Read about this new station today...Generation X radio. It's in Louisville. Looks like they play mainly 90s music. The last few songs I've heard are "Just a Girl" - No Doubt, "Down Boys" - Warrant, and "Mr. Jones" - Counting Crows. I figured 90s stations would begin to pop up now as we near the end of the '00s. www.genxlouisville.com/main.html

I've listened to this a few times in the car. It's an interesting station, but I'm not sure what chance it has to succeed. It does focus on 90s stuff, but it also plays some late 80s selections and some early 00s. It's basically a more focused version of the station it's replacing, Louie-FM, except that one played adult-leaning hits from the 80s-00s.
As of right now, the playlist is pretty diverse in its attempt to represent different styles and play at least a few songs that other stations (or, at least, other stations in this market) don't really touch anymore. Off the top of my head, these're some of the songs I've heard when I've had it on:
Goo Goo Dolls: "Name" Bell Biv DeVoe: "Do Me!" Jimmy Eat World: "The Middle" Real McCoy: "Another Night" 2 Unlimited: "Twilight Zone" Red Hot Chili Peppers: "Under the Bridge"

As long as its playlist is diverse and doesn't stay narrow on one type of music, I think it could work. Narrow playlists helped kill 80s stations.
