Re that cover. Apparently Adam must have read and/or heard all the negative comments about the cover and said this in his twitter:
...." Thank you to those who appreciate and understand that the album cover is deliberately campy. It's an omage to the past. It IS ridiculous. 42 minutes ago from Echofon ".....
So, there ya have it, it isn't supposed to be a serious cover. Too bad that isn't more obvious.

Yeah, because he would TOTALLY admit it if it was serious.

LOL I get all of that, and I still find it horrible. I don't like those tweets, he assumes that those of us who don't like it are dumb or something.

Saying something was supposed to be campy and an "homage" to other things does not mean that it is a good cover. I am embarassed for him, to be honest.

Oh for God's sakes, can this thread get back to the music?
From what it appears, the Pink song has apparently been scrapped as the first single, and the lead single is now looking like it's this song:
Also, apparently Muse wrote a song for him, and it will be on his album. There are now songs written by Muse, Lady Gaga, Pink, and Justin Hawkins of the Darkness. This album sounds awesome.
Why? He's not embarrassed. He's comfortable with who he is.

Where are you getting that Entertainment is now the lead single? Are you basing it off of the bolded text because you are really reading between the lines if you got "Entertainment is the lead single" out of that.

You cannot possibly compare Adam to David Bowie. For one, Adam is an American singer. The culture in UK is way more open than in the US when it comes to sexuality. Maybe acceptance in the US today is equivalent to the 60s in the UK?
I live in the Bible Belt of the US. I'm not soo sure how well he would do around here... I cannot imagine anyone picking up that CD. And that's even if the CD is put on the shelves, as I'm sure the ultra conservative groups around here will not be happy with it...
I'll reiterate what I have always believed with Adam--He can be huge in Europe. As flamboyant as he is, I don't see him being accepted in American mainstream music. Lance Bass never came out for a reason. Is there any openly gay or equally flamboyant singer out there who is successful and is American?

No, Adam tweeted that his lead single was produced by Dr. Luke, and as far as we know, "Entertainment" is the only Dr. Luke produced song on the album. I'm fairly positive he didn't produce WDYWFM. My theory is that since Adamofficial screwed up and spoilered his single choice last week with their coding fail, that they switched singles at the last minute.
As for Adam being more successful in Europe than here? I kind of thought that was a given, honestly, and I think Adam would be fine with that. He said being in Germany while touring with Hair changed his life, and loves Europe and their attitude.
FWIW, Adam's album cover was designed by a Japanese artist. That doesn't surprise me at all. I think he'd be huge in Asia if marketed right.

No I think he said on his twitter that the new single is produced by Dr. Luke, and that is a Dr. Luke track.
And I'm embarassed for him because, whether he is comfortable with himself or not, the fact that he needed to explain that his cover was supposed to be "ridiculous" is pretty embarassing. It's like having to explain how a joke is funny, obviously if you're doing that, something went wrong.

Honestly, it ain't that deep man. It's an album cover. If it threatens your manhood to listen to music with that album cover, than I feel extraordinarily sorry for you. It's just music.

Thanks for explaining about the twitter. I thought Entertainment was the lead single a while back and then talk switched to WDYWFM. Maybe I had it right all along.

There's a misunderstainding here. It does not threaten my manhood/make me uncomfortable at all, and I don't believe I said that at any point? If I did, I misspoke. And I agree, the album cover is not that deep, anyone who wasn't going to buy the album because he is gay/whatever would not have been affected by his album cover anyway. ANYWAY I tend to like Claude Kelly/Dr. Luke tracks, and I'm excited to hear this single, I think it could be pretty big.

Well... IMO, its true the the music is what matters most, and album covers are generally not THAT important... but this guy is new, he's branding himself, and this cover is striking and memorable. The question is, does it send the message he wants to send? What is the brand he's putting out there? It would be one thing if it played into his image up until now... kind he's gay, glam, OTT, but still a sex symbol for the ladies, and his sexuality is kind of fluid, you know? It was like they were marketing him as a gay man with possibilities lol, someone willing to offer himself up to hetero fantasies. Adam is gay but his vibe is all about sex...any kind of sex. That cover is not about any kind of sex, it is about de gay. The guy on that cover is not making out with any chicks, not even in your dreams. LOL. And yes, it is going to challenge even some open minded guys to be associated with him. That is not right, but it is real. If he was going for camp he missed the mark. I think this cover is a huge mistake.
He better put out one hell of a single.

Jay-Z / Alicia Keys - Empire State of Mind, Alicia Keys - Doesn't Mean Anything, Taylor Swift - Fifteen, Jordin Sparks - SOS, Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire, David Guetta / Akon - Sexy b***h, Boys Like Girls / Taylor Swift - Two is Better Than One, One Republic - All the Right Moves.... .... All records that I will play well before I play either Kris or Adam. Err Jordin Sparks is from Idol too. Only two seasons ago. So if you're saying "Idol has lost its ability to produce contestants that are going to put anything out there that's noticeable", you're only basing it from one season? (Season 7 - Cook and Archuleta?) I'm basing it on Cook, Archuleta, Lambert, Allen, et al. The only Idol contestants to do anything of note have been Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Jordin Sparks, Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Josh Gracin, and Bucky Covington. Seven contestants in eight seasons... not a good track record.

Clay Aiken did well for himself for a while. Kim Locke has established herself as a dance chart topper. Kim Caldwell has found herself a niche in television. It isn't only about album sales and radio play.

So we should have a pretty good idea of the tracklisting (not the order, though) from what he has posted on his Twitter.
Strut Entertainment What Do You Want From Me Aftermath Broken Open Soaked Music Again
That gives us 7 songs, plus the iTunes bonus he mentioned. Then the possibility that Time For Miracles may be thrown on there but I don't think it will. Did I miss any?

It isn't only about album sales and radio play. I would say Cook and Archuleta have done pretty well for themselves too considering they're still having successful tours and still have sizable fanbases. Maybe not in the mainstream pop world but they've found their niches and have been doing well with them. Just cause not everyone from Idol is coming out and exploding into superstardom doesn't mean everyone's a flop either.

Exactly...keep in mind, Kelly really didn't become a superstar until Breakaway. Sure, Miss Independent did well, but her other two singles underperformed compared to it. During Breakaway she was always there in the top 10.

It's not about being "gay", it's about being HORRENDOUS! He could have glammed it up totally and still managed to look modern and hip, but this is just UGLY and poorly made. Ugh! Ditto. The cover is just ugly. Really, I have to laugh at the whole thing but I doubt the cover was meant to be funny. LOL!

That cover will ruin some fantasies women have of him who think he's their George Michael. And I also agree that he's likely to do much better in Europe and probably Asia than the US over the longhaul.

^^Yes, I read that too. Adam said in a couple of interviews that TFM wouldn't be on his album because it was just recorded for the soundtrack and it didn't fit the album, like it was too different from the rest of the songs. But he sounded like he didn't really WANT it to be on the album. Days after that I think the label said through a press release or something like that that it WILL be on the album. So I guess it was the label's decision and Adam couldn't do anything about it. Based on how he talked about the song not fitting the spirit of the album I think he's not too happy about it imo.

They'll probably tack it on as the twelfth or thirteenth track on the album, which isn't altogether a bad thing. Even though I'm not a fan of Time for Miracles by any means, it is probably a smart move to include it, especially if the movie does turn out to be a big hit.
