Does he really think that people are gonna buy an album with that cover? LMAO.
And yeah, covers like these were totally in style and cool in the 80s and early 90s. Too bad this is 2009. Not to mention this is a bad version of those covers.

Well isn't it great that we are all allowed opinions then? Because I think it's beautiful. Certainly better than the typical boring Idol cover.
If the music is good, then yes. Of course. I'm sorry if some men can't be brave enough to go to iTunes and press "download" if they really love his stuff. That is their problem, not his.

Do your research before you spout off about things you know nothing about. That song was written about a guy Pink was dating while she and Carey were separated, but since she and Carey got back together before Funhouse debuted, the song was cut.

Obviously the music is what really counts, but having a cover that actually fits in with the current music scene, doesn't make people embarrassed to buy the album, and doesn't look like it's been locked away for 25 years always helps, too.

Hey, I've got a great idea, let's label anyone who doesn't like the cover as homophobic! Because there's no other explanation for not liking the cover other than being scared of gay people!

As a Bowie fan, musically and stylistically, I have to say that the comparison of his album art to Lambert's is mildly offensive. I don't think anyone would have minded a cover that was Bowie-esque; this cover, however, just is not aesthetically pleasing. It looks like a rejected mock-up for one of Jobriath's albums.

So, in terms of album covers round one goes to... Allison :O
The more time that passes, it feels like she's the one with potential from this season. I may be a huge Adam-fan, but I'm honestly scared about not liking his album.

A movie soundtrack song that is bad and lame, a rejected Pink song for first single and a cover that looks like something from the 80s and even at the time it would be ugly... This is a great start for him.

I agree that, aside from the fact that they are from 30 years ago, the significant difference between the Bowie covers and Adam's is that Bowie's were approached much more creatively. For instance, the Hunky Dory cover probably started out a cheesy photo but it ended up looking like a painted portrait. Adam's cover looks like a Glamour Shot photo of some queen at the Aveda Institute. The cover may alienate some people who were casual fans as it takes the "neo-glam gay popstar" angle a bit too literally. His promo shots that were released months ago were of a higher quality than this. One of those would have easily made a stronger cover and still made a more interesting statement about his androgyny. Justin Hawkins should have given him pointers on crafting a cool cover while they were in the studio together. With all that said, this just makes me more curious to hear his music. The fact that his first single was one that P!nk barely passed up is of little consequence. It's probably a good track and we all know his voice is completely different. He needs to get the single out by the end of this week. If it's strong, I'll be getting the physical album regardless. I'll just slide it next to my bf's equally outlandish Britney st@n box in the checkout line.

I am shocked by the cover! I think it is kind of fabulous but I am also a gay male. I imagine there will absolutely be people who wont buy the album out of embarassment. It wouldn't matter if more people bought albums online but that is still a very small percentage of people.

Jay-Z / Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind, Alicia Keys - Doesn't Mean Anything, Taylor Swift - Fifteen, Jordin Sparks - SOS, Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire, David Guetta / Akon - Sexy b***h, Boys Like Girls / Taylor Swift - Two is Better Than One, One Republic - All the Right Moves.... .... All records that I will play well before I play either Kris or Adam. Err Jordin Sparks is from Idol too. Only two seasons ago. So if you're saying "Idol has lost its ability to produce contestants that are going to put anything out there that's noticeable", you're only basing it from one season? (Season 7 - Cook and Archuleta?) It's not about being "gay", it's about being HORRENDOUS! He could have glammed it up totally and still managed to look modern and hip, but this is just UGLY and poorly made. Ugh! Exactly.

Time for Miracles numbers --
21 LAMBERT*ADAM TIME FOR MIRACLES 46507 999 0 46507 I didn't know where else to put them. For a first Idol single they're bad but this isn't the real single so I guess they're ok.

^ I think the numbers kind of reflect his hardcore fanbase. It's actually much smaller than I thought it would be.

Well, it's not a "real" first single, but for Idols, the 1st week is mostly based on fanbase anyway... most of the time radio doesn't play that big a part yet. I would say this song got national exposure via its 2012 promo, that rivals any exposure radio could have given it at this point. So unless the fanbase made a collective decision to avoid this song for some reason... The numbers are pretty weak. Doesn't bode well.

Considering all the buzz around him and everything those numbers are a bit of a let down. The song actually had some good exposure. And yes, first week sales are hardcore fans, and I don't think they care if the song is a real first single or not. It's a new song, and that's what it counts.
I do think things will be different with the real single though.

I can only speak for myself but I didn't bother buying the single because it isn't really Adam. I consider myself (for the time being) in his hardcore fanbase but this was not a song I was dying to purchase to support Adam. I felt like I was only supporting the movie and I think the movie looks like complete crap. I do like the song for what it is but I think a ton of his hardcore fans passed on this one and are waiting for his true single.

So far all the sales numbers from S8 have been weak. I'm not surprised about Kris but I thought Adam had a much bigger fanbase from Idol.

Can someone explain how this song had such great exposure? I know there was buzz but that was limited to those of us who search for those things on the internet. They did that huge road block for this movie and didn't even use any of the song in it. Then the release dates were unsure and it was finally released by accident on iTunes Netherlands or something, wasn't it? I would say this song has had NO exposure outside of his hardcore fanbase who reads every twitter about him and every article mentioning his name. No one else (99% of the rest of the population) had any way of knowing this song was coming. They still don't until people begin seeing This Is It starting today.

It looks like a rejected mock-up for one of Jobriath's albums. with all respect to Bowie & his music, 20-30 years later his covers might be considered as classics and artful but back then he was probably getting comments like the ones i see posted on here about Adam's album cover. :)

This was in entertainment shows and made many media and press articles. And it had good itunes promo. The numbers are not bad, I think. To me they just show the fanbase and number of people interested may not be as big as one could have thought.
