I want to see Britney do better than just recycling her previous material or using lazy/repetitive writing. But this pointless since those lyrics are fake.

^Shes not going to have the comeback hype around her this time... with all the new releases coming this fall and even that week ( Nov. 24th) if she doesnt promote this will flop. Its crazy to me how money hungry Jive and Britney are...she just did a Greatest Hits! Should be interesting since Gaga,Rihanna, and some others are releasing that week I'm pretty sure Jive isn't expecting this to compete with the Fall & Winter line-up of new studio albums. The single, however, is another story. It could easily become a huge hit. This is just what the industry does to take advantage of the loyals. They know it will fly to collectors and to her base, just like Madonna's new greatest hits and 50 video collection. Its easy cash for the labels without real investment in doing any new recordings and shoots.

Why is hot 100 but best way to measure a songs success?
The USA is one country, there's almost 200 in the world.

Oops! peaked at #9 but it really doesn't matter- look at it's impact on pop culture. If you walk down the street, ask any stranger to sing that song, they will know most of the lyrics. Slave & Me Against The Music were her only lead singles which could be considered flops, but worldwide not too much.

Why is hot 100 but best way to measure a songs success? The USA is one country, there's almost 200 in the world. I agree. Many artists have had more success in Europe than simply USA. If you are using US Charts as a reference then I don't think its fair to simply use the Hot 100. Pop charts can cause huge hits and its difficult for people like Britney to get no.1s on the Hot 100 as they only get mostly Pop airplay with small Rhythmic airplay. Toxic and Oops were no.1s at Pop. Slave For You caused the Britney album to sell over 4M. Songs Like MATM didn't connect in USA but was no.1 in many other countries! The US is a huge market granted but its tougher for artists to get concurrent hits from Albums unlike other countries. That doesn't make those songs not hits!

Maybe you cant read i said "shes only had 2 successful FIRST singles LOL 3 if you count Gimme More " And the thread is CHR/POP and the updates are only from the USA. im not some US facist but this board's radio charts are based in the US...and again calm down

And your original arguement was because this thread is on the US charts then the hot 100 should be used to mark a singles success. However, now that we've established this is on the CHR/Pop chart then shouldn't we, by your logic, use the CHR/Pop chart to measure a singles success?
