Classics 16040 (CD promo) Source: Billboard Magazine Originally Reviewed: March 27, 2004
"Diva." It is an overused term, granted, but there are certain singers for whom no other title is more appropriate. Patti LaBelle is one such artist. With a career that spans more than four decades, the songstress is one of R&B's most distinct and powerful voices. LaBelle enters the next phase of her career with the aptly titled "New Day," the lead track from her forthcoming Def Soul Classics album debut, "Timeless Journey" (due May 4). "New Day" is a smooth, midtempo jam that is classic LaBelle. And the song's—yes, "New Day" is a song—lyrics are universally relatable. LaBelle could be singing about a new label, a new love or a new lease on life. This should be a no-brainer at adult R&B and AC, two formats where LaBelle is a fan favorite and critical darling.—RH

This project is sounding better and better. I just read that Prince and Lenny Kravitz also appear on Patti LaBelle's new album.

If your dream is to sing next to a legend, you have a shot this week. Patti LaBelle is holding auditions for backup singers Thursday through Saturday for her upcoming world tour. Tryouts start promptly at 11 a.m. each day at Indre Studios in Philadelphia.
